I can't fit City into this month's reading but hopefully July will work. I know it is a short book but right now my short fiction time is filled up by Poul Anderson(No Truce With Kings) and Rick Raphael(Code Three). They are the last two works that I keed to read to complete my reading of everything nominated for Hugo Award in 1964. A totally arbitrary year where I just happened to read most of the nominees/winners and I want to check the last few off.
I've read Menger's Theodore Sturgeon book. It's been a long time since then, so I can't tell you that I'm all loaded up with clear memories of how brilliant and incisive Menger was - but I do recall enjoying it overall. I think when I read it I had only read More Than Human, Venus Plus X, Some of Your Blood, and The Golden Helix by Sturgeon - so I worried she would discuss other things I had not read, and then would feel either cut off from comments on stuff I had not read, or feel that she might spoil things in a lot of cases. But there is no way I'm going to read a work like Menger's only after reading EVERY SINGLE thing by the author being analyzed - just not gonna happen. Plus, I had read some of Sturgeon's major novels, and some short stories, so I went to Menger not long after finding a sale-priced copy of her Sturgeon study, and I don't recall having fifty things spoiled, or feeling she saved her best insight for stuff I hadn't read. I recall a short but interesting look at Sturgeon. Anyway, good luck with it!
Can't wait to hear what you think of the Steinbeck. I've read most of his stuff, but not that one. Thanks for the video!
I might be reading the Steinbeck sooner than later. There is a good chance I'm getting roped into a Steinbeck reading group.
That Moorcock looks sooooo good.
If I ever complete the collection I will make a video about it.
City is so good, will love to hear your thoughts on it. That Sturgeon set is so awesome, I recently saw a set on eBay a while ago. Love the haul.

Thanks for the info! I'm really looking forward to reading Sturgeon's works and Menger's work on Sturgeon.
