All the videos are here on my channel.
This reading challenge will take us through all 60 chapters of Prophets and Kings. You can watch either here on RUclips or LIVE on Instagram. The videos are also archived on my Instagram page, but the sound and video quality are better here on RUclips.

Love when Ty is a guest on the DA sessions. So much goodness from both of these Godly men. My word for this chapter was REFLECT. Throughout the chapter, the theme of reflection is central-how our lives should reflect the character of Christ, how recognizing our own sinfulness helps us reflect His purity, and how, as we grow closer to Him, we reflect His love, righteousness, and grace more fully. The chapter speaks to how Christ’s influence, through the Holy Spirit, transforms us, and in turn, our lives mirror His divine nature. Today is 9.25.24.

I reading this chapter again, this time in connection to the Sabbath school lesson for this quarter. When I got to the paragraph about the Jewish leaders being in changed, I jumped up and came searching, knowing that Pastor David would not miss commenting on it…and I was right. What a passage indeed. Undoubtedly, inspired, and sobering.

Faith over Feelings: One of the recurring messages is that our feelings don’t always align with God’s reality. Just because we don’t feel forgiven doesn’t mean we aren’t. The chapter urges us to believe that we are pardoned, not because of our emotions but because God has promised it. This belief is an act of trust in His unwavering love. My word for this chapter was: BELIEVE - today is 9/22/24.

What a short and sweet chapter! My word for this one was COST. It captures not only the personal cost of sin but the unimaginable price God paid at Calvary to redeem humanity. It brings a profound weight to the idea of confession, as it’s not just about acknowledging our guilt but understanding the monumental sacrifice that was made for us. Today is 9/19/24.

42:31 You just said that we need to train our greens. The synapses in our rains automatically think, whenever we see something good to automatically think that God is good. Now I think God is good, and I hope that everybody thinks the same thing, but not based on synaptical, automated reactions. I think that we need to examine the evidence each time and based on new evidence or even on the old evidence, we conclude one more time, after thinking it through again that God is good. What you're talking about sounds a little bit like brainwashing. Now it's true. God does wash our brains, but not in quite the same way I think

This chapter was amazing, I loved every page and paragraph! My word was: REND - this word encapsulates the deep, transformative nature of true repentance that this chapter calls for-a heartfelt tearing away from sin and an openness to God’s transformative work in us. Today is 9/17/24.

Thought: Eve was led to doubt God’s Word, character and goodness. She and Adam, though they didn’t understand everything, had sufficient evidence of God’s goodness, love, power and provisional care. Her decision to allow doubt to drive her against the Word of God and to disobey and the results of her decision/action SHOULD BE EVIDENCE ENOUGH that we should never allow doubt to cause us to walk contrary to God’s Word.

What a marvelous chapter this was! My word for this chapter was: CALL. What is our call to respond? We are not left to struggle alone; Jesus has bridged the gap, and through Him, we can experience true transformation and communion with God. Lord, thank You for calling me out of sin and into Your marvelous light. Help me to respond to Your call with a willing heart, knowing that I cannot change myself but need Your power to transform me. Let me hear Your voice clearly in every aspect of my life, and guide me to follow the path You’ve set before me. In Jesus name, amen! Today is 9/5/24.

Let me see Your love in the world around me, and may I live in response to the great sacrifice You made for my salvation. Wow!! We did it! Praise Jesus, what a journey! I’m in tears! 😭 Jesus, please come and take us with You! This book took me a year to finish. I’m so thankful to Ellen White & her help she gave me to understand Scripture more. Thank you pastor David for your time and efforts to do these sessions, truly a blessing! My word for this chapter was: VICTORY. For the disciples and all believers, the victory of Christ becomes a personal experience. The chapter invites every believer to live in the light of this victory, to embrace the assurance that Christ’s triumph is our triumph, and to look forward to the day when we will fully experience the fruits of this victory in the new heavens and new earth. 🌍9/2/24

We’re getting close to the end. 😢 What a powerful chapter, “Go Teach all Nations”. I love Nathan Cranston and his family, great brothers and sisters in Christ! Thank you pastor Asscherick for having them on. My word for this chapter was: COMMISSION - Jesus did not leave His disciples to carry out this commission on their own. He promised the Holy Spirit to empower them, to give them the strength, wisdom, and courage they would need. This reminds us that while the commission is a great task, we are not left to our own devices. We are empowered by the same Spirit, and through this divine power, we can accomplish what would otherwise be impossible. What a journey this was! Today is 9/1/24.

This chapter was straight fire!! Amazing themes and Peter’s transformation! I had a couple of words for this chapter that I had a tough time choosing (Servanthood, Memory, Transform) but I went with “Follow”. Ellen White used it six times (unless I missed some) - the concept of following Christ is central to the chapter, as it encapsulates Peter’s call to discipleship, his restoration, and the ongoing instruction Jesus gives him about the nature of true leadership and service. The repeated command from Jesus to Peter - “Follow Me” - is pivotal, as it directs Peter not only in how he should live his life but also how he should approach his ministry and eventual martyrdom. Today is 8/31/24!

    1. “If that doesn’t light your fire then your wood is wet!” 😂😂😂 2. I used to think ‘double portion’ was twice as much of the Spirit as Elijah, but then I thought it might be a reference to him being the “heir” of Elijah’s ministry, the one to carry on the line, or legacy of what was started through him. Just as the eldest son would get twice as much inheritance as the others, as the one continuing the family name? 3. Very thought-provoking about the schools. Maybe Theology could be decoupled from the route into ministry and be a course for those simply interested in the subject, and ministerial training courses that simply share some content/have some overlap with it.

I’m surprised there aren’t many comments on this specific chapter. This is an amazing chapter and a chapter where I just was in worship mode and tears the whole time! So many gems 💎 in here! Jesus wants to be with us! Jesus wants to be invited in our homes! Jesus, the Creator of the universe wants our hearts and time! God walks with us, God is our Teacher, our Friend! How can you NOT feel this?! My word for this chapter was: BURNING - 🔥 reflecting the experience of the disciples on the road to Emmaus but also my personal desire to have a heart that burns with passion for God and His Word. It’s a spiritual awakening and deep connection with the Divine. Let’s press forward with a burning desire in our studies and our daily walk with Jesus. Today is 8/25/24.

    - Another thing I had thoughts on: to some extent I completely agree with Pr A’s comment that deep “deterrent exposure” to spiritualism is generally not helpful. However I still think anti-spiritualism ministries can serve a purpose, in reaching/convincing those very deep into the content they expose, or those very complacent about it. Neither group can see it for what it really is, the former because it is so familiar as to seem normal and benign (like when you live by a water treatment plant/trainline and you stop noticing the smell/noise and shaking), and the latter because they’re so dismissive of conspiracy ideas that they deny all danger and feel safe in consuming whatever they fancy. I think by showing a very clear link so many times in so much of what’s out there, these ministries can warn the one group and convince the other. That doesn’t mean it’s helpful or edifying for those to whom this isn’t a danger. I don’t think it would benefit me to often dive deeply into content from coming out ministries, drug or alcohol rehabilitation ministries, or various others, but they may be a lifeline for some, doing vital work in their corner of the vineyard. “And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God…” Eph 4:11-13.

Thought-provoking study. Like @Efigee I believe there was some level of genuineness in Ahab’s response because God acknowledges and honours what he does, whether it’s a real drop of repentance or simply believing God’s prophet and humbling himself. (Rather than continued hardening, disbelief, defiance and rebellion like Pharaoh.) If we compare His response to King Saul’s potentially more convincing show of repentance, we get the impression God wouldn’t have entertained it for a minute, would even have condemned it, if Ahab wasn’t demonstrating at least a hint of something he should.

Whoa! Tears came from my eyes multiples times in this chapter! Powerful, impactful, self-reflecting and a chapter to read over and over, to fully capture what Jesus went through, and how we have treated Him every time we sin! My word for this chapter was: DISSONANCE. I felt Pilate going back and forth, the spiritual battle going on externally, and internally in Pilate’s mind. “DISSONANCE” - reflecting Pilate’s cognitive dissonance as he struggles between his recognition of Jesus’ innocence and the external pressures to condemn Him. Pilate’s internal conflict, his repeated attempts to free Jesus, and his ultimate surrender to the crowd’s demands highlight the tragic consequences of rejecting divine truth and succumbing to worldly cries of injustice towards our Lord. This chapter serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of steadfast faith, discernment, and the courage to stand for righteousness in the face of this evil planet. 8/4/24

My word for this chapter was: VALUE - our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, if we deeply think and reflect…what is the value of love, peace, knowledge, forgiveness, mercy, that only Christ can bring into our souls? What value does God have in our lives? For Judas, the value of Christ was only thirty pieces of silver. The price of a slave! Let us think about that for a moment. The story of Judas serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of valuing Jesus above all else. If I prioritize the spiritual treasures He offers, I align myself with His will and find true fulfillment. Reflecting on the value of Christ helps me to live a life that honors Him and makes a positive impact on those around me. 7/30/24

This chapter made me feel, guilty. It was hard to read. My word for this chapter was arguably…RUSH: The hurried and frantic nature of the events described here, reflect an urgency of the Sanhedrin to condemn Jesus quickly, the quick succession of events, and the overall haste with which these critical moments unfolded. The secrecy and nighttime setting of the trial starkly contrast with Jesus’ public ministry, just goes to show the injustice and deceit of the religious leaders. Lord, please forgive me for the sins that I’ve committed that put you in that position and place in time. Today is 7/30/24.

"that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all." 1 John 1:5b; "for God is love." 1John 4:8b; "...that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding." Isaiah 40:28; "...saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come." Rev 4:8b; "that they might know that I am the Lord that sanctify them." Eze 20:12 ; "I am the Lord, your Holy One," Isa 43:15. "And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation." Exodus 34:6-7

My journal’s trailer version of this chapter is so good. “It is the hour of darkness. The sins of this lost planet will soon be laid on the Son of God, severing the cords that have tightly bound Him to God the Father. Heaven bends close as Jesus - overwhelmed, afraid and alone-must choose to become the doomed Sacrifice or abandon humanity to its evil end.” My word for this chapter was CRISIS. We are at a time of crisis, where Jesus had all the right to abandon us to our end, but instead, He chose to move forward and save us, God thank YOU for Your eternal sacrifice, we don’t understand it, but we accept it by faith. Thank YOU Jesus, is all I can say. Thank YOU Jesus. 7/23/24

Man, what a chapter! My word was almost going to be, “comfort”. But I had to choose, “UNION”. Sister White emphasizes the Vine, and how we are to be in continual union with Christ (the Vine). She emphasizes the essential connection between Christ and us! Just as the branches must stay connected to the Vine to bear fruit, we must remain in continuous union with Christ to thrive spiritually. 7/22/24

These chapters are getting so better each time, and closer to the end. 😢 My word for this chapter was: MUSE - I must contemplate on God’s infinite sacrifice that we will be studying for the rest of eternity. It captures the essence of this chapter by emphasizing deep reflection on Jesus’ sacrifice. Our contemplation leads to personal transformation, spiritual growth, and worship…it helps to align us with the profound truths of the Lord’s Supper. By “musing” on these themes, we can keep the memory of Jesus’ sacrifice alive and impactful in our lives. Today is 7/7/24.
