I've had a lot go wrong in my life lately & I've been so depressed that I've been to places that I pray most humans don't experience. So I stopped watching this channel for a while because I kind of stopped doing anything. I started watching the channel again this morning and I started crying because it made me so happy for the first time in a really long time. I don't know why i'm telling anyone this but I can't get over how much peace and joy this channel brings me. Love you all.

Hang in there kiddo.... People are under so much pressure today it's even more difficult on younger generation. Stop watching the "news", it's hateful, manipulative propaganda, REMOVE people/ so called friends who don't treat you with respect and honesty..... Surround yourself with positive people, NOT people always complaining/ negative...... P.S. Try to avoid fast food (actually it's toxic), and eat better food. You'd be surprised how crappy food messes with your mind/ mood swings, etc. Good Luck, God Bless

My Advice to you is to surround yourself with good friends and family. Most importantly, tell them how you feel and watch your depression melt away. Don't let yourself be fooled, look around and feel how loved you are.
I don't know you but I do know what your going through. Remember that this phase in your life is just temporary, tomorrow is a new day and a lot can change quickly. May your life change for the better, God bless you.

Memory is tricky. As you describe the morning and the various tasks, the smells that are fifty years old returned to my head. If you would have asked young me if I would miss the farm with all the smells and hard work, I would told you never. But in my old age, I find I do. But then memory is selective, often glossing over the negatives. Pete thanks for the vicarious experience.

    Hi Pete,
I really enjoy your channel. Seeing you work on the tractors has given me a lot of confidence and context to properly take care of my own equipment and be less intimidated. I didn't grow up with the benefit of seeing how to do mechanical work, so it's quite a hurdle. It's also helped me get over my desire to over-build or make perfect plans when developing our homestead, instead relying more on the resources at hand.
One area I'm still unsure about is handling and managing all sorts of combustible and other materials. How do you handle rags covered in grease, lacquer thinner, etc.? Do you ever get concerned about storage? Disposing old oil?
Thank you for the time you put into this. It's greatly appreciated and the seasonal variety of topics is great.

    • @JustaFewAcresFarm

Hi. Waste oil goes to my local NAPA to be recycled. Rags soaked with volatile solvents are laid outside until they are dry, then thrown in the garbage. I only use cotton or paper for rags, and oily/greasy ones are used as fire starter in the wood stove.

When I was little, I was helping my Pappap move his Angus. I was holding the fence gate hooks (they were the old ones with a pointy hook rather than a blunt one). I had too much slack in the fence and a cow caught the fence with her leg. Being little,I couldn’t hold on, and that hook went right through my hand. I held my hand up and it was dangling from it lol. I bare that scar proudly. I always cringe when the cows drag their feet over wire to this day (mine included). Sure glad they have safer hooks these days!

After graduating from diesel college in 1980, I brought back quite a bit of new knowledge about how things work. One was lubricants and how the old reliable standby suck as Quaker state would turn into soap with a few drops of water in the palm of your hand. Ya, I sure poked the bees nest when my brother seen that magic trick. He stopped buying the el cheapo crap and invested in a good quality GP lube from that point on.

I love your outlook on life and many times wish we were closer. Most of the farmers around here have done away with the livestock and have gone to grain. To some people, it probably sounds strange, but I miss the smell in the air from the livestock. We always did both, livestock and grain, and it was a lot of work, but fun. Sure does take me back home to our farm life ..living for the past 30yrs in Florida..I can relate to the different species of grasses that grew in our fields, our cattle and horses loved it ,but best of all we never had to buy great hay....our hay was square bales, the round baler had not been invented as yet..well might have been but did not know any farmer out our way that had one..not even my uncles dairy farm they had 150 head of Holstein milkers and they had a old square baler...and as you, hay was a big to do as well..keep up the videos can't wait to see your garden...enjoy your spring..
