Someone gave you very bad advice there. A sign itself is enough to deter a criminal. When a criminal sees you have a sign out more than likely they move onto the next house. And you can't really "bypass" an alarm like that. Most alarm panels today have a sensor if you try to mess with it like take it off the wall or unplug it. Or enter in the code wrong to many times. It will activate the alarm. Truth be told a sign itself has alot of weight for criminals to go to the next house.
If you are really worried set it up with no delay when you enter, you will just have to go into the app before you enter your home and disarm it. That way if any sensor is triggered it will set the alarm immediately. Even if someone unplugged the device most likely they will think it’s turned off and an alarm will go off.
Any advice on the outdoor camera battery life? I have to recharge it every few weeks. Not really sustainable. For this reason, I would not recommend these cameras be installed in a location you can't frequently and easily reach to recharge.
The problem with the app is if someone steals your phone and gets in it they can control your system. The app does not require any credentials in order for you to enter it.
Unsure if I should continue to go with my nest security system even though it's discontinued or if I should look into something like frontpoint or blue by adt 🤔
Only issue I foresee is the sales calls. Meaning ADT is an aggressive sales op with commission based sales people. Knowing what I know about commission based phone sales (which is quite a bit)..... you're just opening the flood gate for sales calls for "upgrades" etc if you buy this "DIY" kit. In a way it's a smart "soft sell" too hook you.... because I promise there's going too be a catch, and I promise you're going too be on the phone with a sales rep at some point.
I had ADT SmartThings and an account with ADT. No sales call. As long as you're forking out money to them monthly they leave you alone. ADT is only doing this because of Ring and SimpliSafe and they lost revenue to DIY companies. No catch.
Protection 1 a much better company now owns ADT hope they can fix the many issues with ADT so far over 3 years.....NO. Been with P-1 Now ADT 18 YEARS. Want state of the art? Deep Sentinel, prevents Crimes & Damage before it happens not after.

Similar - worst setup experience. However, they somehow linked my account with a totally different person and set them as the primary... just sad
