    Had ADT installed this past weekend. The guy only put in half of what I was supposed get. Didn’t explain anything. Called customer service and they were very accommodating and apologetic. He came back a few days later and now I feel secure and so far so,good! I live in a bad neighborhood so it is worth it to me as a single 64 year old woman.

    I have had adt for 20 years. I had the basic first and then upgraded to a smart home. If I have a problem they come an fix it. I enjoy their products. They have alerted me at work and when I’m out of the country. They send the police or fire department if needed. I can even keep tabs on my home with my phone . I feel very secure with them.

      I am glad to hear that. Although my husband and I have paid our bills ahead of time for five years, we cannot for the life of me, get a technician to help us even when the system itself is sending out a "need service message." Great tech,
      huh. I so wish I could pull it from my house and go with something else, however, it is deeply embedded and would cost thousands.

    Five year customer with ADT. When our system sends a "needs service" to my husband's phone, we can't get them to send a technician to our house without a massive effort, multiple phone calls and emails. A real joy. Of course, they could have set up their system
    so that it sent a "needs service" message to ADT as well as to the customer. So wish I could tear this system out of the house.

    I like Ring because it works fine for us with no monthly fees. It does not matter if we are 3000 miles away from home. If the water heater leaks, I know immediately. If the smoke detector goes off, I know immediately. If a contact sensor is triggered, I know immediately. If the room temperature drops below 40F, I know immediately. All this with no monthly fees , no contract.

    I have an aging parent living with me who doesn't have the best hearing. My current alarm system ( simply safe ) is installed, but I have yet to activate it for monitoring because my father can't hear the tone when he opens a door in the morning to let his dog out, ( especially at 4 am ) - This got me thinking, if any alarm systems offer a strobe light option that could flash when you normally hear the countdown beep so those with hearing issues could quickly input the code and avoid setting of the alarm and waking the neighborhood? Any options for this? I find it quite frustrating that this isn't more common as a accessory item with every security system. Elderly tend to have hearing issues, and that little beep can't be heard by many I would think.

      @goirishgo Thanks for the feedback! We think it's frustrating too. While tying our security systems to phones can be convenient, it can be a problem for older users like your father. We've only scraped the surface of strobes, but you can find a couple of our suggestions on our Best CO Detectors page (www.safewise.com/resources/carbon-monoxide-detectors-guide/ - below the reviews) and our Best Smoke Detectors page (www.safewise.com/resources/smoke-alarm-buyers-guide/ - also below the reviews). ADT comes with a quality service plan which means you don’t have to pay for service calls and nothing extra to replace broken/malfunctioning equipment. They have a theft protection guarantee which means if someone breaks in while your alarm is activated, they write a check for $500 for your deductible. They have a 6 month money back guarantee which means if they have to go out there three times for faulty equipment, you get your money back and part ways with them.
    Remember, they have authorized dealers. That means the authorized dealer sets their own pricing. With corporate, you won’t have the “$99” installation fee. Corporate has zero down/zero interest. You won’t pay anything upfront.
    And best of all, they are rated A+ on the BBB. They’ve been around this long for a reason.

    • @Nursea_bosslady
      @Nursea_bosslady 2 года назад

      This comment is not true. I installed ADT in my home. It broke down within 3months. I only noticed after 1week that the camera wasn’t working. I called for repair and they were charging me extra 56$ to display a technician. This people are scams. Only for the money.

    • @dylandl6406
      @dylandl6406 2 года назад +1

      @@Nursea_bosslady it could be that you’re dealing with the authorized dealer. They have their own company. All they do is use ADTs monitoring centers. So for example, company “Strong Security” will use ADTs logo because they paid to be a dealer. However, “strong security” sets their own prices and service.
      They are very tricky. Again, you need to check if it was an authorized dealer you went through.

      Yes, Ring. Before That I had Iris by Lowes that I went from ADT! ADT could even come close to the features Iris offered at 7.99 a month with cellular backup. The plug got pulled with Iris and used Smartthings for a short time before I realized it is NOT a security system. It's GREAT at home automation and still have it but after doing MUCH homework I chose Ring. Ring first and foremost is a security system and works well. They have since added many products for lighting and their camera storage plans are unmatched for MANY cameras for the $10 a month or $100 a year with NO CONTRACTS. I would rate Simplisafe 2nd BUT, when you start adding cameras the monthly price goes up and offers no better protection/response times. The bottom line is what you get per month. ADT is just out in left field and the additional camera storage fees other companies charge is just not worth paying $30+ a month vs. me at less than $10 cuz I payed $100 up front for the year with NO CONTRACTS limitless cameras (I only have 5) and cellular backup which is an absolute MUST for ANY security system! I will say Ring cameras are expensive but considering what they do to me it's worth the upfront costs for peace-of-mind. Is Ring perfect? No it's not but neither is any other system in this market. For me I REFUSE to pay over $660 (Or more) dollars a year for the same service (if not better) for $100 a year!

      ADT is a total RIP OFF! Do some research online and there are MANY systems out there that do the same job for WAY less a month! Everyone is different and prefers different things but, in today's world there are a TON of OTHER options out there for MUCH less money a month that offer the same or better features! A 5second faster response time does NOT warrant the outrageous prices they charge! PLUS, with some systems you have to schedule a person to come out and ADD components to your system at of course additional fees (ADT)! Think about it? If the police take over 5mins to respond in your area why should you pay double or more that other systems offer the same thing for WAY less to do the same thing? Hey! If you just want to throw money away so you don't have to use your brain than I guess that's good for you! But most of us in the the 'real world' live on a budget and do not want to needlessly spend money that you don't need to!

      What systems out there do the exact same job and possibly offer better features according to you? I really hope you don’t come back and respond with any DIY systems either lol
      Of course everyone has a budget to live with but if someone doesn’t think they can afford on average $45 a month to protect their home & family when typically everyone pays more for their wifi, cable, streaming subscriptions, etc then there’s something else that’s the actual issue & it’s not the monitoring rate being “expensive.” People tend to just make other things a priority instead of using their money the smart way. Just because a company puts the word “security” on their brand name, doesn’t make them the same as any other system. I will commend them though, smart way to make money off of a lot of people

    ADT is fantastic-at charging you for service they don’t provide for you. My business went months with no communication between ADT and our management. By that I mean alarms would go off and managers would get the notifications thru pulse, but ADT monitoring had no clue an alarm had even sounded. When we ask them why they didn’t know what was happening with our system they sent techs out. This happened multiple times disrupting our workdays and they never fixed the problem. So we were charged for relatively expensive monitoring that they didn’t even provide for us. Good riddance. There are way better, and way cheaper options available. Beware ADT.

      I’m an ADT user for years. What I learned early on is I AM responsible for testing my system MONTHLY. If I have a storm in my area, if my internet provider is down, ADT MAY get a notice that I am experiencing a failure to communicate. ( I had FC on my keypad) this could happen if my battery is low as well, (BAT will be on keypad). Every contract I’ve signed states this. So while ADT had “no clue”, it’s my responsibility to test my system monthly by call ADT and sending test signal to them. It’s inconvenient but it guarantees me my keypad and windows, doors, smoke, carbon detectors are working to notify my family of issues). Who would not do this monthly? And sign up for the phone app to notify you. It tells you if the sensors are offline you. Storms, extreme heat cause this as well --says the ADT customer who’s been one for decades.

      WORSE yet ADT could not even tell me what sensor tripped the alarm that was going off! Are you f$%king kidding me?? At that time (several years ago) I was paying $45 a month with 5year old equipment! Needless to say when my bend-you-over contract was up I DUMPED them like a bad CRACK habit! With ALL the other options out there I can't BELIVE anyone would want this setup at the PRICES they charge for what LITTLE service you actually get!!!

    Great vids. I love your review vids. That is the problem why we didnt get ADT. We bought a new home and looking for a security system. but ADT was so old fashion. The car salesman attitude is a no for me and my mom. Tell me how much for the equipment, not saying you get 1800 in stuff. And that 3 year contract. Pay the 99 upfront person will come tell you what you need at no obligation. Yeah sure...he will probally say your areas has been hit be buglers recently. I think this is why DYI is becoming more popular. People want to know how much and for what. They dont want to feel pressured by car salesman

      Do you really need 'White House" security for your home? Really? What secrets are you guarding to command the prices they charge? Keep watching CNN! They tell you everything they want you to hear. And get the EXPERIMENTAL 'JAB' as well and get your free doughnut or whatever else they try to bribe people with. A alarm is simple - did someone open a door, a sensor get tripped? Hey! go ahead and spend 2 to 3 times more each month for your false sense of security and enjoy!

      I don't watch MSM either but if you actually read into other other companies you too will find that ADT is ripping you off! Keep paying your 2year service contracts then! Try cancelling! Then you will see what I mean! How much extra do you pay for each camera a month? Or do you have any? Try adding some cameras and see what your monthly payment increases too! If you want to pay $50 or WAY more a month cuz you think ADT has your back then that great for you but you could be saving ALOT of money a year. That's all I'm saying! if you have money falling out of your A$$ then pay through the nose if you feel 'safe' but you don't need too!

    I’m in a security industry and I highly recommend you stay from a DIY system. The reason is because it’s wireless and you have no back up battery system. When you’re not connected directly to the hardwiring of the house with an SEM module, All the burglar has to do is cut your power and it turns off the alarm system. Or they can just break into the house and rip your panel off the wall. What if you have to evacuate because of a hurricane or tornado? Your house is going to be completely insecure because you don’t have any power. DIY systems are not secure! Stay away from them!

    • @asksafewise
