funny enough lavender smell makes you happy
I live in Virginia I drive a whole lot far than he does to do just normal off-road recoveries so yeah it happens young man when nobody will come you go if you get the call and our mountains in Virginia are more brutal than dry stuff. He’s working in Utah.!!!
trailmater must have pissed you off to make the whole video as if he wasnt there.
The Jeep driver knew enough to know not to make the situation worse for himself, AND he left cones out to give warning to anyone coming down the trail who might not immediately see the winch line?
My kinda dude right there.
I effing LOVE considerate people
I think he put up cones at least
Ya, he really seems to know his stuff. Just needs some more time learning about recovering. Otherwise he did good.
He even sounds like he knows his stuff!
Hugs
@@dodgeguyz .. anybody that 'knows their stuff' or even a little bit would have got out of there easy.
The plant you saw at the end is actually a Chaparral Yucca. Fun fact about those plants, once they bloom (grow that big stalk that you see on the plant) and flower, the plant then dies. When they bloom, they can grow 6 inches in a single day.
It's also the state flower of New Mexico
And they're pokey as frig. The native Americans made cordage out of the fibers of the leaves.
Beer all around for those recovery’s
I grew up in that desert. The stalks make wonderful pretend spears when you are 4-39 years old.
The blooms are edible too.
Matt’s statement at 18:24, “So I welded half of it and Rory welded half of it and the reason we did that so when it brakes we won’t know who to blame and we both will be blameless!” 😂
When did they start acting like the government? Lol
@jedidiahross7447
Well, if you can't beat them, you might as well join them and beat them at their own game.
Plausible deniability, when you do crazy stuff no one else will touch and need every tool in the CYA box.
My personal goto is “hook it to whichever part you want to come out first”.
Brakes stop you when you want to take a break.
When Matt and Rory are working together I believe there are no better!!! Their combined experience is priceless and entertaining 😃
That Jeep owner really prepared his post-recovery speech haha!
Flash cards, Flash cards all night.
Californian's
I'm not so sure - I get the feeling he's just that kinda guy. I'm getting a military vibe with the way he carries himself forsure.
Not military with that haircut lol
@@zorgzev96Haircut doesn't mean squat if he already served and is out of the service.
I've gotta admit it's nice to see you in So Cal, Matt! Aren't our mountains and views beautiful? It's great to hear you give our state nice compliments as we usually get a lot of hate from those who don't live here. And you made a side trip to the Mojave Desert, my hometown!
You know the sad part about all that negativity is it's probably coming from someone who lives in a state getting a bunch of subsidies largely paid for by Californians.
I grew up in the Mojave Desert and left there 25 years ago not because of the but because of the people. Cali is a great and beautiful state most of the people just suck.
There's a right way and a wrong way to fall and Matt did it the right way. He rolled out of his fall. He's the Fall Guy!💥🤩💥
He was pretending he'd been shot.
Sure was. It was similar to a parachute landing fall (plf). Matt's a man of many talents.
I've met the actual Fall Guy on the big island of Hawaii. Poor dude has all kinds of physical issues from his life of chaos
I rolled out of a fall trail running but hit a root with my shoulder and separated it. I would have rather broke the fall with my face. Shoulder bothered me for 2 years.
@@ripvanrevs Totally agree.Setting with my elbow on a pillow to lessen the pain.Already had torn rotator and fell backwards down steep stairs 2 weeks ago.Rode my bike a couple miles,a couple days ago, and couldn't sleep all night from the pain.I describe it as a chisel in the joint and someone prying...then there's the muscles bruised...
Matt brings out the best in people. A great example of manhood and adulthood. Hard work and friendliness.
Looking through many comments, I'm impressed by how classy the channel is. No one mentioned Matt's statement "Rory is going to take that buggy, up the backdoor." Well done!
Only one person. 😀
Exactly why I'm here!! 😅
@@pat8988 lol!
SMH
Sometimes...It's the thought that counts ;)
Y’all really need shirts specifically for the rescued. Maybe on the sleeve it says “Rescued” or “Recovered “. Something to differentiate a store bought vs a recovery. Just my 2 cents worth.
official $1000 t-shirt for the recovered
Instead of "We'll get them out" it could say "We got you out".😂
It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway. These are some of the absolute finest RUclips videos to be had. And having both recovery teams, the best in the business; in the same video, priceless!
Holy crap, that kid's Jeep was close to tumbling down the mountainside! I've seen some partial collapses on these carved out trails in the side of the mountain and this debris is unstable rubble. He really had some incredible luck! 😲
Do you charge milage in a case like this 😅
I think he was thru there before but the latest rains were horrible in socal.... looks totally washed out
You should see some of the roads that we built for log trucks to go on. That one looks like a bloody highway compared to some of the things we've built over the years.
@@v12alpine looked staged, you can not be that blind to run into that rut
That jeep customer obviously wanted you to drive all the way down to so California because I've actually done a recovery in that same spot. We have lot's of capable rigs in the area who are in socaloffroadrecovery groups who would jump at a chance to wheel and recover on a road closed to general public. When I did the recovery it was a clear night and beautiful out with the city lights. Glad you guys enjoyed
I don't get notifications so I'll likely never see the response. But were you a part of the Jeep recovery at Hulda Crooks a few years back? That one was hilarious
3:51 dear editor, that transition is a masterpeace and i aplaude you
I noticed that transition too. Well done for sure!
a 'masterpiece'? really?
I'm not sure how many picked up on your short nod to Mr Roger's song, "It's a gooood feeling, a very good feeling... " LOVE IT.
Very good to see you and Rory working together. Even Sean was there. Each of you have your own way of doing things and that's good. Putting them together is fantastic. Thanks for the video.
Your banter with Rory is hilarious. "Give me my thunder back!" "Not up here."
Another outstanding recovery from Team MORR! After THIS particular episode, MORR stand for Matt's Off Road Rolling! Nice recovery Matt!! Glad you weren't hurt!
With Matt and Rory both on the scene , they make a Dynamic Duo! It doesn't get any better! Thanks for a great video by the "Best of the Best"!
Really an exceptional video treat. Matt and Rory's crews, Caitlin's dad, serious off road action, massive recovery repair, and wrecker action. We like Caitlin, and to see the wrecker doing its imitation of the trail mater on steroids. Great job well done, thanks for sharing.
I’m glad you guys see the real beauty of this area! I’m born and raised in Hollywood and everywhere that’s not in the city is gorgeous
People love to focus on the downtown areas, ignoring the huge chunks that aren't city.
It's good to see the two of you helping people out.
4:45 - that's why so many of us love it here in Southern California, you don't have to go far outside the cities to find amazing mountains/nature/adventures
This road isn’t open to vehicles though. Would like to know how the kid has a key to the gate to drive up there.
double gate. So... not anything close to public. Rich people area.
Unlock the gate is code for we have a way in
Rory is the man when it comes to trail repairs
Great Trip, Great Recovery , Great Equipment and Great big snake. Well Done Guys. The lady didn't seem very impressed...........
Hammer town looks so different without 80,000 people there. Great job!
Kudos to the young guy for how he handled his bad situation 👏. Matt and Rory team did a great trail recovery video showing how rigging works. The trail repair was even better, helping Kaitlyn's dad out and getting off the trail. Amazing team work 👏.
And Rory going up the backdoor. . Lol
Hello from the original Lucerne, Switzerland 🇨🇭, some 800 years old.
If you ever get to Switzerland, Matt, I‘m happy to guide you through this beautiful city.
I'm sure Matt would love to visit Lucerne. But even Matt's rig can't ascend the Swiss Alps. :)
I m in! My family is from Zurich circa 1500s. I ll trade you a tour through Utah.
beatiful place, i attend a weding in vtznau a few years ago , i fell in love with those views of the alps
Yep beautiful place do they still surf the river (rope tied to the bridge with a huge river current) cheers from OZ.
That invite won't work. You need to send a grainy photo of a broken Jeep along with your location pin on Google.
I love off-roading and have been stuck once or twice but the predictable situation you find people in just boggles one’s mind. Thank goodness for sensible people.
Matt is one of the best recovery guys ever. He goes out of state to help just one person.
I am a 20 year old female weldor from Socal and found out about you guys because my grandparents love watching your videos. They put me onto yall because I have a Jeep and work on tow equipment.. and now I'm obsessed with watching these and watching your team go abouts how to "perform" your rescues. Great job team. Would kill to be part of something like this!
Wow,
Los Angeles, California...
Crazy recovery 😲
La Verne is in L A County, about thirty miles east of the city of Los Angeles.
La Verne is not L.A. about 35 miles from down town, L.A. County.
Where is this exactly?
That was fun!
Thank you for being kind to the snake and moving it out of the road. So pretty!
I love snakes!
Best in the business. Matt & Rory.
I said this is Rory's video of the recovery.......always great time when the two of you get together on a recovery! I also want to say, in my opinion of course, that a mark of true professionals can listen to others idea's and use them rather than thinking their own way is the only way to do something. Both of y'all have that ability. Awesome recoveries by awesome groups. Thanks for sharing
Nice job and what timing for Caitlyn's dad. There was a guy in the local area that shut his business down (Rhino Recovery) and he would have handled the 1st recovery. Surprised that a couple of his buddies who are still in the business weren't reachable. Those Southern Cali hills are deceiving for sure. That wrecker never ceases to amaze me!
Yea that dude and SCOR and a few other pages on FB.
I was also thinking of Hom's, think they call their wrecker Sarge! They pulled off some sketchy recoveries!
Those pictures looked extremely sketchy. Matt likely knew better but there was likely some strong doubt because of how sketchy those pictures looked
Matt and Rory, picked a great early summer to go to SoCal. With record rainy season this year, everything is still green! In a dry year, the whole area would be of risk of a wildfire. Too much fun today!
what you're likely smelling besides the lavender is "cowboy cologne" aka California sage brush. LOVE that smell.
I guess I’ve been watching you and Rory for so long. I’m absolutely amazed. No one else would pull that out. That does not look bad at all.
I live in Joshua Tree, Ca. And when its time for King of Hammers, we get FLOODED with all types of awesome off roading vehicles going through. Ive never been to KOH but would really like to go one of these days. Always look forward to when you drop your videos brother.
Love seeing Matt and Rory working together, glad I didn't have to pay for that recovery, wow!
Johnson Valley is just my backyard!! You shoulda stopped by for a cup of coffee!!! That plant is the Agave Americana- AKA the Century Plant to all of us in the CA Desert. Don't know if thst is the Agave they use for Tekillya!
It's so great that all you guys work together. Love all your channels and love how you all interweave with each other and give a little back and forth just love it.
That commando training showed nice recovery tuck n roll 😂
That brings back fond memories! I was raised about 5 miles from that 1st recovery and ride horses all through those mountains. Great job guys!
This had to be one of the best videos both Matt and Rory have done together !
I admire this man.He is a fighter and never quitter❤ Is an example of whatever it takes !and beyond!!
I'm pretty darned happy with California. Glad you got a chance to check it out!
(and that was a yucca... Tequila and Mezcal are made from agave)
What a great collection of recoveries! One of the leading stars was the wrecker! Great to see Rory and how Matt & Rory worked together to make this happen on the Jeep. Way to go, team!
I just smiled when I heard both you and Rory were heading out to work. Thanks for taking us along and glad Matt’s fall-land then roll wasn’t bone breaking.
Good job guys 👍🏻
Loved the way you rolled when you fell! Sure saves a lot of broken bones!
Glad you could visit SoCal at the right time of year! Once you get out of the city, there's lots of cool offroad routes to explore. Some parts of the Yucca are edible.
watched every video, cant get enough of this channel, keep it up Matt!.
You will literally go to the ends of the earth to help out people, wow that is dedication to your fans and work, hope you did not hurt your self when you fell, matt
The plant at 23:05 is called Chaparral Yucca, it is different from Blue Agave (typically used for tequila). You cannot ferment Yucca into alcohol without adding a base first which can be complicated.
It’s fruits, roots, stem, and flowers are all edible but can be somewhat astringent or bitter so it’s recommended that everything but the flowers (if they’re clean) be boiled to get rid of the bitter taste. Hope this helps if you’re in the middle of nowhere in trouble. Also you should always do your own research, I’m just some guy in the RUclips comments. 👌
I loved seeing Yucca on the hillsides outside my house growing up in Southern California. I never new you can eat the roots until recently, though it might be e different variety then the ones I've eaten. I was very surprised when it came in a food box kit for making the yummiest French fries by frying the cut roots in olive oil. I always heard the native Indians ate it and my dad would say don't try to dig one up because it's hard work and it's "yuc." Now I see its roots in Asian California grocery stores which makes me think its a different variety since the Chaparral yucca only grows in California.
Matt, learning new things is always such a good feeling
My boss told me when I started my job “if your not learning your better be dead”
Each and everyday! Simple or complex things!
Still in CA? Stop at del taco in Barstow!!! Best ever!!!
Matt no need to be embarrassed you made the transition from the high ground to the low ground with stile and grace and I give you a 10 for sticking the landing 😂glad to see your well
I’m surprised it didn’t rip the wheels off break the studs bc that back tire was on the sidewall holding the jeep up lol
California is a place of spectacular beauty if you get out of the cities.
Rory wheeling back door with such ease proves his legendary status. Also, that’s a Yucca plant and not agave. Equally spikey, no tasty drinks made from it lol
I think it's so cool how all you guys help each other out.
Those are the exciting ones , I am used to seeing !! Great job , You got them out !!!! I LOVE YOU ALL @ M.O.R.R. !!!!!!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Living in Big Bear, Johnson Valley is in our backyard. Have fun! Onward!
I'd love to see Rory pilot a 4400 car in the main event at KOH!
Awesome to see Rory and Matt working together! I really enjoy their respective channels! Yep. Rory does a lot of trail repair.
Rory..amazes me with his knowledge of winching
IMHO he is hands down the best off-road recovery person out there. Granted, I haven't seen them all, but still...
Music bands, singers and comedians may dream of taking their act on the road, MORR literally takes their recovery team and equipment on the road. Thanks for sharing.
What happened to blue steel?
Very good question.
The recovery is in LA county far from L.A. It's up in the hills of La Lavern, Claremont, and San Dimas on a fire's access road. I wonder how the kid got access to that road. If it's locked, most likely his dad's a fireman or utility employee with keys!.
😂😂 Matt falling in the intro..got me😂😂
This is one of my favorite channels to watch while having dinner and relaxing after. You guys have so much fun and I just love the enthusiasm, expertise and energy for your work and play and the hard work that goes into it. Big respect. Keep up the good vibes. Oh, and happy to see you down in my neck of the woods!
Im loving the temporary tin foil still keeping the exhaust cool. No need for expensive exhaust wraps.
Thanks buddy that saved my butt , I was looking for the loose wire , fixed it quick , thanks again
See Matt was playing stunt man at the end 😁😁👍🏻
Fall Guy! Just needs a GMC lol
Matt in my opinion this is more proof you guys are the best at what you do. Since no one else would do it. You and Rory handled it and got the job done
AwesOme ! Snakes are awesome ! Love the so cal videos ! My home state !🤘🤘
Well worth the trip to Cali, ( my home state) for a change of scenery. It was fun seeing Matt on a route I am familiar with, Barstow to St George as I have family in Hurricane and Cedar City that I visit often.
I can’t believe you drove that far for a recovery.
Sometimes content to shoot is slow so u have to go where the content is.
He was already that way without the recovery.
For the views.
Content is not easy to come by 🙌
400 miles, 6 hours. Each way
Gorgeous country, perfect weather, I wonder if the folks that moved to Austin miss their hometown? Rain this weekend in Austin, then high 90s rest of month with 70 percent humidity. Yuk.
I'm sure the people who left will tell themselves they made the better decision.
I hope they are happier. It's a free country, you should try to live where you want.
WE ALSO AGREE, 👍THUMBS UP IF U AGREE. MATT IS THE BEST. As an Old friends of Matt, I can say that after thorough review and confirmation by the U.S. Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force UFO division and NASA, IT IS OFFICIAL, The John Wayne part of this video was the COOLEST cameo Matt has ever done, PERIOD. John Wayne daughter Aissa Wayne also agrees. Photos of ALL the above can be found on our site.
This was great! I always love it when my two favorite recovery teams work together!
Hard to believe that no one locally would do that.
You are correct we have a ton of people that would do that out here. We have a Facebook page with thousands of people willing to help for free
Maybe they were calling tow companies that take insurance. Lot of people aren't familiar with off road groups that would help for free.
I bet it had to do with the road. That road isnt open to the public
Plus, it wasn't an EV...😂
This was staged for content. Learning from Heavy D.
Matt! There's so much cool wheeling out in Southern California! The San Bernardino Mountains are a huge playground.
With all this deployment of forces I thought you would have to recover the crashed Airforce One. instead it was the simplest recovery in history
It’s awesome watching you recover in my home state! Hopefully I can see you in person someday, that would be the best!!!
Rory, the location expert because he's played gta. That's awesome.😅
People that don’t live in Cali don’t realize that even though there is a lot wrong with Cali but once you get out of the city in particular LA it can be really nice. And if you like off-roading it’s a ton of really nice off-road spots out here
I like the cinematic recovery with the rigging as opposed to the fastest option
Great video there Matt....Nice to see Rory.....Good recovery guys....Stay safe and see you on the next one
So, Matt......California is fairly massive. And extreme. I know you like your dessert life. The canyons down in SoCal are beautiful. Got desserts down there too. The Jeepers Jamboree takes place in the Sierra Nevada. We got moutains all the way up from LA to the Oregon Border, and from north of Sacramento (4 hours north of you) across the state to the Coast.
It aint all palm trees and beaches here. Youd be surprised ❤
The Socal smells of sage brings back memories of mountain biking these trails
That's a yucca plant. Yuk Yuk 😂
That's a good one. Anytime you and Roy work together is the best.
I grew up a stones throw from La Verne, you were in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mts. They say Indian trackers had a real hard time tracking anything in those mountains because how steep the hillsides are. La Verne is a old citrus town with most of the groves gone by the late 1960's. The Native Americans use to call the LA Basin "valley of the smoke" because of the inversion layer and marine layer that burns off by noon left a haze with no blue sky. And yes, that was before cars and smog were a thing. Most of the roads/trails on those mountains get shut down usually for most of the summer because of fire risk. All the vegetation you see loves to burn when its all tinder dry in summer, can't tell you how many times I've seen them burn. Well Matt, theres a little bit of history for ya. Just those few things gives you a leg up over the 8 million or so that have moved here in the last 30 years. Thanks for the videos!
I can't believe that nobody in Southern California could do this.
Doesn't surprise me. SoCal is overrun with lawyers that sue you for the least little thing. It sure isn't the state I grew up in anymore...
I’m sure someone in the Facebook groups would’ve helped, got stuck myself not knowing anyone with a 4x4, made a post and got some help 💪🏽
@@Thecarboardkingthere’s quite a few recovery pages in SoCal that have gotten me and a few friends out of situations. For free. Just for the love of the sport.
@@LuckyBaldwin777 Lawyers don't sue people, surely you know that?
Not sure. This road isn’t legal to drive on though. Maybe no one wanted to drive in an area that’s not open to vehicles.
Great video. Many times I wonder why not just "fix" things on the spot. But when you're a recovery expert, I guess you tend to just do recoveries more than trail fixes. Either way, keep up the great work!
We would’ve. No one called. My shops and equipment are 30-45 min from there. Easy peezy
I don't know which "man down!" edit is more hilarious. Shawn's casual left hand "help" or the John Wayne. 😆
