- Thanks to @storytoob for recommending the Shardlake series. Check out their channel.
Pax was written by podcast co-host Tom Holland of
@restishistorypod where you can find him and Dominic Sandbrook(I need some of Dominic's books so I can talk about him as much as I talk about Tom.)
The Savage Storm by podcast co-host James Holland of
@wehaveways is where you can find him and Al Murray.(I need to pick up a copy of Al's book as well. I promise I'm not partial to the Holland brothers 😂)
This was a fun book haul and I will see you next time!

The Reacher audiobooks are also great. I wanna get the hardcovers too.
Those illustrations are beautiful in the Silmarillion.
I'm really enjoying the narrator for 61 Hours. It is the same narrator as Killing Floor.
Just remembered another cool Reacher for you... Gone Tomorrow.. that was a great one!
Thanks! I will add it to the list.
Quite the mix. A man of culture, I see. Reacher's very hit and miss but when it hits, it hits hard like him, ha.
My tastes have become rather eclectic.
I totally agree. 61 Hours seems like it is going to be a banger. I hope the other one I borrowed from the library is as well.
I have a few of the Everyman's Library books and love them. They are just the right size and a really solid feeling book. I don't sniff, but I like to pick them up and hold them from time to time. Maybe pet them a little. On another note, I bought their Brothers Karamazov because it was a great sized edition and a recent translation. The problem is that the type is very small. I wound up reading it on my Kindle, but still like having the book. Good haul!
"Pet them a little" 😂. I do like having physical books so I can hold them and flip through them.
I will keep an eye out for that edition of Brothers Karamazov.
They have a few Raymond Chandler Everyman's at a book store nearby and I want to pick them up.
If you enjoy the Harlem detective novels by Himes, you should also check out (if you haven't already) The Conjure Man Dies by Rudolph Fisher. It is a really interesting detective novel from 1932 that I think any fan of Himes would enjoy.
Thanks for the recommendation! I will keep an eye out for it.
Bloodlands is great, but if I remember correctly (it's been over 10 years since I read it) it's more about atrocities and genocide against the civilian population than military history. Just so you know.
Thanks for the info!
