Just their presence alone was terrifying! They would come to our School & talk to us. When we would walk home from School & saw a Policeman we would all say Hi Officer & they actually said hi kids, go straight home & do your homework. It was like another world back then in the 1970's. I miss those days to be honest. People were actually afraid of the Police, but not in a bad way...what a sad turn of events. Police were respected, feared & had presence. That's ALL gone now. Oh, I'm from Toronto Ontario Canada. We have the Royal Canadian Mounted Police too, it was so awesome to see a Policeman riding his horse on our Downtown street, so cool. People would stop to pet the horse too. I still have respect for our Police force in Toronto & just because there are a few bad apples doesn't mean it spoils the whole bunch. I will admit that more Police Officers in Toronto are getting caught in illegal activity. I honestly don't know how a person today decides to be a Police Officer with everything that's going on in the world & that's why I still have respect for those who choose Policing as a Career. First year Officers are paid $30,000 in the first year which really sucks because I'm a Secretary & I make more than a Police Officer! @@poiu477 he didn’t commit a crime for running a light. It was first a traffic offense which later on turned into not pulling over and becoming a police pursuit, which is a crime in the state of wisconsin. In addition based off the facts of what the subject did, it was reasonable to assume that the officer had the right to go lights on and disregard a stop sign as per Wisconsin state law and police policies. But the guy decided to run a stop sign when by law he is not allowed to do especially when running from the cops. And lastly he was dui if he ran that light imagine the next light could be deadly if a car traveling through a yellow, which by the way Wisconsin traffic during night hours are yellow one direction of traffic and red in a different direction.
