@@burnout713 oh, it wasn't revolutionary or anything, just rearranged the icons. The big point they were making, was to have it look similar across all platforms, which fits with their new direction of Xbox as a service, not a console.
@@Klaydoggy Yeah, I get the idea behind it, although pitching it as a service rather than a console while selling two consoles is a bit incongruous from my perspective.
I love my Xbox Series S. I came from having a PS4 all last gen, so there are a lot of Xbox exclusives I've yet to check out and catch up on. The console itself has a great compact form factor, it's whisper quiet and everything loads so quickly and looks amazing, even on a 4K TV! The biggest seller for me though was Gamepass... Thank you Mr. Jesus! We appreciate the effort you put into the detail of your reviews. Honestly you’re my favorite retro and modern gaming reviewer for your honesty, and trying to give us what want to know and see. Thank you again!
When you hold the trigger for a while with racing games, the trigger sticks to the pad on the inside of the controller. The pad is meant to get ride of the clicking sound of plastic on plastic when you pull the trigger. Open of the controller, pull the pads out with pliers & use rubbing alcohol for the residual glue.
They just updated the UI a few months ago, It wasn't a whole new look but it did streamline it a bit more, I guess they remember when they switched from the blades on the 360 to the blocks and everyone complained, they didn't want a repeat of that.
Its still 90% the same as the current consoles and if being honest its bad compared to the other consoles like Switch and PS5. Those blocks showing Ads are just sad
I dont think it is as bad as people talk about. I love how you have quick access to your entire library easier and in multiple ways. The homescreen shows your 7 most recent games, if you want to play a game or run an app that is a bit older, just press down and click on the My games and apps icon, or you can pin games on secondary screen when you press a trigger, you can use the search bar pressing Y or if you want to talk to your electronics like I dont, you can use Google Assistant or Alexa when you say Xbox, play (this game). I hate on Switch and PS4 that you have your 10 or so recent games and apps and if you want to run anything that is not one of them you have to scroll all the way to the end of the list to finally have access to your library. Ads are annoying but I dont think they are as bad as 360 days, there are only two ads on the homescreen and nothing else (one about a sale or a game, which I think it is smart, other about anything. 360 was way worse and even on the One, it had ads for Game Pass and Mixer on the Guide and there were removed)
@@lordeilluminati I am with you, once you learn the xbox dashboard I find it easier and more convenient than the other consoles. I use my one x for 3rd parties and I use it way more often than my ps4 pro since I only use it for Sony exclusives.
Not even to mention the native developer mode that turns this into an emulator jukebox for the ages. May not be exciting on paper but it's sure to remind everyone of the joy in what has been forgotten.
I finally got the Series X but unfortunately I live in an area where the wifi sucks so it's taking forever to load up and update...First game 🎮 on deck is Forza Horizon...
As much as I cant wait for the next generation to arrive, these days the jump in consoles (at least to begin with) is never "must have" as the graphical enhancement is not such a massive step up as the older generational leaps. Going from a NES to a SNES was mind blowing back in the day.
Fully agree. The only game that looks somewhat next-gen so far is Demon's Souls on PS5 but even that game isn't anything mind-blowing. In my opinion. they should have been developing a few good games to be launch titles, or so called "console sellers" games. Because this feature of backwards compatibility, albeit great and useful, it's going to get pretty boring pretty fast, as chances are you probably played those games before. If they had a couple of games that scream next-gen, l think it would help them sell way more consoles at launch.
They probably have a new interface on the back burner for release. Perhaps they kept it the same for the preview consoles to keep it a secret. I find it hard to believe they will keep it like the XBONE
The dashboard as it is currently is from this year. It looked way different last year, but yeah, I get it. I like how the dashboard works though. I am sort of glad they didn't try something crazy new and then had to iterate on it for 5 years to get it running nice like last gen.
I preordered Series X, even coming from the One X I'm excited to play Assassin's Creed at 4K60FPS and the upcoming Cyberpunk. Also The Medium is out next month and looks to be potentially a great horror game and one that is exclusive to the Series consoles
The Medium is available for PC as well, you can pre-order it on Steam already. To me it doesn't look next-gen, the only reason it may not be able to run One X is because in that game you play in split screen mode a lot of the times, so it's more difficult to render. Apart from that, graphically it doesn't look next-gen at all.
@@griseldapelican6366 I remember summer of 95 playing that game all night until sunrise. We thought we were beating the game but newer levels/stages kept popping up. Did anyone ever beat it?

From a Pearson who recently got the Xbox series x, but has mostly used the Xbox one, you get used to slow load times, but with the Xbox series x, this consoles load time is insane
Well, I'm convinced. I'm going to try and get the series x so I can play games that will release moving forward but also so i can play my collection of 360 games. I can't wait to re-live the the late 2000s/ early 2010s.
I am probably going to switch from PS to Xbox just for the backwards compatibility. I have tons of old PS games that I can't play on the PS4 or PS5. PS needs to step up their game (no pun intended).
I agree, just got my series X, wasn't blown away because I had the One X and the One X was already awesome. I am glad to have my series x upstairs, and one x downstairs though, options now.
Being a pc gamer who has experience with solid state drives, for console gamers, it won’t load instantly like some are making it seem but it will be quicker than the hard disk drive y’all are used to.
Not sure about XBOX but on PS5 the NVMe SSD is a PCI-e Gen 4 M.2 running @ 5,500 MB/s (very fast even by high end PC standards) and the GPU has direct access to it (not possible on PC) so in some ways it can and will be faster than PC loading times in the same game. Not saying it will be instant though in most games there will be load times of course.
Backwards compatibility, gamepass and the fact I didn't own an Xbox One, is why I wanted the Series X. Can't wait got it to arrive so I can test it out.
xbox one has it's own haptic feedback in there triggers which carried over to the xbox series controllers... But split second is a 360 title and doesn't take advantage of it.
I love how old 360 games get graphical and fps upgrades when you you play the Series consoles. Ninja Gaiden 2, and FFXIII look like brand new games. I wish PS did this with PSNOW.
I disagree with you on the One X and Series X having similar gameplay. I've had my Series X for around 8 hours and have already tested more than a dozen games I play often and it's a night and day difference. Star Wars JFO was almost unplayable on the One X with the frame rate dips into the 10-15 range. And that was in "Performance mode" at 1080P. Now in "Graphics mode" I'm getting a steady 60fps at 4K. Every game I've tested looks way better to the point where it's jarring.
@@rileyd9409 So did I on the One X and the framerate was absolutely decent. 30FPS. Don´t know what this fellow is talking about. I tested some games on the Series X by now and you notice a difference (more than when I tested some games I played on PS4 Pro on my new PS5) but there are no game changing (no pun intended) differences.
It's not upscaled, it's running natively in...well Sega really screwed this up. It's the only Series X game that runs under a native 4K@60FPS w/Ray Tracing. I think it's clipping along at a native 1440p. I didn't buy it...I'm playing Watchdog's Legion right now on the Series X.
I bought the Series X a while ago (I was lucky to find it) to play some old OG XBOX and 360 games (back then I thought that I should purchase them on the store). My surprise was to find out that I could use the old discs. Insert them into the Series X, update the game, and play! Since then, I'm in love with the console XD
Holy moley the details in Yakuza look great, and even SSX from OG Xbox was so clean. Love your variety of coverage amongst software and hardware details. Great as always MJR 🤟
with 4k you almost need 120hz for it to look smooth the res is so high you notice bad frame rate more 95% of new games dont support 120hz that is only for 1080p performance mode
No mention of previous great titles; Half Life, Unreal Championship, NHL Blitz, Ninja Gaiden, etc. Still your review was as comprehensive as any you’ll find, great job👍🏆.
The Xbox controller triggers has a small rubber with glue so that when you press the triggers it does not make a lot of noise colliding with the plastic frame and if that rubber comes off the glue begins to hold the trigger. It is fixed by opening the controller and removing that small rubber and the glue, but then the plastic of the trigger makes more noise colliding with the plastic frame of the control. I do it for my old's controllers.
Dude that "sticky" feeling you get from the new controller is a feature, kinda like the dualsense adaptive trigger. It might be wierd because it's not implemented correctly (last gen game) but it's definitely not a bug.
this is amazing didnt expect them to actually achieve backword comparability as its always been abandoned by sony and microsoft in the past. and nintendos approach forcing you to re buy snes nes n64 games every gen or so. wonder if blue dragon, dbz burst limit and other exclusives like that work.

So, for your comments on the interface, just so you know... Microsoft actually updated the Xbox One interface recently, and the Xbox mobile app, so they match the Series X/S, so everything would look the same. For the past year, the Xbox One interface looked different.
Honestly, though, what did the update change other than rounding the edges of the icons?
@@burnout713 oh, it wasn't revolutionary or anything, just rearranged the icons. The big point they were making, was to have it look similar across all platforms, which fits with their new direction of Xbox as a service, not a console.
@@Klaydoggy Yeah, I get the idea behind it, although pitching it as a service rather than a console while selling two consoles is a bit incongruous from my perspective.
@@burnout713 I can see that. They're just trying to get you on whatever device you want, in order to sell you Game Pass.
I honestly can't imagine paying full price for a new game again! It's the absolute best deal in gaming, bar none!

@@RubMySweatyThighs got to disagree on the switch it is completely uncustomizable no folders or pins, no rating system on the shop, etc.

As much as I cant wait for the next generation to arrive, these days the jump in consoles (at least to begin with) is never "must have" as the graphical enhancement is not such a massive step up as the older generational leaps. Going from a NES to a SNES was mind blowing back in the day.
Especially when we have to pretend we're having a next gen experience while playing games that are years old. This generation launch is a joke.
I skipped xbox one so this will probably be a bump up for me a lil lol
Fully agree. The only game that looks somewhat next-gen so far is Demon's Souls on PS5 but even that game isn't anything mind-blowing. In my opinion. they should have been developing a few good games to be launch titles, or so called "console sellers" games. Because this feature of backwards compatibility, albeit great and useful, it's going to get pretty boring pretty fast, as chances are you probably played those games before. If they had a couple of games that scream next-gen, l think it would help them sell way more consoles at launch.
The increase is massive over the Xbox One. This gen is definitely more impressive than the upgrade from 360 to Xbox One.
The trigger holds for a split second...in game called Split Second. Hmmmmm 🤔🤔🤔
Interface for 360 arcade + indie games was neat. They had a different category which was easy to see new games and find.

Ikr seems like playing on Xbox one or even Xbox. 360
If it works don't change it. The ps4/psvita should have used the XMB from the ps3/psp/Bravia if you ask me, best UI ever..
They probably have a new interface on the back burner for release. Perhaps they kept it the same for the preview consoles to keep it a secret. I find it hard to believe they will keep it like the XBONE
They did update it. They just made sure to update the older model’s dashboard as well.
The new dashboard update was in anticipation of the Series X
The dashboard as it is currently is from this year. It looked way different last year, but yeah, I get it. I like how the dashboard works though. I am sort of glad they didn't try something crazy new and then had to iterate on it for 5 years to get it running nice like last gen.

I preordered Series X, even coming from the One X I'm excited to play Assassin's Creed at 4K60FPS and the upcoming Cyberpunk. Also The Medium is out next month and looks to be potentially a great horror game and one that is exclusive to the Series consoles
The Medium was just delayed to January 28th, 2021 to avoid the Cyberpunk 2077 release.
@@leburn98 yeah, shame really but at least I can now play Cyberpunk and then move onto this
The Medium is available for PC as well, you can pre-order it on Steam already. To me it doesn't look next-gen, the only reason it may not be able to run One X is because in that game you play in split screen mode a lot of the times, so it's more difficult to render. Apart from that, graphically it doesn't look next-gen at all.

Being a pc gamer who has experience with solid state drives, for console gamers, it won’t load instantly like some are making it seem but it will be quicker than the hard disk drive y’all are used to.
Exactly
Not sure about XBOX but on PS5 the NVMe SSD is a PCI-e Gen 4 M.2 running @ 5,500 MB/s (very fast even by high end PC standards) and the GPU has direct access to it (not possible on PC) so in some ways it can and will be faster than PC loading times in the same game. Not saying it will be instant though in most games there will be load times of course.

10-15 fps? I beat that game like a year ago and the performance was fine.
