- On November 13, 2016 Lt. Brian Filipiak of the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office was arrested on suspicion of "super drunk" driving in northern Michigan’s Montmorency County. RELATED STORY: s.mlive.com/MAHqYvW
Highlights:
00:15 Montmorency County Sheriff Deputy Zachery Morrison passed the pickup truck driven by Brian Filipiak, an off duty Lieutenant of the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office and turns around in pursuit.
00:45 The pickup truck is seen swerving over the fog line, into the shoulder, then back left over the center line.
1:00 Filipiak pulls his truck to the side of the road as he passes a Michigan DNR officer who was also responding to the 9-1-1 calls for a reckless driver.
1:20 Deputy Morrison approaches the driver
1:27 BODYCAM FOOTAGE BEGINS - The assisting DNR officer can be seen on the other side of the truck.
2:54 Deputy Morrison returns to the truck to have Filipiak take a field sobriety test.
11:50 Deputy Morrison beings to physically remove Filipiak from the truck.
13:25 Deputy Morrison and the assisting DNR office attempt to pull Filipiak from the truck.
13:48 Deputy Morrison warns Filipiak he’ll be tasered if he does not exit the truck.
16:53 Filipiak is placed under arrest.
20:08 Filipiak states he wants a “Cop to a Cop” deal
21:17 Both officers struggle to get Filipiak in the back seat of the police cruiser.
Trying to reason with a drunk is sheer torture.
No no no.

no citizen would ever be treated with this level of patience. Ever.
Phil McDonald no citizen rushes into gunfire to save a cops life either, it's other cops. that is why he's treated this way. when other citizens have a duty to put their lives on the line for cops and do so regularly you will see civilians treated like this too.
dETROITfUNK they're not complaining about their jobs, people are complaining about one of them not being treated like regular citizens...either join them and you'll get the same treatment when getting arrested or don't and you went receive special treatment.

He knows he did wrong he was just trying to get out of it just like any of us would.
findme alright. You're probably right.
He's drunk and has an inflated ego, that's the 2 worst combinations.
The reason he can't wrap his head around it is because all the other cops he's encountered HAS given him special privileges. This particular cop is the odd one who isn't conforming to "the norm" and that's why the drunk cop just can't wrap his head around why he's taking it this far. Every other cop just looks the other way and lets him go. That's the ONLY reason he's so befuddled here!
Mike Hawk I know it smacks of that but cops have let me out of similar situations more often than they haven't. I probably wasn't as bad off as he was though. If the Lt was mr no tolerance then he would just be a prick, no doubt about it.

come on. he knows there's going to be a trial. its a lieutenant. he's also aware that his chestcam has a mic that works, and that the footage WILL be viewed.
Bro- This was a vendetta- And he knew He was recording. This is probably a publicity stunt/sacrafice of one of the corrupt ones

@@bradthompson5383 you are the dude in this video aren't you?
The way he knew exactly how he was planning on getting out if it “let me sleep it off on the side of the road”. Not the first time he’s used that/been waiting to use it.
You start to fully understand the impact of officers wearing cameras after a few of these type videos. I have watched enough of them to know that several of these arrests would have never occurred without them. Watch the video of the female officer who had to arrest her immediate supervisor. I was not convinced that it would have ended in an arrest without that body cam. I thank the officers and the fact body cams now give good cops a reason to not be forced into having to make the choice.
The arresting officer saved lives that day.
And probably gets shit on for it to this day. They always have a rough time after they mess with one of their own.
@@dylanhicks8895 they're all a bunch of scum anyway
dude was beat up two months later by Brians son....and he died.
It sure took him long enough to save that day. If that were anybody without a badge, this video would have been about 2 minutes long. The officer was entirely too patient.
@@jaysantos536 No offense, but can you show me factual evidence to back up that claim because one way of looking at what you are saying is that the drink driving of the man that day, lead to the murder/manslaughter of an officer [ human being ] for saving lives including the assailants father. Seems the son was far more corrupt than the father.
“You’re a lieutenant! You know how this works!?” A Lieutenant! How sickening! My full respect for the arresting officer!
Idk about respect. the arresting officer still played this half hour-long game with him to get out of the car. If it was me or you in that situation (as a non "peace officer") what do you think would happen ?
@@Patricksargentmusic it depends on the officer. Drunk people are stubborn but I’d rather take 3x as long trying to convince them (regardless of who they are) to get out of the car on their own rather than have to use physical force to remove them.
It looks like mr pink marshmallow man. Disgusting obnoxious, person who wrongly thought he was above the law! The arresting officer did a fab job , I’m sure if it had been any of us we’d be in the back of the car somewhat faster !
How dare you enforce the law meant for the common motorist? I am a LT sheriff! Scum bag
I'm not sure what this officer is dealing with in his life but I hope he gets the help he needs! These officers see the worst of the worst every day and I'm not sure how they do it. You Men and Women do a great job! Maybe there will be more mental support in the future for police officers!
Oh wow. I actually miss 2016. The past three years have been insane.
Zack is a kickass local, helped me out when my rav4 exploded whilst i was driving. Didnt have a license at the time 😂. Never woulda though he did a bust like this next to hillman, good video

Just one more lvl I promise!
And then to think he is a cop himself

* A bit further along now and it just occurred to me that this man was a high ranking cop at time of his arrest. How disturbing for him to have power over the public.
Finally a cop who has treated another fellow cop correctly in this scenario. I've seen a lot of other videos of similar incidents where they just baby the drunk driving officer and treat him a million times better than they would any other person.
He expected a corrupt man such as himself. He got a real Police officer.
Amazing how he is still convinced that he can work it out in his favor, until he realize he can't due to the non corrupt policeman.
The arresting officer was overally dramatic. He wouldn't have lost his career if he had let him go. He could have pretended he never found him. You can tell the arresting officer is an uptight little bitch and he was too scared to pull the drunk dude out of the car because he didn't want the smoke. 😸
Greg Petitt the reality of this situation is the officer who arrested him will suffer the rest of his police courier for it from other officers.
Orine Boyd no he wont
You don’t realize how a traffic stop works. It’s already called in. Documented that his patrol car is pulling over car with Certain plate number. If he was to let him go and the drunk cop killed someone the arresting officer would be liable. I hate cops but this officer is RARE
Imagine how many officers got away with DUI's before body cameras were involved
Levi Tollefson - agreed. In small towns, I bet DUI coverups happen all the time.
All the time..show your badge the officer will say okay and you drive away it's not fair but it happens all the time... I know this for a fact over and over and over. it's called Brotherhood of the badge.⚔🇺🇸⚔
Even With Body Cams They Still Get Away With It If The Department Agrees To It So Body Cams Or Not,That's Not The Issue. The Issue Is Cops Thinking They Are Above The Law When They Aren't!
Imagine how many regular people get away with driving drunk daily
Dui's they've been murdering and pillaging
I had boss just like this guy for almost 2 years. And he used his power and age to manipulate every possible situation many times just to vindictive. Justice feels good in side
I wish I could shake the hands of these two real men, the two officers in this video, for doing a superb job of doing their job.
Police begging other police is embarrassing, this drunk cop should be ashamed
What a p*ssy
@@waynewest4104 you're ignoring the big picture....
Can you imagine the authority this petulant toddler has been granted in his station as a Lieutenant?? Unbelievable
The deputy should be written up for the time he took to get this man out. I would have been yanked out in 4 seconds
ilondonmodel Alias, just take Brian to jail and be done with it. A civilian would have been placed in the back seat by mid point. Brian is an embarrassment to his department. And not everyone knows who he is and what he is, a drunk!
Just drove by that exact same spot, they're still talking about it

Funniest comment award 🥇😂😂😂 I laughed so hard at that 👍
i passed by just a hour ago they are still arguing the taser came out 4 more times

😂😂 love it.
"Let's talk about it." Freaking tase him already. That was painful!! I also hope they question every stop Brian ever made in his career.
He couldn’t stop wanting to talk about it over and over again
This cop didn’t even lose his job over this. They “took his badge” but he somehow kept his job.
auxil. function, supply role, or something I think. Slashed salary.
Of course he didn’t get fired.
I find it rather incredible that he got no jail time, just probation, and that he was removed as being a sworn officer BUT he was rewarded with a job in the Sheriff’s office. Anyone else would have been under the jail. Shame on the Sheriff’s Office.
no doubt!
Shame on the dishonorable cowards!
Do you know if he lost his drivers license ?
Just think all it took was a Cab call
Amen!
"We're not above the law." Best quote from a cop to a cop ever
I was pleasantly surprised when I heard this. Good for him.
Hogwash. He KNEW he was being recorded. Never assume people mean what they say when they are on camera. Ever.
He was so drunk that was the last thing he thought about. Bad enough you are a Lieutenant but your behaviour is an embarrassment to the other officers who lay their lives on the line every day. In addition to the amount of fatal drunk-driving accidents, they witness far too often. If he was trying to save face he failed but was very successful in showing his ass! Damn FOOL! lol@@Remembering-rq6si
an0n xx I agree. He would have been Tasered for sure. But I guess it's a brotherhood mentality.Maybe sober he was an awesome person and a great cop I read a funny T-shirt in a bar It said ”instant asshole just add alcohol” 17 years bartending I can vouch for that🤔😂
Yeah the hypocrisy gets pretty blatant, seems to always be this us vs them mentality. This sort of crap is why I now only drink very rarely, it makes you physically sick and idiotic. This guy literally behaved like a child trying to be allowed to stay up just five more minutes
Can you imagine how many fellow officers may have let him go before this?! Could have killed someone if this didn’t finally happen! Thankful for this officer.
“Kid gloves”, and he’s got a gun. Imagine, if that was just one of us. We would have been dragged out, tased, yelled at, and had guns pointed in our faces, “and you all know it”. Meter maids for politicians, is what they are now. And getting worse!

His plan was to negotiate with the officers until he was sober enough to pass the tests. Almost worked.
20:10 "Let's make a deal." Lol!
Nah...it didn’t..this officer wasn’t going to jeopardize his career! For a DRUNK fellow officer!
Exactly, wasting the most amount of time in his mind to sober up.
No way he could kill off enough time. He was hammered and that was the alcohol doing all the talking. Feel bad for him but he could have made a better decision earlier on. He was worried about his career and should have thought about that aspect earlier. Cheers to the officer Morrison, tough on him too, I am sure.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Let's make a deal.......
Wow.
The utter disregard for the untenable position he put his fellow co-workers in it just blows my mind. People like this just should not be in this type of job.
Officer Morrison I hope you're promoted times 7 over by now!
Outstanding morals, outstanding work!
Yes imagine how many cops got away with DUI before the body cams

Your honor, maybe we can just sleep it off?
Reckless driving while intoxicated + Resisting + Lying + Trying to use his position to avoid arrest = Game Over
Showing his police ID before his drivers license tells you a lot about this guy. I wonder how many times he's been allowed to "sleep it off" in the past.
Probably about as many times as he said let me go sleep it off
