Thanks for spending time on commandment number 8. I highlighted it in reading but didn’t spend the time to let it sink in that purity is more than an act, it also covers thoughts and desires on the inside.

Such a great chapter. You changed my mind Silvia! Aarons problem was weakness. It was not gentleness but a yielding spirit that led to grievous sin. Good traits misused are no longer those good traits! IE: Soft is not weak, wavering, or timid. Soft is tender, merciful, caring. Which takes immense strength! Especially in a world that doesn’t value the gentle character traits. My husband is a big softy but determined, strong, and protective. These are not in conflict anymore than love and justice.
You mention the Spanish word tesoro which reminds me that there used to be Tesoro gas stations and convenience stores all over the upper midwest. Their signs had a treasure chest on them.

As I think about the law and order of commandments given, I see the Bible summarized in cliff notes for the Israelites. Commandments 1-4, we are introduced to God our Creator who instructs Adam and Eve to worship Him, the Creator, and not the things He created like the awesome sun, moon and stars etc., or things they create or even themselves. He is it. One God. Him. He demonstrates rest for us before he instructs Adam and Eve about parenthood and Cain and Abel how to respect their parents in obedience. Obedience to God does not happen when we can't even honor our parents. Cain kills his brother, when we shouldn't murder. God's children left Him to marry into idol worshipping marriages in a sense of adultery, though adultery as we know came. Sin overfilled with not only adultery, but stealing not only livestock, but birthrights through lies, while family members wanted what others had coveting what wasn't theirs. God is awesome!
"Holy, not happy" -- Didn't EGW recently say that happiness is directly tied to holiness?
