‘Earth Abides’ 1949 is one of my favourite SF books. You’re in for a great read.

Magician is an old school fantasy banger. Hope you enjoy it. Also, your burn on the Heinlein recommendation made me laugh.

Silverlock was a favorite of Gordon Dickson, Poul Anderson and other authors.
A western I can recommend is is the Branch and the Scaffold by Loren D Estleman. Funny, fascinating and oddly enough, really quotable. I put a lot of what I liked about this book into goodreads.

John McDonald's best fantasy book is The Girl, the Gold Watch and Everything.

I recently read Earth Abides and Hombre. Earth Abides took me a while - it was very interesting at first, then drags a little at times, so I found myself taking breaks while I read other things. But, even when I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about it. Overall, I liked it and would recommend it. Hombre was the opposite - starts slow with slowly building tension that becomes palpable. It's a simple story, simply told, but I couldn't put it down once I got going. I loved it and plan on reading more Leonard Westerns.

They both sound intriguing based on what you said. I can't wait to read Hombre next month!

Great Haul. Let me know next time you make a Recycled Trip if you want a shopping buddy!

Definitely! Do you use discord at all?(I use it a lot for book groups and stuff)
I'm not sure when I will be back. I may have to take a break from my regularly scheduled trips to Denton(I usually go every third Tuesday). I'm going on vacation and there is a Recycled Books-lite book store in a town near where I'm going. I need to save money for that 😂.

@@JosephReadsBooks I have a discord account, but I don't think I've ever used it LOL.
Honestly, the best part of vacations are new bookstores. I recently got back from a trip to WA and my bags were almost over the weight limit!

Just read Doomsday Book, it's excellent. Full of graphic descriptions of gruesome death and despair. No character is safe. Still the coziest read of my life. Only negative is that it's slightly too long and could use some editing. The scariest things about this book is that it predicted some real life events very accurately despite being written many years before. I will say no more to avoid spoilers. Just read it.

No wonder the couch potato approves, that's a nice selection of books.
Silverlock in particular was a great find, not many people even know that book's a thing. I didn't have a good time with Doomsday Book to be honest but that's mainly because I'm not much of a fan of the type of story it is - setting that aside it's a fascinating story that I still think about occasionally to this day, I'm sure you'll have a blast with it.
Also, the way your channel's growing right now, by the time you read this it'll probably have happened, so congrats on hitting 1K!

Thanks!(I'm still not at 1k as of writing this but almost)
When I saw that copy of Silverlock I got such a rush. It is one of those book hunting pleasures that keeps me going.
I really want to read it. I just need to finish the poorly paced and somewhat boring Garrett book I'm reading first.

@@JosephReadsBooks A Garrett PI novel that's not working for you? I'm shellshocked, lol. And you're definitely 1K now, so congrats! 😂

The Garrett novel is just okay. There are some great character building for Garrett but the plot is scattered and the pacing is bad.
It will be getting a bad review if the ending isn't a banger.
