Actually, it's no surprise that the demo version of Wario Ware had poor sound. That was common of any game that was streamed to the GBA via the link cable. For example, if you were to send either Dr. Mario or Puzzle League to another GBA, the sound was noticeably different. I'm guessing it's due to compromises being made with sample sounds to keep the rom size small.
I would think the pink "poop" from the snail microgame is actually an early version of the snail shell. The colors are either similar or the same as the color of the snail shell, and I can see it as a spiral shaped shell.
I got this game back when the 3ds ambassador free gba games were being given out. We were moving at the time and me and my little brother played this forever.
obviously "au" is referring how all the microgames are set in their own au, or alternate universe, which is confirmed in a unreleased nintendo power magazine
Wario Ware made such great games, especially the GBA game and Touched! for DS. I loved the quirky simple story telling and art style and the games and unlockable toy items are really fun. You could play two player games by having one person hold a side of the console and use shoulder buttons. Really a creative series. Never played the more experimental ones like the Snapped DSi ware thats on the 3DS eshop still or the motion control ones. I love the Rhythm Heaven Games, the 3DS one is gold especially if you are new to the series. Nintendo should really consider making a wario ware or rhythm heaven game for iOS / Android.
dimentiorules Nudity symbolizes purity in Japan, even in the Japanese version of Earthbound, Ness is naked in his dreams. You could look at it as Japan's audience as being matured, while the west is immature, which is the case.
Gore murder and violence? Yeah sure you can show that in your video games. Wait is that a nude human being in my video game!?! Get that shit out of here you disgusting fuck! Yup that totally makes sense.
One very important thing about the trial version and its compromises is that it is sent to the GBA via multiboot, rather than being contained on a cartridge. Because there's no cartridge in use, the game must be entirely stored in and run from the system's EWRAM, of which it only has 256 KB. To put this into perspective, the WarioWare cartridge stores the game on an 8 MB ROM chip.
I was looking for a beta of this awesome game series. I always wondered what warioware originally looked like, and the differences between the betas and final games. Now I know from watching this video. Thanks Beta64 for uploading this. You are always the best at providing fascinating information online about video games.

8:54 I think it might mean "advantage". In tennis matches, when you have the same points as your rival, you have to score 2 points in a row for winning. When you score a point, and you still have to score another one, it's called "advantage"
YESSSSSS, one of my favorite games in Beta64! Please keep going with this amazing series of games! Twisted, Touched, Snapped, DIY, Smooth Moves even Game & Wario all of them are awesome, well the last one not that much
Honestly, I would watch streams of you tearing apart the video games, not really as a tutorial, but like just watching your process, so we can learn to tear apart games too! :)
13:08 Lol I tried it myself just now and made it on my second attempt. :D Jumping on Mario is easy but having Mario jump on Wario is nearly impossible since Mario only ever jumps when the coin gets near, so either he gets it or you get it and when you do, the characters freeze. Technically, since both characters probably use the same programming Wario MUST have it programmed that when Mario jumps on him he gets squished just like Mario does. So if the microgame was longer it would probably work.
My guess on the "clear line" listed at 8:39 was meant to be visible in the Hoops microgame, for development purposes. Since they obviously wanted the player to guess where the ball needed to go to clear the microgame, they removed it from the final version. At least, that's what I believe it to be.
8:55 It was originally intented to pop up, when you got hit with the ball. It is supposed to represent the sound that person makes when hit with the ball.
Btw, the Trial version's musics at 6:33 for inbetween microgames is more likely early versions of the inbetween music that you hear when you select a microgames from the grid. 6:44 Is an early version of the music from the "Hammer Toss" microgame. There were also a few other musical differences, that were left undocumented.
About the warioware microgame called wario bros.you could originally jump on mario and vice versa. The game originally had more then 3 levels and was suppost to have enimies for higher levels.ether that or its a leftover
11:00 I think it's for the loop of the sprite. Notice that the pattern is Yellow, Green, Blue & Red... And the sprite's first color is yellow and the last is red. I think when the color isn't detected, starts from the next (first) color.
That "multi-level" thing for the Dodge Balls game is actually a leftover from the trial version, which had a "Selected" mode that acted similar to the Game Grid in the final. In the Trial, certain games would get harder and harder up until a certain point, at which point it would then start to speed up at the highest level (compare to the final version, which cycles through each of the three levels before speeding up). Only four games were implemented in this mode, of which Dodge Balls was one of them. And yes, it's exactly as hard as you'd think.
I'm pretty sure the clear line in basketball would be used to help indicate where in the jump the player needed to be above when they shot to score the basket. Literally a clear line as in to pass the microgame. Also pretty sure those Au in tennis were going to be grunts that tennis players make to put off their opponent when they hit a ball. It is the same kind of sound they make too.
For the image with the AU on it, my guess is maybe Astronomical Unit? We learned about it in my astronomy class last semester. An astronomical unit is the distance between Earth and the Sun in light years. The common abbreviation is AU, and the image behind these letters looks like a star. Don't know why it's in a tennis game though.
8:28 well actually, there are folders in the final game using that thin style, it's the stages where jimmy has a different hair color, so maybe there was going to be a 3rd jimmy mashup with white hair?
+LudgersChannel Actually, there's four different Japanese verbs that are au. Not to mention nouns, suffixes, etc. That's why I didn't mention it in the video. There's just too many possibilities.
What possibilities have you found? I'd be interested in investigating it a bit. I've tried inputting 'au' on Microsoft IME and all the verbs I get are the differently nuanced forms of writing the same spoken word, which is of generally matching or coming together. This is common with verbs in Japanese and is somewhat different to the proper, general homophones you see (like katei or tenka) that are usually (though not always, I don't think kami is like that) results of butchered Chinese jukugo. I can't really think of how au as verb could fit into a tennis context. I've actually gone and read the rules of Tennis in Japanese from Wikipedia and found nothing that would quite fit. Maybe it could mean a draw? But I've never found the concept of a draw being expressed in that way in video games, which is what I actually consume. It's usually hikiwake. I've searched it on a Japanese dictionary and there's nothing like au listed in the synonyms either. My only remaining guess is that it could be "auto" (out), with the "to" missing out for whatever reason. Or just a noise made by being hit or something.
Au is the abbreviation for Australia. Australia holds one of the biggest tennis matches in the world, the "Australian Open". Perhaps it's a reference to that and was meant to appear on the walls of the bleachers or on the court like the real one.
Sound quality was likely lower due to the gameboy's limited on-board memory as compared to having a cartridge to store the data on.
That was definitely one of the funniest plugs i have ever seen. Got a good laugh out of it. lol. Also, DUDE THANK YOU SO MUCH IM NOT WORTHY!
Shesez You deserve it! *clap clap clapclapclap*
nah, you definitely deserve it. Your content is awesome :D
You are so worthy.
I was so pumped to see that name drop! Keep up the good vids! (You too Beta64!)
you deserve it dude, i love your videos.

8:44 That's German for "ow."
Remember Wario saying "Mist!" (Crap!) in the Mario Kart 64 beta?
D’oh I missed!
No, but I remember when he said it in Mario Party 2
Well, he said "So ein Mist!" in Mario Party 2 XD
Thats hilarious.
He said so ein mist
I would say its for fail and most likely someone get hit by the ball.
Awesome video my man!
Thank you! :)

You have seriously started supporting Boundary Break in the last week. Honestly, that is a good thing.
AU on a star?
it's a Gold Star.
wish they'd go back to this franchise. Perfect Handheld franchise...DIY was the step in the right direction. Wish we got a 3DS game

8:46, this reminds me of women's tennis on tv, where they all scream really loudly every time they hit the ball.
I got this game back when the 3ds ambassador free gba games were being given out. We were moving at the time and me and my little brother played this forever.
8:50 I'm a year late but, most tennis players yell or grunt when the hit the ball, so maybe it would appear whenever the player would hit the ball?
obviously "au" is referring how all the microgames are set in their own au, or alternate universe, which is confirmed in a unreleased nintendo power magazine
And that has much to do with tennis
sure
no it means ow in german
I think the "pink poop" is the snail's shell after reaching its goal? it would be a pain to animate, so they decided to leave that sprite unused.
12:41 Maybe it was a concept for Level 3, where you're supposed to pick up the watering can first and then water the flowers
Every episode is just perfect, even though they take their time coming out.
Thank you for another great video Andrew
+Mike Duijghuisen Thank you for watching!

Dang, this guy just predicted Warioware Gold!
How!?!?!?!?!?!
Have you played Smooth Moves? That one is a lot of fun.
Is no one gonna mention naked Wario?! Wtf Nintendo!
dimentiorules It's relevant in Japanese symbolism. In other words, don't question it.

7:18 thanks I really needed the eye wash station after seeing that
9:17 That would have been pretty freaking nice!
*Makes the freaking ball bigger*
This is one of my absolute fave games of all time, and I appreciate the chance to learn what went into its creation. Thanks for digging this up!

I think it could be a unused version of the Snails Shell from that Microgame
I've just been replaying wario ware a lot and I'm really glad you made a video on it!
13:00 These aren't unused. I played the game recently and saw these... Well, I know for sure that I at least saw the smushed Mario sprite.

12:00 isn't it possible those "pink poops" are just variations of the snail's shell?
The dancing bunnies in WarioWare Inc appeared in Rhythm Tengoku
And in every other rhythm heaven game
Sapphire Gaming Because the devs behind WarioWare also worked on the Rhythm Heaven series
Jair Benitez well that would explain the Wario Ware cameo challenges in RH Megamix then. The more you know!
or the challenge "Wario Where?" and the sequel.
Jair Benitez I KNEW IT CAUSE SOME OF THE MUSIC AND IMAGES!!!
Finally a new full episode. Awesome!
I think it would be very interesting to see the betas of any Mario and Luigi game.
Mango Max I love that series!
And remember...*Have a rotten day!* XD

Wario’s line
*You get... WARIO!*
WarioWare is probably my all-time favorite game! Thanks for the great video!

In tennis matches, when you have the same points as your rival, you have to score 2 points in a row for winning. When you score a point, and you still have to score another one, it's called "advantage"
Not au, but av
And here we have another amazing video of yours, keep up the good work! by the way, an episode on sly cooper or spyro the dragon would be amazing :D
YESSSSSS, one of my favorite games in Beta64! Please keep going with this amazing series of games! Twisted, Touched, Snapped, DIY, Smooth Moves even Game & Wario all of them are awesome, well the last one not that much
12:41 Unnecesarily ominous, loved it
PLEASE DO ONE ON WARIOWARE TWISTED, That game was the first game I EVER played.
Nicholas Spadafora How old are you
I want to keep my age private.
Nicholas Spadafora Be careful of online predators
Yep.
Nicholas Spadafora Was twisted the one for the DS, because the DS launched in 2004 i was just curious
WOAH! HOW DO YOU KNOW I WATCH BOUNDARY BREAK?!
ikr
ikr As Well! I
Cruz Probably had a feeling on the way RUclips recommends stuff. If you would see his vids, you'd very likely seen BB.
Cruz I just subscribed to him a few weeks ago.
They're both friends
I remember playing this game, it's very interesting knowing that there was unused micro-games!
Honestly, I would watch streams of you tearing apart the video games, not really as a tutorial, but like just watching your process, so we can learn to tear apart games too! :)
+ricoben3 I do that on Twitch :)
twitch.tv/beta64
MORE!
In your little subtitles at the end, 9-Volt was saying his name, not Daimo.
+Shining Silver (ShiningSilver00) That's what he says?? I've been wondering that for years!! Thank you!
DO A KIRBY BETA64 PLEASE
Yooka- But what exact Kirby game?
James Hosking Superstar or Return to Dreamland
Yooka- damn that would be difficult though
Yooka- or a boundary bre- OOPS WRONG ONE!! XD
Yooka- I
I like WarioWare too. Especially Gold because of Voice Acting.
AU is on the periodic table for gold. Not sure if that's the reason but judging from the picture it'd match up.
***** It does... It does...
Who’s here before the release of WarioWare: Get it Together for Nintendo Switch
i searched for a whole year looking for this
AND IT WAS ALL WORTH IT
13:02 they're used in the game, trust me.
btw awesome that you gave a shout out to boundary break, another great youtube games show!
"Her take a listen" Ad starts playing
the intro is basically mircogames just listening to you and Co oping with you also I love boundary break thanks to you
The wario and Mario jumped on sprites aren't unused. I got wario to jump onto Mario and he bounced off mario
ive been watching your videos for quite a while and it feels so nice to watch you get better and better. you are so hilarious and i love you >w
+DaathicLarxie Aw, thanks so much :)
“I cant even comprehend that”
*realization in 3*
13:08 Lol
I tried it myself just now and made it on my second attempt. :D
Jumping on Mario is easy but having Mario jump on Wario is nearly impossible since Mario only ever jumps when the coin gets near, so either he gets it or you get it and when you do, the characters freeze.
8:56 "Au" = German and means ow
i think it is for the symbol for gold, as it is in a yellow star
Na. I mean, it was a tennis game wasn't it? It could be poping up if u hit one of the players with the ball.
Because everyone knows german.
Hell no, it must mean something else
can also mean ow in Brazilian, plus onomatopeia(?) for a dog barking
It's germanic, because it's also dutch and belgian
Another Difference from Full = Trial is that the boombox shakes more often at the start than in the trial version
8:55 It was originally intented to pop up, when you got hit with the ball. It is supposed to represent the sound that person makes when hit with the ball.
WarioWare Inc. is one of my favorite Gamecube games, I've played it for lord knows how many hours with friends.
I like how you can see the unusued flower colors in the border.
Also maybe at first you had to grab the watering can.
11:56 lol, maybe Arale was supposed to make a cameo.
11:30 ... smooth moves.
... Wario World
maybe the AU sprite was used if the ball touched you and your opponent and they didn't swing, so they would've said AU (ow)
That was my thought too.
About the warioware microgame called wario bros.you could originally jump on mario and vice versa. The game originally had more then 3 levels and was suppost to have enimies for higher levels.ether that or its a leftover
...
I just realized that your intro theme is an Onett remix.
Thank you for making the first video I enjoy enough to give it a like
My brother used to have Wario Ware for the DS. It was such a fun game, and I miss it
Travis Jr:I want a Sonic The Hedgehog micro games... anyone does want does type of games?
11:00 I think it's for the loop of the sprite. Notice that the pattern is Yellow, Green, Blue & Red... And the sprite's first color is yellow and the last is red. I think when the color isn't detected, starts from the next (first) color.
14:42 You got Pong and Breakout mixed up. Pong came out in 1972, and Breakout came out in 1976 (I think).
Loved that Boundary Break shout-out. :3
YOOOO please do a video on Warioware DIY, please!
9:43 the ring spins left but will change to spin right randomly or if you focus on one or the other it’s an illusion
look at his description on the video. Boundary Break is an amazing series that needs some love
That "multi-level" thing for the Dodge Balls game is actually a leftover from the trial version, which had a "Selected" mode that acted similar to the Game Grid in the final. Only four games were implemented in this mode, of which Dodge Balls was one of them.
And yes, it's exactly as hard as you'd think.
more gaming info for my brain thanks man you're better than my teachers at my school
We need a TAS of Wario or Mario jumping on each other, to bring this to rest.
I think F-One race is replaced by F-Zero. But that’s just a theory
I love how you put shesez in the video
For the image with the AU on it, my guess is maybe Astronomical Unit? We learned about it in my astronomy class last semester. An astronomical unit is the distance between Earth and the Sun in light years. The common abbreviation is AU, and the image behind these letters looks like a star. Don't know why it's in a tennis game though.
That mario artist polygon thing sounds REALLY cool though. Wish i had it...
WarioWare was my CHILDHOOD. I loved that game.
The sun with AU was probably part of an early calendar, because August is a summer state, and the abbreviation for August is AU.
8:28 well actually, there are folders in the final game using that thin style, it's the stages where jimmy has a different hair color, so maybe there was going to be a 3rd jimmy mashup with white hair?
Au is Japanese for fit and meet 8:50
+LudgersChannel Actually, there's four different Japanese verbs that are au. Not to mention nouns, suffixes, etc. That's why I didn't mention it in the video. There's just too many possibilities.
+Camilo Montolio I know right. Take a look at the word Kami it can mean God, hair or even paper
Funnily enough, here (in my area, Croatia) we say "Au!" when something hurts us XD
Where I live, "au" is the sound made by a dog. :P
Au is the abbreviation for Australia. Australia holds one of the biggest tennis matches in the world, the "Australian Open". Perhaps it's a reference to that and was meant to appear on the walls of the bleachers or on the court like the real one.
Isn't a game boy to GameCube adapter just an early Wii U?
Me Man pretty much
13:04 THOSE SPRITES EXIST! I just discovered them a few minutes ago while playing Mega Party Games
Anyone else in the know about this episode before it was uploaded? Also great video (and think about doing that Ocarina video too).

The trial version uses the index music instead of the wario stage music.
