Both sides were ridiculous. She was acting like a uncontrollable child, but they were a little childish too. The whole “ma’am have you been drinking?” was retaliation because of the way she was speaking to them. And it’s amazing how they smelt the odor of marijuana but didn’t find anything.

This woman was a coworker of mine. Her office was right next to mine until she was fired. This was a position she held outside but simultaneous to her assembly woman role. How you see her acting is exactly how she acted all the time. Rude and entitled. At least that was my experience. I’m sure she has another side to her.

But the way to fight an illegal search is by contesting it in court (the _fruit of the poisonous tree_ doctrine guarentees that you can't be sentenced over evidence uncovered by illegal means), not by resisting a law enforcement officer. I know it has been quite _en vogue_ in the US lately to forcefully resist LEOs - and sometimes for good reason as they seem to be quite violent themselves - but it's not like this woman was in any danger to be shot or otherwise harmed. The worst that could've happend is that they actually uncovered something illegal in her car. Which in a legal search is exactly what we want the police to do (find evidence of crime) and in an illegal search is without any consequence...

They did take her blood, and it did contain some alcohol, but the accident was caused by the driver who rear-ended her while she was at a stop light. 5:40 2nd cop indicates smell of marijuana, but was never seen near the car. No evidence of marijuana was found, even in the blood test. Cops lied about smelling marijuana. Initially, she agreed to let the cops search her car, but changed her mind after she talked to her lawyer. No crime was committed. Cops did harass the woman, who was already traumatized by the accident. 6:30 Cop seems to be (intentional?) blocking the bodycam. (Has the appearance of) Smell of marijuana was never confirmed. Drawing of blood was a 4th Amendment violation, and also counts as assault/torture (a crime). Searching of the car was also 4th Amendment violation, as she refused after talking to her lawyer, also turned up nothing. There was no probable cause, false arrest. It's unknown if the other driver intentionally drove into the Assembly Woman's car, so the police could harass the woman. Additional reading. Possibly, politically motivated attack on Maria Rodriguetz-Gregg. Four months after her (false) arrest, Rodriguez-Gregg withdrew from her campaign seeking re-election in the upcoming November 2017 New Jersey election.
I really appreciated how she calmly reapplied her lip gloss in the initial stages of the stop. One must look their best while insisting on an ambulance and claiming fear and trauma.

She was the victim , she was first hit by a wreck less driver from behind then the corrupt cops came and falsely accused her of being drunk and high and when she called them out for it they arrested her on bs charges . The blood test confirmed she was innocent and had no traces of drugs or alcohol in her!

Ok, but they gave her a DUI... even though they found no marijuana in her system or possession. I get the urge to take the cop's side on this but I'm really at a loss for what she did other than be difficult. @@marke.d.3921 they gave her a DUI for the alcohol, not marijuana. she said she was smoking cigarettes before so that's probably what they were smelling when they wanted to search (plus car crash so gas smell n other shit was probably mixed in). when she was talking on the phone it wasnt for anything related to the crash, it was cause she wanted to refuse to comply with anything the officers were doing (she completely ignored them for half the time she was on the phone) so she was arrested for not complying and obstruction. yea, i agree it can seem unfair, but its still legal for them to do. but ye the us criminal justice system can be wonky and funk, but it all depends

A friend of mine decades ago got a DUI after being rear-ended on the way to work at 7am. Turns out she blew over the limit from drinking the night before. Even though she was the victim of a rear-ended collision .. they tested both parties and she went to jail .. it is what it is. My friend did it all with grace .. no complaining .. took her responsibility even though nobody would have known otherwise had it not been for getting rear-ended. That's grace

5:40 2nd cop indicates smell of marijuana, but was never seen near the car. No evidence of marijuana was found, even in the blood test. Cops lied about smelling marijuana.
Initially, she agreed to let the cops search her car, but changed her mind after she talked to her lawyer.
No crime was committed. Cops did harass the woman, who was already traumatized by the accident.

A friend of mine decades ago got a DUI after being rear-ended on the way to work at 7am. Turns out she blew over the limit from drinking the night before. Even though she was the victim of a rear-ended collision .. they tested both parties and she went to jail .. it is what it is. My friend did it all with grace .. no complaining .. took her responsibility even though nobody would have known otherwise had it not been for getting rear-ended. That's grace

I like the supervisor’s calm demeanor when the junior officer presented the facts to him and his prompt decision to arrest her for obstruction. He wasn’t phased by the officer’s statement that she claim to be an assemblywoman.
