As a CDL driver, if we get a ticket or DUI in our personal vehicle, penalties are harsher on us then normal drivers as we should know the law and should know better. I’m shocked Police aren’t held to the same standards.
It's crazy that cops forget they work for the city. He probably just stopped that man from killing a woman and her kid & they're feeling sorry for him losing money or his job 🤦🏾♂️
Ok please do not ever compare cops to these corrupt goons. I will stand by the blue wether you like it or not and i will resist the temptation of ACAB. If you hate cops then you are gonna love me kid.
What makes it worse is that they KNOW everything is being recorded, and the video will be made public, and they let him go anyway. This shows the arrogance of how they know they will not be held accountable.
Yeah it is pretty reprehensible. I do think the drunk chief should still get his reitrement, whatever it was, but he should also pay the penalties for the drunk driving, including having been booked into jail.
@@joshjje don't know if I agree. He's a law enforcement officer breaking the law. If a doctor intentionally did something that hurt a patient or a banker was stealing funds, they'd be gone regardless of retirement. Getting a DUI usually statistically means he's been doing it quite a bit. It's also unlikely their first time breaking the law and sweeping it under the rug.
I disagree with you the law states that its at the officer discretion who they place under arrest and who they do not. Since he was never under arrest and placed in cuffs he was only detained. So therefore the chief made the decision to handle this in a political way in which it would have been handled in court the same way.
Then the sergeant says to the young cop "it's your call if you want to proceed further or just let him go." Wow! Hopefully the new generation of police officers take their jobs and their responsibilities more seriously than both the sergeant and the chief.
These guys are so corrupt I'm really stunned by their reaction. They're basically telling each other if the cameras weren't rolling they'd be letting him off the hook. If you and I would be in the same situation they'd already have us in the back of the cruiser heading towards jail.
Every single time that an officer is pulled over for drunk driving and there is body cam footage like this its the same thing "oh times have changed y'know we got these things now *points to body camera*"
The cop at the end talking about how "it's going to kill him". Yes and your JOB is to stop anyone from putting others in jeopardy. This is just disgusting.
@O’Fallenmissouripd share this video because these officers clearly neglected their sworn duty to protect and serve and showed a derelict of duty and clearly two sets of rules apply. One for them and one for us. It’s also appalling that it’s clearly stated the he’s done this before also with no consequences. I tagged the O’Fallon Missouri PD on a FB post that I shared this with. It’s disgusting to say the least and these officers should be ashamed of themselves. Make your post public and bring as much attention to this as is possible. Anyone who shares the road with this alcoholic and any parent with children on the roads should be outraged and don’t be afraid to let your feelings be known. Shame on these officers . You failed to protect your community and are clearly sending the wrong message. His status should never have played a part in this inexcusable decision.
It wasn't just the Chief. The Sgt would have likely just let him drive off, if the incident hadn't been recorded on multiple cameras. He even complained how modern technology made it harder for them to break the law "discretely".
This is on camera? on RUclips? EVERY SINGLE PARTICIPANT should be fired and prosecuted, no pension, no move to another department, nothing. This is corruption plain and simple. Where does it stop? Find him at the scene of an assault? A murder?
@@DavidSmolej You would have let him go on driving and maybe wipe out a bus load of high school band members? Or a mother of 4 on the way home from work? You have zero morals.
I was not prepared for how this ended. What a disappointment! I just hope that since everything is recorded, there'll be repercussions to those who embarrassed the Police Department.
I was really disappointed too. I assumed that since the video made it to RUclips that they’d done the right thing. If that guy goes out and kills someone, at least there’s video evidence of these officers being complicit enablers. Disgraceful!
No need to wonder, the video showed you. Drunk chief gets driven home by sober chief, and they have "a long talk" on the way home. Without cameras, drunk chief likely gets to "sleep it off", or just gets a ride home from the first officer. If anything, this shows why plenty of cops were resistant to body cams. When they can just say "nothing happened", and that is the end of it, that is one thing. When they have to actually delete evidence, that is another. Body cams are a god-send to honest cops, as they document everything, but they are the enemy of cops that do not want everything documented. A cop that does not want everything documented, automatically deserves everything they have done looked into.
The Sgt. asked: "Is it all on the dash cam?...This is a tough day and age...all these electronic things, and technology." Had the other cop said no, (not recorded on the dash cam) and no evidence from the body cams I am sure the Sgt. would've let the chief off the hook without having the other corrupt chief of police intervene. They want other people to obey the laws, but the same laws don't apply to them. This is why I have zero respect for most cops.
A few years ago I was 20; got pulled over after drinking 2 beers 2 minutes from my house for failing to use my turning signal. I was honest with the officer when he told me I smelled of beer, I passed all the sobriety tests, blew under the legal limit, but was underage. I went to jail, car impounded, lost my first full time job, had to go to DWI classes, AA meetings, tons of $$$$ down the drain. This guy was tanked and got a ride home. I deserved what I got, and learned a valuable lesson. However, this selfish chief should have to deal with the repercussions just like anyone else who decides to drive impaired.
My mother married a cop and the amount of times he flashed his badge and got let of was disgusting. If police break the law they should be held accountable and suffer the consequences like most people do
Higher standards, in my opinion. They carry guns and drive cars immune to traffic laws. They have the potential to be far more dangerous to the public. Plus the whole oath to public safety thing...
sheriff neske while driving him home: so what'd you drink buddy, you had a good time didn't you. you should've invited us you sob😂, ill get everything taken care dont worry. that dui will be written off as a warning for speeding
i was in law enforcement...its called 'tinning'. when you see the cop come up to your car window, you 'tin them' or show them your badge and usually they will let you go. but there are some police depts that dont respond positively to this so it doesnt always work
What about the truck driver who is weeks away from his retirement and is in the same situation? Think he's getting let off? This department needs to be held accountable. Oh and what if he hit a family coming home from the movies and kills them, that will be actionable then. So a death cause by a cop is but the rest of us don't get the same pass? Disgusting. Congress gets the same pass. Insider trading, spying, rigging, using campaign funds personally, etc.
Fact is we'd have never even known this if there were no body cams. This is why every officer needs to be cammed. Imagine a police chief driving drunk and still getting respect from other cops, what example does he set for the society. The corruption and the rot is too deep.
I am not sure who is responsible for the release of this footage, but whoever it is deserves a lot of credit. Even the footage could easily have disappeared.

This should be a no brainer, treat him no differently than another citizen! Holy crap, I am so sick of seeing all this double standard for Police officers. You should be 100% accountable and even more so as a law enforcement officer, you should already KNOW better!

@@Brute-uh5gy we don’t need to say he should be held to a “higher standard.” He should be held to the same standard as you and me. He *ought* to be held to a higher standard, but the standard should be good enough. Dude belongs in jail for the night and stripped of his “civil service” . He’s a loser. Not a help to society. If you take up a position like that, the last thing you get is a free pass. A “free pass” should go to the waitress working 12 hour shifts, trying to put food on the table and barely breaks the legal limit. That’s where the free pass should go. "is it all on dash cam and all the contact so far?" that statement is horrifying. they wanted to let him go but cant do it on camera. if you try to protect a bad cop, you are a bad cop.
The chiefs a bad cop? The first cop did the exact right thing by calling his Sgt on the scene, Sgt eventually ends up with do what you gotta do meaning tret this like you'd any other dui stop
My father was a police sergeant in the 70’s. He would be stopped almost nightly for drunk driving, and was always let go to DRIVE home. Of course, he’d be in a foul mood and I’ll spare you the rest of the story. My point is that everyone suffers when idiots get behind the wheel while intoxicated. This “Chief” should have been held accountable.
In the 70s, nobody cared about drunk driving. It wasn’t until the 1990s and MADD that society started to take it seriously, laws got changed, legal limit got dropped from (generally) .15 to .08 and police departments started implementing zero tolerance - now in many places .15 is considered aggravated DUI and carries a stiffer penalty
As soon as someone fails that sobriety test they normally read your rights to you and takes you to jail. It’s the injustice I can’t deal with it’s disrespectful and disgusting 🤮 This man could’ve killed someone driving drunk
My dad was a fireman, and he skated on "professional courtesy" for years. He'd get pulled over, and the cops would let him go, because they knew him. Maybe if they'd arrested him, he would have quit drinking and driving.
I've known people for many years too but if they drink and drive they need to be held accountable. Innocent people die everywhere because these drunks are selfish and shameful. Shame on both chiefs!!
This man has been an officer since 1979 I can't imagine how many people he's locked up to get a pass like this is wrong he could've killed alot of innocent people. DISGUSTING police work.
Are you suggesting it’s a bad thing he may have locked people up? That they were all innocent or something? Just saying, most of the time it’s a good thing to get criminals off the streets. Maybe out of respect for his position they didn’t throw him in the drunk tank for the night, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t get a DUI and wasn’t held accountable. Normally in these situations if they do take the person to jail they’re released as soon as they sober up anyway and then are given a court date. I’m sure he had his day in court.
You know he knows the law and he know to have a sober driver or take a cab. I think he should have been arrested and the chief that took him home aid and abet a criminal. I know this is a dwi and I realize they are friends but this is also enabling and if you truly care you would have let him get arrested. I realize he's due for retirement and I don't know what the consequences are for him but he should have been arrested for a DWI. Now this video is on the internet....the good o'boys don't give a good look.

Its a tough day in general living in that terrible place. Not that I think he should get away with a slap on the wrist, but Id bet itd be a lot different if things havent gotten so bad there over the years since michael brown got shot
Absolutely INESCUSEABLE!!!! THIS time he was driven home. How many OTHER times has he driven under the influence without being caught. Officer, Next time that chief drives drunk and kills someone, YOU should be held accountable!
When the sergeant shows up, he immediately tries to see how they can let the chief off with “is it all on the dash cam?” and “has he said anything (self incriminating)?” You know that if none of it had been recorded, they would have simply taken him home and no report.
I'm not a cop. I'm a regular guy. Self employed. Have been for 25 years. He should face the penalty of the law. But, I get it. The closer someone is to "family", the more breaks you cut them. Imagine if you caught your wife or brother taking $5 out of your wallet and they said they just forgot their wallet and were gonna pay you back. Or your best friend. You'd be okay with it. Or if your husband or wife got home from the bar and he/she was drunk. And you found out he/she drove himself/herself home. You wouldn't call the cops and and then show them home security footage of them pulling in the driveway to prove they were driving. Or if they ran into the mailbox when they got home because they were drinking. But if it were a stranger, you'd press charges/call the police, etc. What I'm getting at is that the closer someone is to "family" the more likely it is you're going to look the other way. To police, military, certain other professions, etc... although they aren't family, they are in that "zone" where they may feel close to family and are treated as family. If let your husband or wife off (example above) after driving themself home while drunk and not turn them in because "Well gee...I'm not a cop. That's not my job" , then you're saying you're okay with them driving drunk and putting lives on the line. But that's the excuse most folks reading this will make. "Well gee that's different.....". When I got my DUI, I was exactly on the legal limit 0.08. I didn’t get any special treatment. I was charged, went to jail, had to get vehicle out of impound, had to do a 24 hour class, had to put a breathalyzer on my vehicle, & paid a ton of $$$. Yet this guy gets a ride home & gets to keep his record clean. That’s not right!!!
That sergeant would totally let him go if he could. “That’s the trouble with all this technology these days.” Basically he’s talking about the fact that there’s no way to hide the means by which they have to measure his level of intoxication. In other words they can’t help him get out of it.
Exactly. In one aspect I feel like he's trying to be understanding of the "older days" or whatever and that this was the norm.... but that doesn't make it the slightest bit less illegal. And officers having a problem being recorded and held accountable like this sergeant should be fired on the spot. Like seriously, no questions asked. Why is this man still in a position to carry around a firearm that he is entitled to use against the public when his decision making is obviously questionable at best. It's also extremely concerning that the sergeant has to reassure the arresting officer that him and his unit will still have his back. That is a major problems cops are facing these days when they turn in a "bad cop". They end up on a call and literally nobody will come to cover them, hoping they get killed on the call. Nothing about the US police is "OKAY" or constitutional, but somehow we allow them
@@babebell357 This. That's exactly what they did, they turned off their body cams, conducted an incomplete field test, gave him a ride home and zero charges for driving completely wasted. Your average citizen would have been arrested, charged with a misdemeanor and have to pay a huge fine.

Police Station....arrested me blow the breathalyzer ......Again....then realizing that I'm not screwed up and at the lowest level of any kind of registration.... they said you can go..... and when I got to the door ....they said Stop ! come back here ....hold on we got to give you some tickets.......and they gave me like eight tickets which is ridiculous and everything got thrown out of court except DWI...... unfair

I read the drunk chief's lawyers statement. It was blatantly obvious they made sure there was not enough evidence to convict him of DUI. If you fail a PBT, a citizen is instantly under arrest for suspicion of DUI and taken to the station for a real BAC test. Driving him home skipped this so there would be no solid evidence other than a FST that holds no weight. This is a shame, and the other chief who drove him home and made sure there was no evidence has already retired. Disgusting.

Glad he is off the force. I wonder how he sleeps at night knowing he did this after he and his deputies put so many others in jail for the exact same thing. Sweet dreams retired police chief Hall.
It disgusts me that the Sergeant that arrives on scene says "this is a tough day and age man, ya know, when they insist on these electronic things and technology" Which is a dog whistle for "we should be able to let him go scot free" This drunk police Chief could kill someone just like any regular citizen. It's shameful. Any of us would get arrested, forced to make bail, and our car would be impounded. Do you think when cops get away with breaking the law with little to no punishment that it reinforces their bad behavior? I do.

I would really appreciate if someone could explain to me why a cop arresting another cop is this traumatizing. Person gets drunk, drives, endangers lives, and then cop who pulls them over acts like its the worst day of their life. I'm not in law enforcement but I guess for an officer if he ends up ending the career of another officer or arresting another officer then it essentially kills his/her own chance of promotion or career progression and could lead to fellow officers not having their back in a life and death situation, I expect that is what an officer might put forward as rationale, even though I personally don't agree with that rationale

us vs them mentality. we saw this recently in Austin TX where it was revealed cadets are explicitly taught "to think of the public as cockroaches they are at war with."
Because cops value the lives of their comrades over the life's of civilians they swore to protect. Look at uvalde TX situation. They put their lives over classroom full of children. Look at the recent situation with the shooter in the mall. The security guard was telling the cop what was going on and the cop wanted to wait for back up until the security guard said that the cop inside the mall was the one who got shot. Only then the cop run in to do try and take the assailant. Cops are taught from day 1 to back the blue over everything and everyone first.

Check the city’s news involved and you will see that 4 days after this happened an “anonymous “ person called in the story. Likely it was one of those criminal police officers you people are whining about.
While I did too, I remember when we were in our teens, breaking small traffic rules and somebody in the car had illicit drugs on them, cops would let them go and made sure everyone made it home safe (confiscated goods of course). So yes, cams are great for both sides if something goes south. But everyone looked out for each other then. Now with cams everyone is obligated to arrest/sue without thought of consequence. This guy should have been cited or arrested either way though.
@@heilzelynsky9746 yea cause when cops drink and drive and hit your family members they won’t die because it’s a police officer so we should encourage them to do the things they arrest us for. Why even have laws at all? Lets face it, when your out driving in this condition, a little reality is probably exactly what any of us needs (including police, civic leaders, religious leaders etc)
As a retired cop I am deeply saddened by this behaviour. All cops know the rules. I once had to deal with a colleague I went through police college with as a drunk driver however he was a danger to the public and was punished in the normal way just as a civilian would be. I felt very bad that he had put me in a such a position but I was happy I didn’t have to tell a family that a loved one had been killed by a DD that night.
I hate that you are low-key apologizing for doing your job AND the right thing! I suppose you may be used to doing it with your colleagues. Please, know you don't need to apologize for anything, and if a colleague disagrees with your stance, they are part of the problem.
This is so gross. The fact that they didn't have him get out of his car early on is crazy. Stop complimenting the guy, stop making excuses for him and treat him the way you'd treat anyone else in this situation. He put others at risk. Classic example of a couple of the "good ones" turning a deliberate blind eye to their bad apples. Screw them.
Can you imagine how many times in 43 years he's broken the law and put lives at risk and was given "Blue courtesy?" The arriving Cpt. shares how all these pesky electronic accountability devices have their hands tied, otherwise...let him go. The arriving Chief rewards his criminal behavior with a hug and a free ride home. Disgusting.
Professional courtesy has to work both ways, as I told some young smartass one time. "I don't drive through your jurisdiction like a crazy man, speeding and being drunk and such, and I require the same courtesy from you. By the way, I asked for your driver's license, not your badge." (That guy wasn't drunk but speeding like crazy and he got a citation; rest assured if he was drunk he'd have gone to jail.)
Totally agree with you. these 2 chiefs need to be held accountable for their actions. I hope someone could send this video to TV station to broadcast this incident.
And cops wonder why people don’t trust them…..Lol They’re a joke. They could care less about you, but when it’s them or one of their own on the other side, the compassion comes out. Ridiculous and shameful.
The police chief that came on the scene should’ve been disciplined. Public safety is the reason why drunk driving is a crime and it should not be compromised, discriminated, or diminished in any way. Too many innocent lives and families have been affected. That was poor judgement and sends the wrong message.
He was charged with the DUI, just not arrested and transported to the station. Police officers can actually do that at their discretion. They can issue an OTA (order to appear), although not a common practice, but in some misdemeanor cases, you can actually do that. That’s why the police officer’s chief told him to do what he has to do. I am not trying to defend anyone here, but what the officers did was totally legal.
*And it's been going on FOREVER!* Some people don't understand why a lot of people don't automatically consider all cops to be "heroes." And don't believe it's just a "few bad apples." You have on Police Chief breaking the law and endangering the lives of the public. And how many policemen were standing right there enabling the crime and covering it up? How many bad apples is it really?
I don’t get it. What don’t you trust them with now? Doubt they’ll lock you up for a DUI? lol Seriously. What can an officer do to you that you’re all skeptical about..??

Yeah the way the sergeant talks about hating cameras because he can't break the law. That right there should show that he doesn't have the moral integrity to always do the right thing.
The cop who pulled him over was scared he was going to eventually have some kind of accident and not be able to testify in court, when he found out old boy was a police chief from a couple towns away
The sergeant who let him off retired a week later. The Hazelwood chief was never charged and is still working towards his retirement and full pension. Nothing was investigated.
i like how the sarg immediately asks and complains about the exitance of video evidence. i'm sure him and the chief have been nothing but honest their entire careers lol
The Sargent asked if there was any video recording because if there wasn't he was going to advise the police officer to escort the drunk Chief of Police home and forget about the incident.

The right thing to do in the first place would've been for the drunk chief to admit he's drunk, then ask to be breathalised first up & state that he will not contest the reading at any point in the future then to get in the squad car & insist on getting charged (or ticketed whatever) & ask to do it at the station after the officer parks up his vehicle which he would've been happy to do. He could've even asked to ride in the front so it looked like a ride along which the officer probably would've also done... & take the hit on his career if that's what it meant. Makes me sick how they treat other officers. They need to be consistent and either be this nice to everyone or be dicks to everyone like they do the general public
Wouldn’t want them doing this for everyone because people would just continue to drive drunk and endanger lives, but yeah they do need to treat police the same as a civilian when they break the law
Blue blanketing an older cop to save face is disturbing. He's has been passed the 30 yr mark in 2007. Every person at this scene should lose their job and benefits. A crime covered up is still a crime.
I don't understand how this is "being put in a bad position." He broke the law plain and simple. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. The fact he's a chief, to me, would make me stick to the law even more. He knows better! He's out there endangering people. Had there been no body cam he'd have been let off by both Sgt and the arresting officer. Him doing this crime repeatedly shows he hasn't learned and doesn't care.

@@madwhitehare3635 just an opinion, since it didn't happen of course I don't but the one officer was condemning the body cams and talking about how if "things" were different and trailed off then said how they already had it recording and called it in. That's where I derived my opinion from
What a pathetic bunch of law enforcement in this town for letting this man go. It’s all about the power. Should be held accountable just like everyone else!
The way the cops are talking about the cameras and saying "I don't know what to do", this shows that they didn't want to do anything about it, but cover it up. Corrupt all the way.
just lovely.... the state I live in. Quite pathetic. My son died in a car accident from a drunk driver. He was 19 years old. So happy to see these officers have the safety of their community at heart.. NOT.
I'm so sorry for your loss these officers should be forced to hear from 100 victims of drunk drivers so they can know there are real people who get hurt or killed by letting people like this sorry excuse for a chief off easy
The patrol officer and the sergeant both did their jobs, and the sergeant was willing to back up the officer's choice to arrest. They were both obviously very concerned about the politics and optics of the situation, and both knew the right course of action, but they put the decision on their own chief, so that either way that it played out, they were following their chain of command's decision. The two chiefs are the two responsible for this double standard. On the plus side, the younger officer was obviously uncomfortable with letting the chief go, and I hope that's a sign of the trend of some of this "good ol' boy" cronyism being on its way out. The sergeant sort of lamented that dash cams and body cams were making it more difficult to let fellow cops off for crimes you caught them committing. Hopefully newer cops are coming up in an environment where accountability is the norm rather than the exception, but there are a lot of old school cops out there who will still be serving for at least another two or three decades.
How many people has the Chief put away in his career for doing the exact same thing? But then when he does it... "well we'll just use our own discretion."

All criminals, cops and civilians should be treated equally when breaking the law. This officer seems to be exerting too much effort to find ways to save his own. Sickening!!!
Anyone is going to try and get out of it. I dated a cop and drank with them often. It's TRUE, they will more often let the drunk cop go free or find him a quick ride out of there!
This a definitely a stain on this department! It was handled very incorrectly. Anyone else would have been taken to jail ...not home! And people wonder why cops loose our trust!
"He and I are going to have a long talk on the way home." Seriously? They ALL need to be fired and prosecuted for dereliction of duty. If you make an example of them when they do this you weed out corruption.
I agree with the first half but not the second. Unfortunately history has proven you can weed out the individuals for specific events but that only removes those specific people and more always replace them. The problem is it's natural for us to form bonds and relationships with those around us and when were put in positions that can radically alter peolife paths with things like career murder, prison time, or even life/death there will be a hesitation and desire to protect those you have relation to. I cant say I'd jump in front of a bullet to save a random person, but my own mom or brother? My body would be moving before my brain processed what's happening. It's that same instinct that causes scenarios like this. That said, it's understandable why these types of situations are so hard on police and why they wish the cameras werent recording but that's why they have bodycams now. Cameras are suppoed to bypass all that and force them to stay in line with the law without prejeduce or preference. I'm shocked at the ending of this video and am very curious to see how this is going to play out for the second police chief, I assume he just threw himself under the same bus running his friend over, time will tell.
So the message is....if a police chief gets "hammered" and CHOOSES to drive...he is above the law! I'm sure the police departments that truly have integrity aren't embarrassed over this!
This happened back in May (2022) and the new O'Fallon police chief has stated that he will be "looking in to the matter". Still the original officer who stopped him was very foolish to be intimidated by his police chief who knew he was retiring a few days later so did not give a hoot since he would be gone. Note how the police chief told the officer it was his call as did his sergeant thereby throwing that officer under the bus in the event of any trouble down the line over it.
@@teresa3070 Not really. The police chief wouldn't have jumped out hid bed if it was one of us at the wheel of that car, and we would have been taken to jail, with a shiny pair of handcuffs. The actions of everyone involved in this video reinforces the belief that many people have today that law enforcement can not be trusted. These cops are pathetic!
I’m all for giving people a break, but not with drinking and driving. He should know better than anyone else the effects of drinking and driving? I would believe that with the video being released that charges were hopefully filled and he wasn’t let go.

Of course, he’d be in a foul mood and I’ll spare you the rest of the story. My point is that everyone suffers when idiots get behind the wheel while intoxicated. This “Chief” should have been held accountable.

Sounds like a good ole’ boy.

And every supervisor tells the cop "Its up to you". No. You're the boss. Make the call. Don't put it on them. Do your job.
This stuff is why no one trusts the police. Its blatantly obvious that they believe there is a justice system for civilians, and another system for them.
Police are civilian, they just dress up like they are in the army.
How could you not understand the "comradery" as they call it, and the taboo nature of subjecting one of your own to your police procedure. Once you've arrested one of your "own", you can jeopardize your whole career and put a huge target on your back. It's like not snitching in prison
I'm not saying it's right, I'm just saying it's not very hard to understand.
us vs them mentality. we saw this recently in Austin TX where it was revealed cadets are explicitly taught "to think of the public as cockroaches they are at war with."
Well it looks like he got a ride home and a nice talk. Thanks for not showing favoritism and thanks for not making anyone above the law. BS.

This is so gross. The fact that they didn't have him get out of his car early on is crazy. Stop complimenting the guy, stop making excuses for him and treat him the way you'd treat anyone else in this situation. He put others at risk. The arriving Chief rewards his criminal behavior with a hug and a free ride home. Disgusting.
Professional courtesy has to work both ways, as I told some young smartass one time. The police chief that came on the scene should’ve been disciplined. Public safety is the reason why drunk driving is a crime and it should not be compromised, discriminated, or diminished in any way. Too many innocent lives and families have been affected. That was poor judgement and sends the wrong message.

He even gave the drunk driver a hug straight away.
I thought this thing only happens in 3 rd world countries' police force ?
That Chief didn't care, he was less than 30 days from retirement. He knew he would be gone if this surfaced.
Shameful. This needs to be further investigated, and those who did not follow the law held accountable.

@John Bob Fossett I have ZERO RESPECT for those officers
Well the young cop will lose his job if he doesn't follow the pecking order. His boss will find away to get him fired.
