It’s a great book. I’ve read that one by Thompson, and The Killer Inside Me. If there’s a problem here, it’s that they’re a little similar…more to do with the narrator’s psychology and morality or lack of it. Plot-wise, thankfully, they are somewhat different. I think The Killer Inside Me has a lot going for it, it’s amazing and the twist near the end is very cool - but I think Pop. 1280 is closer to an outright masterpiece. Or it is one. Estleman The Night Watch, by Thomas Walsh Mr. Bowling Buys a Newspaper, by Donald Henderson The Wasp Factory, by Iain Banks
This guy sounds like one of those people that's fun to read about but that you'd never want to know in real life. I'm in. Guessing the Pop. 1280 refers to population?
Oh, man, Jim Thompson is a trip. The Killer Inside Me, The Grifters, The Getaway.. All great. I haven't read this one, though.
I'm super excited to read more of his books. He is a fantastic writer.
Thompson wrote about 30 novels. He also did two autobiographical books, Bad Boy and Roughneck.
I guess that means I get to enjoy his writing for long time 😎.
Always reliable to review interesting stuff!
Thank you!
This sounds crazy!
It is very crazy. I loved it! 😂

Yes. It is the population of the rural Texas county he is in.
The book is so damn good. You should definitely give it a try.
@@JosephReadsBooks it's already on the TBR! And I like the sound of the MC, so I'll probably get to it fairly soon.
