I don't think I'm gonna go this route for my front door glass but I just wanted to let you know I so appreciate your light, your positive energy, and your humor. I LOL'd almost immediately I needed that. I hope your day is a bright one and wish you nothing but joy, love and light in this journey of life.
okay ik this videos 2 years old but i had to stop and type this u are fabulous and they way ur talking bout this is literally getting me super excited for the project im gonna start
I've just done my own windows and I'm so happy with the results, and it's even more budget friendly than your method. You can make your own glass paints by mixing acrylic paint into elmer's clear glue..just a little paint to keep the colours translucent but you can experiment. for the lead lines i used "Tulip' Slick' black dimensional fabric paint, which comes in ready to squeeze little bottles that go a surprisingly long way. And boy does it stick! it doesn't come off and you can easily do curved patterns this way.
Goodwill, yard sales etc have an abundance of framed pictures from 25 cents on up. You can remove the existing picture/art work and use the glass and frame! Cheaper way to do it!
Oh my gosh. I'm so glad I found you. You are a burst of sunshine for me! I CANNOT WAIT to watch all of your videos! God bless!! You are amazing! My daughter & I LOVE to craft!!
Nice Mister Larrie - gallery glass is also a very fun group event thing. You can pull black and white templates of just about anything off the internet, lay them behind a piece of parchment paper, apply the leading, dry, add color to paint in picture, dry and EH VOILA! You have instant window clings. Lots of fun and a great way to add seasonal touches.
Oh Mr. Larrie! You are a gem, please know I have gleefully subscribed. The information at the start of the video was perfect. Much success. Well done and thank you...
I absolutely love this! It’s always been a dream of mine to have a stained glass window, but they’re waaay too expensive. I’ve been looking around for other alternatives, but they always look a little too arts and crafty for me. This looks amazing! Very neat and professional and now I’m dying to try it.
Thank you so much! I baked them at 375 for about 15-20 minutes, checking to see when the plastic melted down. (I can’t believe I didn’t say that in the video! I’ve learned a lot in the past two years 😝)
I just ordered some gallery glass paints and can’t wait for them to arrive. I am not at all artistic, I can’t even draw a decent stick figure. I have been looking for coral reef patterns but haven’t found any ones I like and I need something big for the huge windows in my master bath. Seeing the sun catcher gave me the idea to maybe get some of those…I still need to look at some…make them then put them under the glass and use several different ones as a pattern. I’m going to use some old picture frame glass to practice with. Thank you for the inspiration. If you haven’t already look at videos of the gallery glass, once it is dried…YOU CAN PEEL IT OFF and it is sticky and you can do so many things with it, you can make a design on a piece of glass, let it dry for several days and peel, it off and stick it to a window, a vase, pretty much anything, you can make seasonal designs and take them down and store them in ziplock type bags. If you make a mistake or don’t like the way part of it turned out you can use a razor blade and cut out. The first video I saw about it was from plaid crafts, it’s an hour and a half long video but so informative and inspiring and gave me the confidence to try it and you’ve reinforced it. I am subscribing for more inspiration to be crafty. .
I am so happy to have found your videos! You just exude uniqueness and a humor that makes me feel so happy. I am excited to join the squad and watch you grow! I really enjoyed the stained glass history tidbit there 🤩
Howdy mister Larrie! This is super helpful lol, also i highly appreciate ur British accent imitation of antique roadshow :3 i just decided to make this comment cus i want u to know how much I've appreciated finding u and just how amazing u are, from telling me facts and history of the art form to just being supportive and understanding of everyone's stuff, honestly u made me smile ear to ear and made me feel like i was understood, i wish more people could find u but I'm glad that for now i can be a part of ur subscribers, ps. As a neurodivergent queer person, these videos are so fantastic and vibey, just so relaxed and sweet and it just feels like you're in front of me talking right to me - Moss
How do you think this would do if working on glass that is vertical? I want to do a few small panes of an interior door. Is the paint thick enough to stay put and not run down and puddle at the bottom of the pane? Worst case, I would have to take the door off and lay it down flat on sawhorses in the middle of the living room! I'm thinking of borrowing your craftsman design, my house is a hundred y. o. bungalow. Thanks for a great vid.
Thanks for creating the video. I love it that you guys get our Antiques Roadshow. :o) The window is lovely. I'm thinking of using this process for a project outdoors. Do you know how weatherproof the glass paint and 'lead' are please? Thanks again.
Im actually looking into this right now, as I'm planning a second part to this video! I will let you know what I discover as soon as I can. And UK Antiques Roadshow is SUPERIOR!! And required viewing if you ask me :-P
It looks really great actually - there is no bleeding or anything happening on mine. The back side shows the lines as blacker and more glossy-looking (against the glass) which could be desirable, but I prefer the softer, grayer look of the front!
I randomly came across you channel and how lucky am i!!!!! This is beautiful. You are lovely and so much fun! I own a daycare so we are always looking for new and creative art. Keep up the great work!!! #NewFan
I saw an exchange between you and Jasika Nicole on Twitter and I thought I'd check out your channel and I'm so glad I did. This was such a delight to watch and you explained everything from the process to history that I definitely feel like I've gained something from watching this video. I would love to make my own. If I do, I'll definitely use this as a guide. Can't wait to see more videos. Shan x
@@MisterLarrie You're welcome! Glad I could give you some joy. Do you knit by the way? I'm a crafter, with a primary focus on knitting and trying to figure out how to share that passion online.
@@MisterLarrie Sorry, it's taken me so long to respond. You could try loom knitting. It's not the same but it's super easy to pick up and once you get the hang of it you can make a hat in a hour or two. For knitting knitting, I'd suggest learning to knit with chunky wool and thick needles, so that you can really see what you're doing and learn the techniques.
That’s a really good question! The water-based paints may be a problem if you get them wet, so I would be cautious. The new version of this video uses an oil-based paint and that should be pretty safe for cleaning and resisting (some) weather. So far so good!
Hi Mister Larrie, new subscriber. Are the painted parts see through at night? I need to make the window in my shower not see through. There is a curtain in my shower! Eww. I want to do something that lets light in but not peeping toms.
I am not sure how well the paint will work if you have to apply it directly to the window (vertically), but it definitely gives a blurry, translucent effect once it cures!
I believe you can simply scrape it off with a blade! It’s possible that it could actually (lightly) stain some glass if it’s been on long enough, but it should come off with little effort. Let me know if you try it out!
Hi Mr Larrie! I just LOVE YOU!! I have a challenge for you. I make wearable fairy wings using sheets of PETG plastic. How can I add color to the plastic? Just in places, not the entire wing. Everything I've tried leaves brush marks, ink just blotches and I'm stuck! I just want light, transparent color. Help??? Please????
I’m not entirely sure, to be honest! This “lead” feels like window cling rubber to me. I’ll check it tomorrow morning and see what it feels like after almost a year!
