siamese are some of the smartest cats. we fed an outdoor feral seal-point for about 5 years. he even let us pet him occasionally, which was a big step. one of our domestic short-hairs treed itself. we watched while the siamese climbed up the tree and attempted to teach our cat how to climb down the tree. it did not absorb the wisdom. so the siamese climbed up the tree again and tried in earnest to teach him how to climb back down the tree. "crickets". the cat literally looked at us and shrugged and gave up. our cat fell out of the tree the next day and was not harmed.
