Thanks for taking the time to post this vid on the fish eyes. Good information man. I'm painting my 73 beetle in Porsche racing livery blue and orange with some dark blue color separation stripes. This question involves interclear ( or intermediate clear coat as some call it) . You have touched on the use of interclear in the past. Originally I was going to paint my GULF livery logos on the panels so I sprayed interclear as I went along. I have since discovered it is WAY too much hassle to do the logos so I'm going with decals. Now I have to sand (rough up) all that interclear to spray my Euro Clear. I wet sanded pretty much everything in 400. I was thinking it might be too rough and leave scratches but I see your 400 prep worked fine with the flow coat on the trunk. Again thanks for taking the time to make these vids and put them up. I watch every new release as soon it comes up. I have picked up many good tips from you. I especially like the little pedal car you did. I don't think I'll have an opportunity to work with candies but I enjoy learning from you none the less.
That was cool how you fixed the trunk lid and hood. Was a bit of a revelation to see you fix the trunk after sanding through the colour. I won’t forget that. I gotta do some research on flow coating. There are lotsa auto painters on RUclips but you are my favourite. Cheers my friend
When you get fisheye I've seen people use this method so you don't need to cut as much. Let the clear tack up good then take a touch up brush and dab clear into the craters so they become high spots then cut and buff. You would have less chance to cut through and have a thicker build left over.
@@waltlewis9194 Uh yea. many ways to get a fish eye. Be that as it may the method he above described fukkkkking works GREAT with no danger of burning thru. Just a raised slight bump to cut and buff. Friend thank you for the very informative video... For me the second method is much easier... Flowcoat and finish... Avoid all this sanding and buffing... Anyway... You are a great painter and both hoods have perfect results! Thank you!
Fisheyes come from silicone, oils or diesel fumes. If you get them in your clear use a silicone or fisheye eliminator additive in your clear. Have the same issue now. The clear fisheyes immediately over my base. I believe due to solvent popping. I don’t think they will sand out as I only have two coats of clear on it and the fisheyes may go right down to base. I don’t want to break through if I can help it. If I leave some of the craters, will the flow coats fill them, and then I can cut and buff for the final finish?
