We ended up exchanging this model for the slimmer version ruclips.net/user/postUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU because it was too wide for the only door trim area that made sense to mount it on. However, we should have just noted the dimensions prior to purchasing. Otherwise, we love the doorbell. It works perfectly, and the video is very clear, even at night.
My biggest issue with ADT is the three year contract and monthly pricing. I have experienced other security companies at businesses and they beat the price of ADT time and time again. I have not found anything that makes ADT stand out from all the rest to justify their higher monitoring rate. If you take their monthly rate x 36 it is quite expensive. Technology is constantly changing and three years is a long commitment.
in places like vegas with a no response policy, ADT the the only company that responds with armed guards and with no false alarm fees. every other company charges $60-$100 per false alarm response

Adt is okay if you wanna overpay for stuff. Their monthly is between $35-$70 for residential. They charge you an arm and a leg for cameras AND an extra $5-$15 per month. Their customer service is trash and you don't always get a good technician. My first day as an installer at adt was a shitshow. I had very little training and oh it showed. I tried to play it off like I knew wtf I was doing but I had no clue. Once I got more experience, I had to go fix a lot of jobs that were done by guys who also had very little experience. They give their techs so much work that most techs don't give a shit about how good your job is done, they just wanna finish so they can get home at a reasonable time. The only thing I would ever use adt for is an alarm system and only if I lived in a town without any better options. If you're in a city, there's always better options. Response time all depends on the police, not on the alarm company.
One thing you failed to mention is that it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get out of your ADT contract once completed. It automatically rolls over for 3 more years unless you cancel over the phone during a 30 day window at month 36. They dont take written notification and I spent almost 2 hours on the phone getting passed around from one agent to the next before I finally got a disconnect confirmation. They very much want you to hang up in exasperation before you get through so that you are locked in for 3 more years. It was a freaking nightmare. I will never go back. By the way, the reason I cancelled is because the pulse system only was online about half the time making all the interactive features useless...at $56 per month for flip phone technology.

I received an email this morning stating that starting Feb there is another increase, after taxes and fees it will be over $60 monthly with me owning the equipment and a simple system with pulse option, no cameras, nothing special. I am ordering a simplisafe with many more sensors and devices and installing within a couple months, ADT contract will be over in July. Yep, believe me it took a lot of research and phone calls to find this info haha. My written review of ADT vs. SimpliSafe is even more detailed: bit.ly/2GGzZ5B
Alejandra, as an ADT Authorized Dealer, the pricing really isn't as convoluted as people may at first think. Basically, if you are looking for a base system, you get the command panel, 3 doors covered, plus a glass break and motion detector for 47.99 /mo, with a one time 99 installation fee. If you'd like basic interactivity, (the app, and interactivity features) the same system goes up to 53.99. If you want automation, (think door locks, lighting control, thermostats, flood sensors, co detectors, fire detectors, etc.) then the price goes to 58.99 /mo for one peice of automation, or 63.99 per month up to 128 peices of automation per month. Each base automation package includes one peice of automation free, (usually a camera) then the only thing you pay for beyond that is any additional hardware you may want. The reason for the cancellation fees built into the contract is because we literally GIVE YOU (with approved credit and monthly monitoring) over 850.00 of FREE equipment. Not joking-that is the the ACTUAL RETAIL VALUE. So, when considering SimpliSafe, remember-you are going to pay for each and every one of those sensors, but I can give you alot more for free. If you are interested in a further conversation, please let me know. Thanks again!
Melissa Albarran $70 for an alarm with cameras, locks, etc is a fuckin ripoff... The panel already has all those zwave capabilities and it literally takes two seconds for someone at a desk to turn it on in the adt Pulse or Alarm.com Mobile Tech app. Even $50 is rape
I just got ADT on June 18 2020 so not sure if ADT had the nice wall screen when you made this as I think it's new. It's really nice but not sure if it's worth the money. I would have to try both to really compare. I didn't shop around my wife just always picks the expensive option. It seems to work well. Sales guy was top notch and really did a good job explaining things but if you have a big house the free equipment will only get you so far.
True professional monitoring is always best. ADT is far superior to SimplySafe junk. There are even better than ADT/ProtectionOne/Brinks (all the same company) but always true professional monitiroring.
Hi Michael, Yes, you'll need to buy the Indoor camera with the outdoor kit, which is basically a waterproof sleeve and a 25 foot power cable. It'll protect it in temperatures from -4 to 114 degrees F, so make sure your climate works in that range. More info on SimpliSafe here: bit.ly/2XAi5ro
@@israeld2560 any wireless security system can be hacked by disrupting the wireless frequency, this is nothing new, and the base station will report back to central that there has been a disruption of service which can trigger a security check in call

Btw, the moving policy with ADT is misleading. We got ADT in May 2019 and we are moving to a new house. We called them to tell them that we need to move our security system so here's what they have to say. 1. in order to move all equipment to a new location, we would either need to install new equipment or pay $65 a month and not pay for the equipment fee. 2. It'll be a 3-year new contract. The rep said, the system will have to stay in the house.
ive had ADT for a couple of years. And im on a month to month contract. ADT as of late has been trying to raise my monthly price (first started at 29, then 31, then 34) and recently tried again, but i pushed back. They said that they were raising prices to better their products.. i said screw you. Keep my price. And lately, given the pandemic and lay off's etc, ive been wanting to lower the price. And i was looking into getting simply safe, but the only concern I have is the fact that it is only 9 AM to midnight for the monitoring. And no one ever knows win crime will never occur. And if something happens, I want to know that I can reach out to someone at simplisafe (besides the authorities as well obviously). I want I dont know what to do.
I think when you said their customer service monitoring hours are from 9am to midnight raised the question if they actually monitored your home after midnight. I was concerned also, but I got it now
This is a good video, but there's a few things that are misstated: 1) ADT is not a a DIY system it requires a professional installer however, Blue by ADT is a DIY system Blue by ADT is an authorized dealer of ADT 2)Protection 1 does not have the same phone number as ADT and they also do not have DIY systems Blue by ADT offers renter friendly DIY systems that you can take with however ADT does not have systems you can take with you. 3) with ADT systems you can only use 1 app for your system and that's either the ADT Control or the ADT Pulse but both apps can not be used for the same system at the same time.
The guy in the video is absolutely incorrect. You can self monitor with SimpliSafe. With SimpliSafe you can do a month-to-month professional plan or cancel any time and self monitor. I’ve had SimpliSafe for about 10 years now

$70 for an alarm with cameras, locks, etc is a fuckin ripoff...
Where do I get that t-shirt?
Here's a similar one on Amazon: www.amazon.com/Left-of-Center-T-Shirts-Awareness/dp/B07H7CKDMN
just about to buy simplisafe, wondering about installing cameras outside, any tips on that?
Hi Michael,
Yes, you'll need to buy the Indoor camera with the outdoor kit, which is basically a waterproof sleeve and a 25 foot power cable. It'll protect it in temperatures from -4 to 114 degrees F, so make sure your climate works in that range. More info on SimpliSafe here: bit.ly/2XAi5ro
Please don't get simply safe. It can be hacked with a simple key fob
@@israeld2560 any wireless security system can be hacked by disrupting the wireless frequency, this is nothing new, and the base station will report back to central that there has been a disruption of service which can trigger a security check in call
@@authorityzero31285 Yes.. Knowing this it is best to have a base station or in this case a primary panel with s line encryption..makes its more difficult to hack the system unlike simply safe.
my understanding is that Simplisafe has a no professional monitoring option....
They have a paid option which gets you active monitoring from central station
Yep, they do have professional monitoring available for a monthly fee. More info on my full written review: bit.ly/2XAi5ro
The rep said, the system will have to stay in the house.
this is true. happened with my in-laws, which is a HUGE CON if you want to have a security system that will move with you.
@@johnnythefilmmaker horrible horrible company!!
Which security system do you have
I have Vivint at home: bit.ly/2VGbjP8
@@SecurityDotOrg why did you decide to use vivint?
ive had ADT for a couple of years.
Hi, SimpliSafe's monitoring is 24/7, where are you getting that it's 9 AM until midnight? More info in my full review of SimpliSafe: bit.ly/2XAi5ro
Awesome comparison!
Thanks! Here's the written version: bit.ly/2GGzZ5B
Have you reviewed Cove as yet?
Yep, here's my review: bit.ly/2tTtncU
Can you include in your comparison videos the "smart" abilities to connect say the locks, thermostats etc to the different systems?
Yes, I will try to focus more on that going forward! In the meantime, here's my written review of ADT vs. SimpliSafe: bit.ly/2GGzZ5B
I wish the Simplisafe security system didn't require a monitoring package. I would love the option to self monitor
Simplisafe doesn't require a package I have a system and it did not require a package
The guy in the video is absolutely incorrect. You can self monitor with SimpliSafe. With SimpliSafe you can do a month-to-month professional plan or cancel any time and self monitor. I’ve had SimpliSafe for about 10 years now
That new ADT sign you have is for the new system that runs on the control app not the pulse app. The pulse app was for the older system
Thanks for the update! I will update my written review: bit.ly/2GGzZ5B
Pulse is superior IMO
Is simpli safe’s monitoring any worse than ADTs?
C Miller Have you clicked the Unsubscribe button from those emails? If you returned the equipment and was refunded and you have a receipt for the transaction...what’s your problem?
Actually, SimpliSafe has like 3 self monitoring plans... though you don't get dispatch...but still get alerts, etc
thanks for sharing.
Thanks, but what's with using the word "like"?
Protection 1 is a different system and Not an ADT system they just have a merger of the owners
Thanks for the info!
Works the way it is supposed to. Just Good
Great review! Thanks!
You're welcome! Funny username. Here's the written version of ADT vs. SimpliSafe if you want more info: bit.ly/2GGzZ5B
ADT is awesome. They take safety serious
Simplisafe is the only company that will monitor alarms from there eq.. adt eq.. any monitoring company will take over there eq..why.. A baby monitor can jam simplisafe equipment.. not to mention simplisafe doesn't monitor power failures, low batteries and tampers . Also PLEASE make sure your town doesn't require a permit few for your system (alot do). If they do.. adt would tell you.. and pay it.. if they do require it and it is not paid they will literally hang up on the kid in his basement calling (simplisafe) in the alarm...
That message is at least 2 years old. Currently, as of 96/2022. SS does monitor power failures, since when I unplugged base, I got a power outage notification, and I was told by SS that low batteries are monitored.
@@paulb8188 yup they use c o p a monitoring. That is a joke in Itself
I got ADT I love it
Security alarm systems have been essential to every day life for the past several years due to the safety they provide regarding properties and lives. ADT is a large worldwide cooperation in the security systems sector with which we had the privilege doing business with some years ago, leaving us with the best impression. www.shopalarm.gr/
Thank you :o)
you're welcome!
We went with the Simplisafe security system !!! Overall it was the better choice for us !!!
Nice, Jesse! Let me know what you think of your system. More info on SimpliSafe here: bit.ly/2XAi5ro

Simply safe all the way! I’ve had them for years plus I don’t like being tied down with a contract. That gives me the freedom to do what I want and when I want. Also, my brother-in-law is the vice President for simply safe LOL so I get everything free :-)
Wow, lucky you!! That's an easy choice, then. For anyone else interested, here's my written review of ADT vs. SimpliSafe: bit.ly/2GGzZ5B
Will be nice from the vicepresident to take care of the awful SimplySafe customer service: 1 reps with screaming baby on the background, another one who just hang up, finally a 2hrs on the phone to fix a simple issue. That shows what unreliable this company is😯💀
@@SecurityDotOrg THAT LINK DOES NOT WORK< don't waste your time
@@montecarloc.7974 Yes, unfortunately they do hire people who work form home, buttttt, their response is almost immediate. Try calling ADT, sucks, 30 minute hold time, and I've called SimpliSafe, and never had a discourteous person on the other end. I love my SS, but have to do more research on whether the entry sensors can still be interfered with using a ham transmitter (someone has a video; 3 years ago)
Requesting Lie Detection results please!.
Forgot to mention simplisafe devices falling within the amateur radio signal range making it as easy to bypass as having $2 and an amazon account and no need to have a radio signaling operator license.

Woohoo! And a written review to boot: bit.ly/2GGzZ5B
Wouldn’t touch ADT ever again. Their contract is horrible%
Also there customer service was terrible.
As an ADT technician myself I can say the main advantages we have over neighboring companies weren’t discussed and only spoke on the diy portion and didn’t go into detail on our features . No offense just seems biased
Im simplisafe all the way. Mainly bc of they key fob tag.
Awesome! Here's the written version of ADT vs. SimpliSafe: bit.ly/2GGzZ5B
ADT have a fob too..
ADT service is awful, been with them since the Brinks days. Called in with an equipment issue and they can't come out for 10 days. that is 10 days I am down. Going to change real soon. Awful service.
I own a Rottweiler, but the home insurance still demands having a security system in place 😂 clearly just looking for the cheapest option
You get what you pay for!!
i want securtiy system
ADT has packages for video and zwave and smoke which are all add ons over basic security which can run between 50-60$ per month for top tier for 36 months and its iron clad. They will never let you out of it
Adt is going to be better. They have 16 wireless codes you have to match compaired to 6 with simplisafe.
That's a great technical point. Thanks for sharing!
I have a ADT Security System a day after I had it installed somali compromise my system using penetration tools i actually used to buy books learn how to be a hacker but now I have no interest and none of that i want to waste my money on none of them have been hacking tools has somebody comes near we will some hair controls i'm a dial 911
Had simplisafe it’s garbage waiting on my refund. Front point all the way
I have it now I'm thinking about returning it as well. It works ok I honestly don't trust it. Everything is cheaply made and the base station could be louder. I just don't feel it's worth what they're charging. I paid $200 up front for a very small package and $25 a month for monitoring and alerts. If you don't mind me asking what issues did you have?
APRIL BURNETT I stay in a small town in ms they sent me a unit that work on T mobile I need a Verizon one. And their entry sensor battery had to be reinstall by me it said on apply the battery was low and I had to wipe off battery and install it again, u have to bring hub close to keypad to update it and battery don’t last 24hrs only 4.5 hrs once unplug. Will get refund next week
@@journey2credit84 oh that sucks sound like yours was defective or refurbished maybe. I've only had mines a few days so I'll give it a try a little longer but I'm considering life shield. I'm in Memphis sprint and tmobile sucks here. Simplisafe sent me a email saying make sure your wifi is connected for better service but they're advertising it runs off cellular. I don't like the long wait time either it's like once I paid I can never reach anyone. Good luck though let me know how your new system turns out in case I decide to get a refund.
APRIL BURNETT yes they have long hold times mines was new. If u look at review front point is better and good customer service only bad thing about them they pull credit. And u have to sign a year contract at the least but it’s well worth it unless you want to try ring.

I hear $14.99 a month on the radio ads for SimplySafe
It's $14.99 for professional monitoring and cellular backup, but if you want remote control, notifications, cloud storage and smart platform integrations, you'll need to pay $24.99 a month with the Interactive Plan. Here's my full review of SimpliSafe: bit.ly/2XAi5ro
ADT always raising prices. I no longer needed service after wife retired, someone home 24/7, but my bill was over $60 dollars a month at the end. After I cancelled they offered a $45 dollar deal, that I turned down.
For some reason i was thinking that it was smart to get both
Hmm, redundancy is never a bad thing when it comes to security but it may be a bit unnecessary. More info on each in my written comparison: bit.ly/2GGzZ5B
ADT the worst Try calling them, and you'll have to wait 30 minutes to speak to someone (as of 9/6/2022), and I cancelled my service, and they stuck me with a 30 day waiting period to be cancelled. GOOD BYE ADT

ADT is looking shady, I do like POE vs WIFI
You missed to talk about customer service, how awful simplysafe is, very poor training, rude people who just hang down the phone call, crying babies and noises in the background, not even mentioning over two hours just to answer a simple question. ADT is pricey but you get what you paid for!!
Thanks for the feedback. It helps the entire community.
A security video that doesn't talk about the actual security. How is the response times for monitoring? Who cares about the damn app.
all monitoring companies have to have the same ul standards. reaponse time will bary nases on how long of a dialed delay you have before it calls the cops.
Stop showing protection 1, it's not the exact same as ADT self install, we want to see the actual ADT equipment, not the equipment from a third party

Estafa dicen 2 años y al final estás firmando 3 años
ADT is horrible. I had ADT or about 6 years. About 2 years into my ADT system I changed my cable provider. A few years later I went to cancel my ADT as there are so many cheaper options. This is the horrible part. I found out that my cable company was not compatible wit ADT. So when I changed my cable company, It rendered my ADT useless. I did not know this and they did not tell me either. I was told this when I was canceling my service. For 4 years I paid $45 a month for no service. They refused to reimburse me for the time and money lost. My lawyer is now involved. Stay away from ADT.

I am very angry with ADT service . cheater, ADT IS a big cheater. it is hard to cancel their service. It is hard ,difficult to cancellation, thay are cheater. I have use ADT for more than 5 years and recently I'd like to cancel it, but It always let you stay online , no one respond you ,just ask you wait wait wait. shit! ADT, it is nightmare
This review is not exactly accurate. 99% of ADT customers aren’t getting P1 and aren’t doing a DIY. This isn’t a good review.
