"You can't drink a pint of Bovril"
My favourite show ever! Super talented actors & brilliant writing. Edger Wright is such a clever director, the amount ingenuity/interest jam packed into each episode with barely any money is still exceptional!
Got my Mrs into the world of Spaced, now she's addicted. We watch it almost every week... If you've had a bad day just stick on this absolute cult classic, it never fails to cheer me up and put a dirty great grin on my face... perfect TV!!!

I clearly remember being pestered by my friend to watch Spaced in 2006, a few years after it had been broadcast. I took a look at the dvd cover and it didn’t appeal so just left it till he asked for it back. Feeling embarrassed I thought I’d better quickly watch the first episode just to say I’d watched it… and it captivated me. I remember sitting there transfixed. Had never seen anything like it. It was so funny, so cinematic, so brilliantly real.
I still binge watch it now and again, and it still grabs me. A wonderful series.

Your sitcom came out during the best days of my life. It helped shape my life and i am quite frankly obsessed with Spaced. I have always dreamed of a series 3 but i think it would be better of left as 2 series. Thanks again ❤

Spaced is one of the best television series of all-time, and is easily the most re-watchable! I've seen each episode more times than I could even pretend to count, and every single time I love it just as much as I did in the beginning. Beyond just being one of the most brilliant and influential comedies ever produced, though, it is a testament to the magic that can occur when a television network simply allows young, inspired minds to create the kind of art (in this case: Comedy) that they want to see without a mob of inartistic, money driven executives and producers putting their unqualified hands all over the project.
It seems as though the greatest recipe for timeless series like this is when the writers and actors have equal ownership in all parts. That's when they gain the confidence and the passion to bring the material to life, and the desire to make every line, every acting choice, as deliberate as possible.
That's what Spaced ultimately represents to me; The intersection of a group of uniquely talented young people all coming together at the perfect moment in their lives to create something special. Because they all had the gift of being able to write, and they all came with a common sensibility, you never feel like you're watching actors play characters on television. Instead you feel like you're watching a troupe put on an original play of their own creation, where each person is equally as invested in their character as the next.
This is something (to be honest) that you don't quite feel with American television. There are exceptions, like Donald Glover's Atlanta or Vince Gilligan's Breaking Bad, but for the most part you can just feel the studio's influence in every scene, and in every character of every show you watch. With Spaced that couldn't be any further from the truth. It is as uncorrupted a series as you will ever find, which is why it never loses its authenticity. It's as wholesome and enjoyable the first time you watch it as it is the one-thousandth time, and it's why I always finish the series knowing that in the not-so-distant future I will re-watch it again.

One of the few box sets I own and and have watched numerous times and never fails to appeal. Olivia Williams is still one of the funniest cameos but many before they were famous cameos. The zombie sequence is one of the scenes which looked like a film so no surprise Edgar Wright went onto making serious films. Also Mark Heap is amazing at creating characters whether Brian in Spaced or the fantastic Jim from Friday Night Dinner.

I was also thinking about how Mark Heap was sitting there not saying much, and didn’t really get the recognition he deserved for his role as Bryan. He’s amazing and I feel that perhaps he was a little bit miffed about not being referenced more, and not included when they listed all the great artists/comedians involved, I know he was already on the stage, but he’s an absolute legend 👍🏻
