Thanks for the advice, this is the 1st time I have so much fish eye spot painting panels, I had 65 % humidity , water in hose and grease on surface, so next time I make sure those things are addressed, your technique helped a lot, plus spraying drop coat criss cross. Charcoal metallic single stage. Will be redoing anyways. Thanks
Thanks for this video. I have a hood that is kicking my butt with fisheyes. I have tried everything and they keep coming back. I tried your method last night and presto... they are gone even after laying another coat of paint on the hood.. hallelujah!!
So simple but genius. Wish I knew that before but I do now. Thanks for the video. I assume it works with clear as well but maybe less aggressive with the air?
100% correct with clear coat fish eyes let the clear flash about 95% and then come back with another 2 lighter coats or simply dust some clear over the problem area (will require more wet sanding )
Boring not at all see sir, a problem solver for a rookie like me. Now I can pull it out of the shop and show my neighbors. Great video, #1 on this subject.. I have a question I wonder what results would I get if I sand the second coat of clear before I do my final finish of clear?
Tutorial much appreciated. Question please, off topic. I'm going to spray single stage white, should I spray the paint as one would spray clear coat or spray it like base coat? I'm referring to the gun speed over the substrate when making my passes. Thanks.
I'm gonna try that, usually when I get fisheyes it's ALL over the panel. I paint in a big shared workspace where they spray wd-40 and a bunch of other BS......so I actually use Eastwood's Fish Eye Eliminator. it's the best out of many ive tried and it's only $20 for a pint and a little goes a long way. It helps level out the paint so I like it. I use it in my clear. Incase anyone out there is in a position like mine lmao
Actually they do still sell it just not listed on the site. They have the smr1150 for 64.99 a kit . And they have the smr117 one full mixable gallon for 49.99 .
Know this is old, but if anyone knows and is here, can I do this with cured clear, after blocking, or do I need to sand the fish eyes completely out? Thanks!
Thanks. I'm a mobile sprayer and suffer a lot of fish eyes in my clear coat. They are especially bad on black cars. I will try this method today and report back. Thanks
Its a miracle i havent had fisheyes yet painting at home 🤞 but now I know how to handle it if I do. I guess before I seen this, I would have sanded it, cleaned it again and sealed it then paint again. Your way might be quicker🤔
I'm going to redo my shelby gt sometime in the future. If I can get it super straight and perfect I'll go back to black. I've got competition orange on my mind though. It's a 2008 with 55k miles and it's a driver, not a garage or trailer queen. What's the name of the place where you order everything, even the base? Any thoughts or suggestions? I'm in WV probably painting in a makeshift booth at 80° heat at least and same with the humidity. Love your work man! I watch every video you put out and even push them to friends and family lol
You basically have to drown and suffocate the fish eye. This is the best video of explaining how to deal with fish eyes in the paint work. Mist- force dry - mist- force dry - mist - wet coat. I believe the number of mist coats is dependant on how bad the fish eye is. Some require more than others.
Thank you for posting this. I had this issue and couldn’t fix it coat after coat, but this fixed for me. Great videos and great work 👍

@@speedokoterefinishnetwork4937 thank you. I'm less scared of clear coat since I got fish eyes spraying it and sanded too much afterwards.
I really enjoy watching your videos
Thanks!
Very nice technique! Thank you!

Could you show how to cut out or get rid of a paint run with the single stage paint
Single stage you really DONT Wana get runs in... Cause when you wet sand your basically taking off the color
Paint killer Mark is amazing.
Thanks !

Spray it like you would be spraying clear coat

Lmao not a bad idea ... Speedokote sells fisheye eliminator Aswell . I might do a video on it
PLEASE DO A VIDEO ON IT!!!!!!
whats the best budget clear coat for a DIY job, speedokote doesnt sell the smr 1150 anymore, so i am looking for another cheap option.

@@speedokoterefinishnetwork4937 oh okay, what clear do you recommend that is beginner friendly or similar to 1150?
Smr1150 is a nice clear

If you don't have a minimum of 4 coats of clear coat down on it then no
@@speedokoterefinishnetwork4937 No, I meant sand them out then re-clear. I think I'll block the panel flat, then mist a dry coat and go from there.
@@kellyappel3015 yes you can do that aswell

Very easy fix
Where you guys located?
cash2kcars@gmail.com if you need something done
Sweet info I hope to avoid these little suckers as long as possible. 😅
I still get them here and there :)
Would this process work on metallic paint? I'm assuming not based on metallic build up.
Yes would work
Does this work with Metallics too? I'm doing a Gunmetal grey and I'm getting some fisheyes
Yes works with all paints. Even works with clear coat to. Just have to wait a little longer in between coats
Hello , what about if the fish eye comes out when throwing clear coat
Let flash 95% then do another coat of clear over fish eyes
This here is like witchcraft voodoo 😳 awesome stuff!!
Lol thanks!
Awesome job ! Cool tip !
Thanks !
You’re a genius bro!
Thanks man!
I always add few sparing drop of fish remover in my clear...
So this will work even after you've let the base coat dry?
Yes . Not longer than a few hours tho
@@speedokoterefinishnetwork4937 great...thank you!
I usually get it after clear coat
Same method with clear coat just don't blast clear With air . Also Gota let clear flash long before additional coats if you get fish eyes
this saved my ass tonight!
I'm glad !

If I sprayed at night like that with the door open, I’d have every bug in the state in my paint. You’re a hood painter.
I try man
