I’ve seen this incredible band 11 times between 1977 and now. It’ll be an even dozen this June when they start their 50th anniversary tour here in Pittsburgh.
Cheyenne Anthem...they were the natives that roamed the plains...beautiful song..I used to be a full time singer and we did a lot of Kansas songs..and very late at night on our tour bus..I often sang these words to myself in my mind.."you have come to move me. Take me from my ancient home. Land of my father's I can't leave you now..we will share it with you. No man owns this earth were on. Niw the wheels are rolling. Here the howling winds if war. It's my destiny to fight and die...but is there no solution? Can we find no other way? Lord, let me stay...
Kansas is not just Steve Walsh, true. But you have to love that voice and the feelings he puts in his music. He may not have the voice strength he did but he still sings rings around a lot of others....
Steve was 150% that night. I was there and thought so at the time but this show proves it. This is probably his best recording for audio and video since 1980 AV Tour.
Steve Walsh...in his prime, he was absolutely peerless !!! An Icon, what a gift that we are fortunate to experience his greatness. The Michael Jordan of music ! Treasure this my friends for Steve Walsh and Kansas, are once in a lifetime ! I am thankful they are in mine. The music and lyrics will never be matched nor should they be. They too, shall one day be gone. To Kansas, the Band....my many thanks !
I'm a Kansas fan from way back. It's hard to imagine any other incarnation of Kansas then the original. However, this was a gorgeous version of that song.
This one will be recorded on my piano very soon as I've been inspired every since I watched this video. I am finishing the writing now and cannot get it out of my head until I play it out :-)
Wow, that was a tasteful rendition, brought tears to my eyes. The orchestra wasn't overblown (see "Time and a Word"-early Yes LP) and they played with great restraint and dynamics. Loved the people in the crowd getting into it w/ air drums, etc....good stuff. Very poignant.....
My older brother turned me onto Kansas back in the 70's. What a band, no other band can match the lyrics and the sound. I was great in the 70's to have bands like this. Those were the days, we had such great music with feeling to always remember and belt out those lyrics when your favorite Kansas song comes on
I totally agree man, cause Robbie sang the 1st verse and the final verse with such pain and heartache!!! I felt sorry for the Indians in that day and time!! this song is beautiful no doubt!!!
Been a long time since i heard thus song one of my favorites i heard this song live at live at the whiskey tour in glendale az at Ghramcentral station a small country bar with live entertainment my dad took me for my birthday i also got at the door free tickets to see Foghat the following week but kansas was the best show there
It really bothers me hkw people compare Steve to his youth from modern with his voice the voice is not what makes Kansas and John Elefante prove that with his amazing voice and even though people trashed him the music still sounded great the compositions and the music are what Kansas is really all about not the front man or voice but the band as a whole just playing their tunes my favorite parts of the songs are the instrumentals and they perform those parts amazingly I saw them in October and even though Steve's voice isn't what it used to be it's still amazing and better then most and the music sounded great and they played amazingly
Oh this song is in my mind always and I love the original version with Sir Walsh rapping it up in the end with the well known crescendo. Have to hear it on the original.
I believe that if this were a 45 rpm I would have either wore the record down to ash or kept having to replace the needle and the player. I love the words to this. I know It would have been one my brother would have cherished too. He is in the Heavens.
I agree 100% . I have always known that Steve Walsh was a Metis..you can see it in his face, you can see it in his costumes and jewelry..and you can hear it in his lyrics!
I believe that Steve Walsh and Brad Delp of Boston, were the two best vocalists to ever sing in public. They were legendary and their vocals are immortal. Yet, still no Rock and Roll Hall of Fame--WTF?
this band in the begining, was pure energy-PURE- they are innovators, ROCK OPERA- AT IT'S BEST-THEY WILL BE LISTENING TO THEIR MUSIC 200 YEARS FROM NOW, IF WE DON'T BLOW OURSELVES UP LOL-Kansas did it their way -didn't copy anyone, they were just on another plane--- money will do more to ya then for ya-- STEVE PROVED THAT-god i wish he had of taken care of his voice LIKE PAUL RODGERS did,at one time he was better than all of them except LOU GRAMM
My Favorite KANSAS songs were NOT on the Radio. This one Song for America Lamplight Symphony The Wall Stay out of Trouble Down the Road Death of Mother Nature suite On & on & on
This is unbelievably great! When was this performance? They were truly about the music first and I agree there will never be another band that puts together lyrics that mean something along with such talented musicians. Just saw them last week and Steve's voice was just not the same.
I saw them at 1 block west [KC] I new then they were great thats why no body covers them to hard thers no payoff buy car no a beer no space travel only $250,000.00 yes lets go only 7200 payments sign here Or just drink just sayin
Musically speaking they've still got it going on. Unfortunately, Steve Walsh's voice just isn't what it used to be. Billy Greer is a surprisingly good vocalist.
I read Walsh was adopted - I guarantee he's 100% indian - that's where the strong Indian theme came from in their records, and I guarantee you the voice and passion came from the native american blood in his veins.
Yeah, Billy can sing for real!!! He's got a terrific voice and he's an amazing player...truly an asset to an already incredible band. And I must agree with my brother down below...the native indians truly got a suck-ass deal because white man hasn't yet learned to live in harmony with nature instead of trying to adapt it to suit us
Amazing players. I am so happy that I grew up when I did. Kids today have no idea what they missed.
My son knows what he missed. I saw him jamming to wayward son one day. He’s 27. He knows great music
I’ve seen this incredible band 11 times between 1977 and now. It’ll be an even dozen this June when they start their 50th anniversary tour here in Pittsburgh.
Kids today do not know what REAL music is, Sigh
NOBODY could sing those words with such meaning and deep..deep feeling as Steve Walsh!
Just habit forming!!!
my thoughts exactly
Cheyenne Anthem...they were the natives that roamed the plains...beautiful song..I used to be a full time singer and we did a lot of Kansas songs..and very late at night on our tour bus..I often sang these words to myself in my mind.."you have come to move me. @Blake Q this a beautiful song. Makes me miss New Mexico. Pueblo people are the history of my family. my brother and i
@The Alabama Savant Steve's voice is beautifully passionate. This song makes me tear up.

I have always loved Kansas and this is one of my top favorite songs by them. Classical progressive rock at it's finest :-)
This one will be recorded on my piano very soon as I've been inspired every since I watched this video. I am finishing the writing now and cannot get it out of my head until I play it out :-)

I bought the first Kansas album after seeing an ad in rolling stone. The rest is history. One of the greatest most unique sounds EVER.
I totally agree man, cause Robbie sang the 1st verse and the final verse with such pain and heartache!!! I felt sorry for the Indians in that day and time!! this song is beautiful no doubt!!!
there hasn't been a band as prolific as KANSAS.....Thank you for the flashbacks!
this song has always given me goosebumps....from the time i was a teenager 35 yrs now!!
Me too 😊
A classic! God bless Kansas!!!!
Kansas is an unbelievably great band!
I will always have a special place in my heart for Robby, but Rags nails it here!
Been a long time since i heard thus song one of my favorites i heard this song live at live at the whiskey tour in glendale az at Ghramcentral station a small country bar with live entertainment my dad took me for my birthday i also got at the door free tickets to see Foghat the following week but kansas was the best show there
Jenny Stryker. Totally agree. Steve is fabulous....the guys are great. One HELL of a room of talent.
Billy Greer was the vocalist/guitarist who sang the opening and closing lyrics.
I shed a tear now when I think of Steve Walsh. What a great human being, and musician. I wish those pipes had lasted forever!

I've enjoyed this awesome band for 49 years, I started listening to them when I was 15...

...damn, I'm old.
Super..my favorite band...Kevin..Pittsburgh,Pa
All I can say is, can you pass me that extra special vibe that takes this great song the next level...to EPIC!!!
I can remember these great songs from the time i was 18 in 1974 nothing against 2012 music but it will never compare !!
Seen them at Allen Field House KU. Lover boy opened for them. I was a freshman at Haskell Indian Jr. College at the time. Late 70's
No man owns this land!!! I will share it with you.
LOVE OH MITAKUYE OYASIN
For all of my Relations

What a powerful song and version.
+TheWolverineman16 The new guy Ronnie Platt is great. Elefante was good too, but I can't stand 'play the game tonight'.
God Bless You Steve Walsh. All of the band. So talented!!!!!
Great singing Billy, proud to say we shared the same Hometown growing up.
What a fantastic band ,..great memories!! :)

The more I play this the more I love it. My brother, Bless him, would have loved this song.
Rand McKay. Right on! People need to just enjoy and let Steve alone.
I'd forgotten how much I loved this song.thx to poster
Man Rich Williams lost a LOT of weight! I wouldn't have known it was him without the eyepatch. Such a great guitarist.
Billy took over 2nd vocal duties from Robbie Steinhardt, their former violinist. I think Billy did a great job.
Simply a magical performance!
Oh this song is in my mind always and I love the original version with Sir Walsh rapping it up in the end with the well known crescendo. Have to hear it on the original.
Thank you Steve we miss you in north east Wisconsin
Именно Канзас сформировал мой муз вкус. Браво Канзас. Вы подарили мне много позитива. Навсегда в моём сердце.
How wonderful! I wish I could have been there!!
I love this song so much.
I believe that if this were a 45 rpm I would have either wore the record down to ash or kept having to replace the needle and the player. I love the words to this. I know It would have been one my brother would have cherished too. He is in the Heavens.
This from the age of music only a few of us had the privilege to live in.

Заболел я этой песней. Их песни, тех 70 годов - любимые стали.... Очень хорошие музыканты. Отдача полная... Спасибо Им! И всем !
I agree 100% . I have always known that Steve Walsh was a Metis..you can see it in his face, you can see it in his costumes and jewelry..and you can hear it in his lyrics!
another superb song, by any measure. Very sad to this day
Wow they really nailed it
Stunning, Beyond Great.
Beautiful Song "kansas".
I wonder why Cheyenne Anthem did not make it on the album of There’s Know Place Like Home? This rendition is so fantastic!
The most dinámic and great voice of rock is gone long live Steve Walsh and kansas the answer to the mighty east

I believe that Steve Walsh and Brad Delp of Boston, were the two best vocalists to ever sing in public. They were legendary and their vocals are immortal. Yet, still no Rock and Roll Hall of Fame--WTF?

Meraviglioso !
Why not Billy as the 1st vocal nowdays? I think he's a great vocalist
This was a great rendition. Billy does a great job with the vocal but it's just not the same without Robby. :(
Ummm what year? This is seriously their best song ever by far
Great job by Ronnie, but Steve Walsh will always be my favorite! Listen to hia vocal on "the other side"
Musically speaking they've still got it going on. Unfortunately, Steve Walsh's voice just isn't what it used to be. Billy Greer is a surprisingly good vocalist.
I live in East Tennessee..Billy Greer is a home town favorite..seen him for years in local nightclubs!
Who was the vocalist/guitarist who sang the opening and closing lyrics here? Great job by both him and Steve!
Billy Greer. Steve Walsh brought him from Streets into Kansas around 1986.
Kansas das beste klasę progresiw rock . Legenda 👍 .
I read Walsh was adopted - I guarantee he's 100% indian - that's where the strong Indian theme came from in their records, and I guarantee you the voice and passion came from the native american blood in his veins.
He was born in Missouri, adopted, and raised in Kansas by his adoptive parents.
You can see the Native American in Steve...what tribe. Does anyone know!? I am from New Mexico. The Acoma people and damn proud of it
@@lindagusch2671 how do you know this? Just curious. Would be good to see Kansas in person. I am in Bentley, Ks. Never saw Kansas. Damnit
