    We recently installed some of this cling film on a window in our church - because we have new, more precise livestreaming cameras than before, we could see into nearby house windows! So we put up the film on the angles shown on camera, to protect their privacy. 😉

    Fabulous fix for problems such as you described. I've had this type of cling up on a bathroom window that faced a neighbour's front door patio. It has provided privacy for 12+ years and counting :-) Easy-peasy to install and durable.

    I used a dollar store frosted shower curtain, cut it in half lengthwise, and thumb tacked it just above the window frame. In a mobile home park, everybody's close to each other. This blocks the view of a nosey neighbor whose living room window looks into mine, but still let's in plenty of light. Window cling panels can be costly and this is renter friendly too!

    I used to design and install faux stained glass using Plaids Gallery Glass and it was beautiful BUT, if left on the glass for a period of time it would leave an impression on the glass. I closed down my business because it wasn’t ok for me knowing this. I have used window film for some time in my own home since and love it. I keep the light but get the privacy. It’s a shame to cover your view but I totally get it. 😉

    I love the look. My daughter had the same problem, only instead of the country she is in a very nice development but when people or cars went by , they could still see in and through a front entry porch, she got the same as you. The reason I watched was that I have a unique problem. I have about a 8 ft of glass door bedroom closet and was thinking to use this as a solution. Im tired of the look and its not good feng shui. New doors are out of the question for the time being. thank you for a great tutorial.

    I put this on my glass sliding doors about 18 yrs ago and it’s still intact. The only thing I don’t like is that I can’t see out. My doors face the driveway where my front door is of my condo, so if I want to see who’s ringing the doorbell or who is in my driveway, I have to open the door. Would be great if we could see out without people seeing in and still have a nice design.

  • @karenkollects9277
    @karenkollects9277 7 дней назад

    My French doors have the blinds inside the doors which is a game changer. You should think about that in the future. I would not give up the view of the snow for anything. Also you could place curtains and tie backs. The film is too permanent you can’t take it off and on each time you want to view the snow.

    You popped up in my feed this morning and I've subscribed. I love what you're doing! I had an idea while at work yesterday to try and make faux stained glass out of lighting gels. I'm the House Electrician at one of our road house theaters here and I was organizing our gel box (gels are what we use to color our lights- heat resistant colored plasticy filmy stuff). We have sooo many cuts that touring shows have brought in that we will never use again and gels that can't be used anymore because they have ripped or have a tiny hole. I get to keep them if I want and, as an artist, I always keep them instead of tossing them out. Gels are definitely NOT biodegradable and I can't stand the thought of them ending up in a landfill or the ocean. I think I can use them to make cool colored light boxes and other things. I'm trying to figure out how to mount them to put into a window. They can't really be glued because you'd see any dried glue marks through the gel. I dunno. Either way, I'll figure something out...haha! I love the window film you've used here! This looks so cool!

    Maybe net curtains would have been a more versatile option for a living room really. You did say that you wanted privacy but also wanted to see the view at times. With this option you have lost the ability to see out of those French doors.
    The product is ideal for bathrooms etc. but otherwise I can't say that it's what I would have chosen.

    • @OurUpcycledLife
      @OurUpcycledLife  Год назад

      For sure! Thought about that, but wanted to still have lots of light get through, without being able to see in! Wouldn't have achieved that with curtains unfortunately.
