This talk reminds me of a book "The Mission of God" by Christopher Wright...that book lays out how it's clear from scripture that God's original plan for the Jewish nation was specifically for evangelism...for spreading the knowledge of God throughout the Earth.
It's absolutely fascinating and really clarifies God's intent with the Hebrews in my opinion. "The big brother of the world" is spot on.
1:06:30 I was waiting for DA to bring in the correlation of Israel as the older brother who didn’t do his job of teaching his siblings, and Jesus stepping into that role instead. In the Desire of Ages (DAwithDA!) in chapter 39 Jesus is referred to as, “The elder brother of our race…”. Love this!
Grateful for this insight about Gods interest in saving the Egyptians as well by those who were willing to apply the blood on their doorpost. God is so ready to include the gospel call to all whilst the church has so many restrictions. Why so?

My word was "must". It was used a lot to express that it's not enough that the paschal lamb was slain but we must place the merits of Christ's blood on our souls. It is not enough to believe on Christ for forgiveness of sin we "must" constantly receive strength and nourishment from Him and His word. And she (EGW) goes on and on about our responsibilities as followers of Christ to come to the likeness of Him. And in reading this chapter Pharoah refused to come to the "must" of God's requirements for his life. God pleaded with him ten times (10 plagues) and he still was resistant to the invitation. I don't want to resist anymore. Let me live the "must" with love and joy in my heart.
My word is simple... the request of Pharoah was simple, but because he denied it so much pain followed. The requirement of the obedient to escape the angel of death was simple... and if they complied, they lived and were blessed. Simple.... yet for some it was "to hard" for their pride.
In the Bible stories I always wondered why the first born is made less important than the next son made the true heir of the first born blessing. Jesus is the true first born and now all that was said about that was insightful. Jesus shows through all the stories that the second Adam and second first born that is the true heir!!!
