I remember seeing these guys play (twice) at Memorial Hall in Salina, KS in '74. Ticket price per concert was $5! I was blown away both times and Kansas was a big influence on me eventually starting up my own bands. One of my bands played a club in Topeka, KS (original home of Kansas) in the mid-80's and who walks in to check out live bar-band music but Rich Williams, Dave Hope and Phil Ehart. We spoke with all 3 during our set break and all of the Kansas band members were very gracious, down to earth and offered encouragement to my band. Not only was I blown away by their musicianship but their humbleness as people.

Their version of this on Two for the Show has no equal. That album is one of the greatest live records in music history. I had the original release from the time it came out because I had just seen them 6 weeks earlier. It's good, but the 2 cd deluxe version is f*cking mind blowing.

These guys were one of the best ever. Got to see them in MSG early 80's and as others have written, they leave nothing in the studio. The talent of each member is outstanding. Steve Walsh become my all time lead singer for any band. At the MSG concert he used a huge church style organ 'leaning' with a microphone handing from above and stood/dance in his adidas wear all night. Will never forget.

Listened to their albums in HS in the 70s, but didn't see Kansas live for the first time until 81. UNBELIEVABLE! Better live than on vinyl. Superb musicians. And for all of their big hits like "Point of Know Return" and "Dust in the Wind", its their songs that never made the radio that I find the most enjoyable. Have managed to see them live 7 times in different incarnations, and have never been disappointed.

Tis no bs!! I saw these guys at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in '74. It was my first concert and was all of 13 and blown away. ZZ Top was the headliner, and those guys were just hitting their stride promoting their third album, Tres Hombres. They did some cuts off Fandango too!! Kansas was the fill-in for Brownsville Station. Who refused to come back after the first scheduled concert was cancelled due to poor weather. To be honest, I never cared for "Smoking in the Boys room." So, it didn't bother me that they were not coming back. But when I heard that Kansas was playing. Let's just say that I've owned the first album in some reiteration since. Dust in the Wind and Carry On, although great songs in their own right, are not evident AT ALL on that album!! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

What a disappointment these versions are. Ghosts is far too fast, the phrasing is all wrong and doesn't capture any of the emotion the album track does and Steves solo sounds improvised unlike the stunning album version. Slamming out the chorus only to Rainmaker also is a missed opportunity where the incredible instrumental middle section could have been so much more of a magical live moment. These two tracks deserved so much more live than a rushed medley where they made it sound like a good way to kill 5 minutes then move on.

I know Carry On and Dust in the Wind are the big hits and everything, and of course people will have their own favorites etc.. But lets get honestly real here... This is their greatest achievement as a song. Those last 70 or so seconds... Phew that outro! Holy fucking shit it always knocks my socks off
