The person who played the zombie/posessed girl at the end is Javier Botet! He's done a ton of monster-acting in horror; he's 6'7" and really thin because of a condition called Marfan syndrome. He's been in Rec, It, Mama, Crimson Peak, Conjuring 2, and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. He's definitely an unsung hero of the modern horror genre!

      The spaniard Doug Jones.
On IT, he was the Hobo; on Conjuring 2, he was The Crooked Man; on Mama, he was Mama itself; on Insidious: The Last Key, he was KeyFace...
He even was Slenderman on the 2018 film! (Horrible film, but the fact that he was the most famous creepypasta is still there)

Fun fact: that body dropping on the first floor at the very beginning wasn't a scripted thing, which actors would be able to expect. So they were basically all jumpscared by the film crew, therefore all reactions from the cast in that moment are 100% genuine.

They used a lot of non actors for this film - ex: the reporter is a real reporter, the firemen are real firemen, etc. They also used a lot of improv for scenes, so the people acting never really knew how a scene was going to progress 100%

Same here. It's been a while since I watched it, but IIRC, they did make some changes and they kind of dragged things down. For one, they cut out the religious elements of the ending where the movie hints at what might be the cause but still leaves it (relatively) ambiguous whether it was that or some kind of disease, and instead just outright said it was a type of rabies. For another, they had characters do bizarre things that made it feel more produced like having the cameraman attack one of the infected by hitting it with the lens of the camera, or having him stop and zoom in on a police sniper after being shot at.

American theatres are owned by studios so they tend to replicate foreign language movies to get more sales. Personally I'd be insulted if the theatres in my country implied that I wasn't able to read subtitles - my advice to Americans who like good movies is to find a little arthouse theatre that plays the original foreign films and leave the big capitalist theatre chains to play Marvel movies.

Even though I didn't like the rest of the series as much, I really respect the filmmakers for doing something different in each sequel. It would be so easy to make the same film over and over again, but they took creative chances that made each installment unique. And I feel like each movie builds onto the ones that came before (either with recurring characters, new info, or world building) so the series doesn't feel too disjointed.

The 3rd film kinda answered some of my question after knowing that the dog(Max) was actually infected by a disease not known by the public: Who else got bitten by Max during his rampage at the vet?How many animals where bitten and transformed? After they sedated max what else did they do afterwards? What made it “Bad” is because they are slowly turning it into an Evil Dead-ish kinda action with the main protagonist wielding a “kickass” weapon and mowing down infected but to be fair the main characters fates where……”sealed”,there’s little-to-no One-Liners, and they still have these moments where you actually felt worry about these characters especially a certain man who’s well known for his costume.
The 4th film was ok. Not good, not bad……just……ok
But it’s up to them if they wanted to watch it

The second film is an excellent sequel in that it continues the story (it literally picks up right where the first left off) but also expands on and explains the events of the first. It's a little jarring because it's shown from different viewpoints (there are at least three cameras in play this time) and it skips back and forth in time a bit as the different perspectives line up. But if you only watch the first film, you've really only seen half the story.
The third one is a completely different animal (only loosely connected to the events of the first and second) and the fourth one tries to tie it all together but just ends up making things messier. I like all of them in their own way, but the first two are the real gems.

I watched this together with my family the year it came out, in my final year of primary school (my parents were never too strict with scary movies or anything because I didn't really get scared). I thought it was really good, usually I don't really like zombie movies much, but this was great. I do remember though that my dad was constantly complaining because he's a cameraman and the journalist lady annoyed him a lot because she kept getting "in the way of the shot" and kept saying what the cameraman had to film as if the cameraman didn't get trained exactly to know how to film. It was for the purpose of the audience of course but my dad kept grumbling and rolling his eyes.

Love this movie! The film makers tried to maximise immersion and realism. The actors were mostly unknowns. The on screen TV host was actually a host for a little watched Spanish TV channel. Much of the characters reactions were ad libbed. They had detailed character notes but no access to the complete script. Much of what happened in the quarantined building, including it being closed off to the outside world, was a complete surprise to the cast that they had to repond to in character. When the Septics remade it as "Quarantine" they only hired actors that were already famous from movies or TV. It didn't work at all. Actually, I should probably watch your reaction, in case you've said all this. I'll do that now!

With the possessed girl walking around in the dark, scared the daylights out of him. It freaked him out so much that he had trouble sleeping that night and still jumps when he walks into a dark room and sees me passing through or standing in there doing something. 😂

The actors in the apartment building were cast based on their ability to improvise. None of them were given a completed script, so they had to react naturally. For co-directors, Paco Plaza and Jaume Balaguero, realism was a huge priority.
