    I have another tip for white beans. You can cream them in a blender and add to a soup to make it a creamy based soup instead of using cream or milk.

    As I was watching you can, I began remembering how it seemed not so long ago your struggles. And how your wrists seemed to be so weak & taking forever to heal.
    Just look at you now. Canning, following God, encouraging us, making us laugh, and sometimes cry.
    All I can think of is that saying, "satan did realize when he tried to bury you that you were a seed".
    And look at you grow!.

    Since we only use pintos for refried beans I always use the full-soak and pre-cook method so they'll come out mushy and easy to turn into refries, haha. You have such a wonderful stove for canning, being able to run two canners on the front. I hope you and your family are all doing well during this storm, it will certainly make for a lot of memories I don't doubt!

    • @TheKneadyHomesteader
      @TheKneadyHomesteader  11 месяцев назад

      thats an awesome way of having the beans worker you instead of you working harder for the beans. LOL Yes....when Matt said pick out a stove.....I specifically looked for several things....one with the controls in the front and not a back panel because I am 5ft tall and burn myself, one with 2 power burners up front to run my canners, I wanted an oven with a bread proofing option as well as a convection oven for even baking of my breads....and I wanted a center burner with a cast iron griddle for making bug breakfasts! LOL this stove is a dream!

    I’ve been watching since your double wide days, and I am still amazed at how consistent you are with how clean and in order you are with canning. I very much enjoy it. I see all these other “new younger canners” who skip lots of steps and I just think back to the way you do it. One of these days(years, lol) and come back to tell you I’ve started canning. How, where do you Vaseline?

    • @TheKneadyHomesteader
      @TheKneadyHomesteader  11 месяцев назад +3

      Wow, thank you! Thats a huge compliment. I appreciate that. I am never here to "teach" anyone, but to inspire them, and if you ever jump in the canning crazy, I will be here to cheer you on as well! I have a video on how I prep my canners. I use a thin layer of vaseline around the edges and bolts of my canner. All Americans do not have a rubber gasket rather they are metal on metal. So without vaseline, your life can mold right into the body and your lid won't come off. LOL not a good problem to have!

    Funny I just finished canning some pinto beans this morning! Opened RUclips and there you were. I cooked some raw with some ham stock, some cooked with beans, onions and seasonings (like a bean and ham soup) and some cooked before I put the ham in the pot. All came out great and I have a winter's worth of beans in various kinds on the shelf. I also cook them in pints. I also pulled out some cooked beans and am going to make some refried beans to add to beef and bean enchiladas that I will share with an older couple for meals they can freeze. A big bean day.

    I'm a new canner and I have to laugh at myself because I get ridiculously excited about canning- especially a BIG batch! Lol!!😂
    I really appreciate watching your process because I DON'T have it down yet, even though it seems so simple and common sense, I'm not naturally organized (at first anyway) and I always seem to forget something and that is frustrating. Your step by step repetitive methods really helps!!
    I know in time it will be automatic and I'll have my own flow that looks easy too❤
    My thrifted AA has some pitting so I saved up and got myself a new one for Christmas but I was too cheap to get the colored one. I'm so happy for you!! You deserve every color in the rainbow!!

      I used to, but I didn't really find the taste that different since I am always adding beans to a seasoned dish, so why waste the money, right? hahaha I just season them when I cook them up!

    Hi Heather first my prayers are: God continue to heal and bless you and your family. Love your videos and your detailed work. My question is where do I purchase those beans in the burlap bags, I love beans and must have them daily in my diet as I don't eat meat but they give me so much gas; where can I get those shipped to me in Canada? Thank you, peace and blessings!

    • @TheKneadyHomesteader
      @TheKneadyHomesteader  11 месяцев назад +1

      I am not sure if you have a local mill but try there. I purchased mine locally and thats how they sell them. Its a grain mill. But they do not ship and have no website to purchase from. Strictly old school farming mill. See if you have one local to you. Farming communities usually have one. ❤️

    Heather, I just watched many of your old canning videos, (you have a lot!) and I'm starting to get the itch to start. In your trusty opinion, which canner would you recommend I start with, as a 66 year old woman that doesn't have ten years to learn! 😂 The electric Presto or the big, pretty green one?( can't think of the name)
    I must say I laughed on the beef bone broth, you brought the jars out and lined them all perfectly with either the Ball label or the pretty label on the back, showing! That is exactly how I would do it, just because it's prettier!

    • @TheKneadyHomesteader
      @TheKneadyHomesteader  11 месяцев назад

      I would ask a few questions first....can you carry a heavy canner? is your stove gas or electric or glass top?how much food do you want to put by in one canning session? all huge factors but I am here to help the best I can!

    • @shirleyvastine9328
      @shirleyvastine9328 11 месяцев назад +1

      To try and answer your questions, I have a gas stove, (hooked to propane if that matters), I'm sure I can lift one like yours. It's only me and my husband, but I like the idea of jams and broth and beans for starters. Things we use a lot. I'm afraid of going too small on a machine that ends up being a waste. I think I saw a 15 1/2 qt. stove top canner. Is that bigger than the electric? I forget. Also, most stores are half an hour away from us, so
      Is there a room temperature average that canned food should be stored in? We do not have a basement.
      Can that electric one do everything the big fancy one can do, just less of it?

    • @TheKneadyHomesteader
      @TheKneadyHomesteader  11 месяцев назад +1

      I can lift my 921. The Green canner ONLY comes in the 921 model. It also comes in other colors. I will leave a link here for you. But hands down, go for that one. The electric one is super nice, but it does not hold nearly the same amount.....the 921 All American you can double stack pint jars and can 16 jars. The electric canner can not double stack. Now....that being said....the electric is lighter, but just as big....and really easy to operate. The All American is easy too, but you are dealing with a flame VS an automatic machine that does everything for you.
      Here are the colored canners: amzn.to/3HdDiiU
      The Electric Presto: amzn.to/3tPr2SL

      Teresa, I am so sorry for the loss of your sweet baby boy. I asked God to transform my heart, make me new, because I was shattered. Broken into a million pieces. And He did that for me. I realized through all of this, that unconditional love and forgiveness are the lessons to be learned....to surrender and accept that my life is just a story.....a story with a purpose to serve the Kingdom..... and those I love will come and go......my grief therapist likened it to a train. We are riding our train of life and at every station, point in our life, people get on our train..... and some get off of our train. They too have their own purpose and destination. I dont know if you have received any grief counseling, but I did for over two years. It helped me so much. Also, building a relationship with the Lord. Not a religion but a personal relationship. I walk in that every day. It is not easy though, but it is not supposed to be. This world is fallen, and the enemy seeks to destroy us at every turn.

    Great video. Can you please explain again the bubbles coming up after you took the jars out? This happens sometimes with my jars.

    • @TheKneadyHomesteader
      @TheKneadyHomesteader  11 месяцев назад

      totally normal just from boiling. If the bubbles are really aggressive, keep the jars in the canner for a little while longer. they change in the air temp going from hot to a cool room can make it bubble more.... you dont want any siphoning to happen that can effect your headspace. but mild bubbles are fine and normal from the air temp change and the fact that they still are in the processing stage until they completely cool and lids are sealed down.
