Different time, different place, but my, do I love my tuesdays... I mean Nightwish! :-D
Well, let's be honest here. Floor Jansen added a LOT to Nightwish. I mean, it was good without her and it took a while for it to work with her as the vocalist but holy hell is it a perfect fit now.
Floor has a capacity that VERY few have and I know there are fanboys that will disagree and like the others but the truth is.... Floor is awesome all on her own, she can carry anything without it getting boring and truth be told, Nightwish is orchestral hard rock which CAN get boring.
The fact that Floor had only been with Nightwish for 10 months by this point & technically wasn’t official (that was in October 2013), her stage presence at the concert is nothing short of extraordinary. She absolutely nails every song in this set-list
You got it with "This is on another level" and recognising Floor's total control of that 82,000 strong audience!
And remember these are a festival crowd, not (at least initially) all fans of theirs. Yes, Wacken is a metal festival, but that spans quite a broad range - Alice Cooper had immediately preceded them on the other main stage (they alternate stages to keep the music flowing while the band's crew set up). Smaller stages around the site too, but Nightwish, as headliners, had the benefit of exclusivity, with no competing shows. This song was over an hour into their set, the 13th of 15 songs in the 90-minute show.
The backing is recorded by the London Philharmonic Orchestra, London's Metro Voices, and London Young Musicians Childrens' Choir, to Tuomas' score, directed by Pip Williams. Unfortunately, actually touring with that many musicians is impractical from both a logistical and financial perspective, but we all hope that maybe, one day, there will be a special event where they play with a live orchestra and choral backing. Tuomas is seen here (as always) on keyboards. It is not without reason that we call him the Metal Mozart. The keyboard stage dressing is inspired by the monument to Sibelius in Helsinki and is reflected on a smaller scale on the opposite side of the stage by the stand for Troy's whistles (you haven't met him yet). Every song is a different style, but all sound like Nightwish - the variety is outstanding, and live is always best if there is one (nothing yet from their latest album, as it came out last year, but they have created lyric videos for the album so that we can all learn the songs and give ourselves hernias trying to join in at concerts!).
Welcome to the rabbit hole, and look back to Gabriel Bardac's introduction (maybe pin it so it doesn't get buried in the mass) for the best guidance there is.
One exception, as he isn't one for blowing his own trumpet, but for "Song Of Myself" go to the one on Gabriel's own channel. It is a composite of the version sung live from this festival and the poetic part from the album which is not performed live but displayed on the screen behind them, so is missed by the video. Also, read a few of the comments before you start on that, to see a big reason why it is so special to fans.

Glad you enjoyed it! Storytime, Romanticide, and Song of Myself (all live at Wacken) are 3 songs you would appreciate for the vocal cadence. The music is a bit more up-tempo and the vocal melodies are a bit shorter with a faster cadence.
(At least my hip hop head friends tend to be drawn into those songs).

Now you have acquaintance with the Queen of Metal Floor Jansen. The Valkyrie Goddess. Her range goes from that high tone at the end to deep growling. And all this absolutely perfect live. Others can't even do that in the studio.
Nightwish is also a band that draws its power not from aggressiveness, like most metal bands, but from beauty, hope and humanity.

"Bye, Bye, Beautiful" wasn't necessarily a mistake. It's just that many people find "Ghost Love Score" an easier entry into Nightwish. There are many different aspects of Nightwish as you will find. Floor is such a fastastic vocalist in her many different abilities to perform.

You did not anything wrong. "Bye bye beautiful" is the most watched Nightwish video on YT. But the song has a little controversial background and it's rarely played live. But this GLS Wacken 2013 is a Gold Standard of live performances. It's the most reacted music video on YT (over 1K, and i've seen almost all 😵). @@ztamizzen It can be right, although Tuomas's lyrics are often multi-layered. At least "Bye bye beautiful" can be seen quite angry response to Tarja, and i even think that Tuomas regrets it for some, according to the minimal live play.

Our 1.83m Dutch Valkyrie Queen Floor Jansen is the third and present singer of Nightwish and widely considered the best and most versatile female singer of our time, yet undiscovered by a broad audience. As I am a Flooraholic from Utrecht, The Netherlands, here is some more background information on her. She joined the band 'After Forever' in 1997 at the age of 16. My favourite song is 'Energize Me'. They made a very beautiful music video out of this. Floor attended the then new Rock Academy in 1999 and graduated in 2003. Later she did a year Conservatory to learn some more classical singing. 'After Forever' disbanded in 2009 and Floor started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch. Here she experimented with different vocal styles within one song, such as from full operatic to serious growls in seconds. The songs 'Disdain' and 'Wild Card' are good examples. During this time Floor also did vocal coaching and as Floor is a perfectionist she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. She had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the American Tour as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor had just 48 hours to learn the whole setlist. There is a documentary made of this world tour ('Please learn the setlist in 48 hours'). The lyrics of the songs of Nightwish are very poetic and the music as a whole is challenging, but Floor pulled it off and she stayed for the whole world tour, culminating in this iconic Wacken 2013 Open Air festival which set new standards in open air concerts. It was obvious that the match Nightwish and Floor Jansen was made in Walhalla, so she became a permanent member of the band in 2013 as the relationship with Annette and the band was strained even before she became ill. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp' for a couple of years, but it became clear that she could not combine the two for much longer, so Revamp disbanded in 2016. Floor did a side project called 'Northward' where she dived into the Hard Rock scene. The song 'While Love Died' is a must see. Her stunning performances on the Dutch TV show 'Beste Zangers 2019' gave her at last some more recognition in her home country where she was relatively unknown until then. There are numerous guest appearances with other bands to find on RUclips. To see how to get a crowd of metalheads silenced and in awe, watch her featuring with the band 'Epica' and the song 'Stabat Mater Dolorosa'. And to see her in full opera mode watch her rendition of 'O Mio Babbino Caro' from Puccini. As live concerts were cancelled and home isolation due to the Covid situation, Floor discovered RUclips in the last year and uploaded many interesting videos on her channel. Mindblowing covers, chats with her idols and other singers, vocal masterclasses, personal insights and so much more. She even made a video reacting to herself performing this song at Wacken. Lots of technical info and some memories of her starting with Nightwish. Also her 'Fan Friday' videos are hilarious. Just unpack some of the presents she left there. Floorgasm alert! Floor is a high sensitive person, so peace and quiet is as important for her. Living by the woods in Sweden with her husband Hannes Van Dahl (drummer of the band 'Sabaton'); daughter Freja (just turned 4 years last march); a horse and pony; a dog and a bunch of cats, she found this.

Floor Jansen is a vocal athlete with incredible range, versatility, vocal stamina, and stage presence. She is a soprano with a range of more than three octaves (D3 to F6). When listening to her sing, it is apparent that she has spent the better part of her life fine-tuning her instrument with help from several vocal coaches. Floor can sing in multiple languages and genres and is a vocal coach herself. It is incredible how she is able to take any song and make it her own. This woman is a true gift to her craft and an incredible addition to a band that has always been great until 2013when they officially hired the undisputed Queen of Metal Floor Jansen, making Nightwish the greatest band on the planet. They made a DVD from that entire concert. It is totally EPIC! And this song was nearly at the end of the concert. Floor had already been pumping out songs for over an hour when she made this to a piece of art.

Listen to more of our dutch queen Floor Jansen solo projects she did besides Nightwish. She did a lot of cover songs. She was also on a dutch tv show Beste Zangers 2019 (Best Singers). Watch that show and you will see her sing different kinds of styles in different languages. She can sing everything. You can also listen to the bands she was before Nightwish "Revamp" and "Afterforever".
Nightwish Army Southern California unit checking in. You're going to have fun experiencing this band's huge catalog of exceptional music. Every performance from this 2013 Wackin concert is a winner, so there is nothing wrong with sticking with vids from it for a while. As far as the variety and sophistication of the "layers" and "sounds" in this piece, you can thank Tuomas -- the man on the keyboards -- for that. He composes the bulk of songs for Nightwish. Can't ignore, of course, the rest of the band that brings it to life: Marco on bass, Jukka on drums, Emppu on guitar, and our Valkyrie Floor -- the most talented female singer performing today.

The band had 3 female singer in their 25y career, BBB was with the second one Anette Olzon, this performance happened 6 years later and the singer is Floor Jansen, the third and actual singer, but GLS is an older song written for Tarja Turunen, the first singer.
They are all 3 very different, and deserve to be discovered. The bass player Marko Hietala is also a great singer as you just listened in the BBB reaction.
Nightwish has a lot of amazing songs to be discovered, each one is different, but every one deserve to be reacted, no bad songs with this band. I see Gabriel Bardac commented below (obviously), he provide you a good list of NW songs with the correct links, are really good suggestions to dive into the NW rabbit hole, I suggest you to pin his comment for the future.

In Europe we call a woman like Floor a valkyrie. 6' 2'' tall, a real female figure and a voice range nobody heard before. From opera, rock, metal to death metal. She can sing every style. Others only try, Floor can. She's the best singer for the songs of Toumas Holopainen, the keyboarder and modern Mozart. And the rest are perfect musicians too. The only way to create great music and reproduce it live with that sound.

Nightwish - The Poet And The Pendulum. This is one of their best works ever (The LIVE version with lyrics and again Floor on vocals is the best)
Ghost Love Score is one of those few songs you can hear a hundred times and you'll hear something new every time.
This song is euphoric. Its now my go to song to make me happy. Its absolutely nuts how this makes me feel.
The first song you reacted to has Anette as the lead singer. She was good, but had a more 'pop' style voice. It suited the direction Nightwish were going at the time. The first inger Tarja was full operatic, so maybe Anette struggled with the older songs, but did her own thing with them. Floor Jansen is the current singer and the singer here, she is amazing. She can do it all, Opera, pop, rock, country, anything.
I'd recommend you react to Romanticide next, from the same concert. Its heavier, but still super catchy. Then go on to the Beste Zangers TV show from 2019 with Floor. She demonstrates her versatility there. The Dutch public didnt really know her before that, but were blown away by her, to the point that they added more Dutch concerts because of demand.
Yep, this is what happens, when you merge symphony music with metal music, and doing it by using the composer nicknamed Metal Mozart, add some extremely skilled and tight musicians - and then on top - you add Floor Jansen!!! The most powerful and versatile singer in this century - the undisputed queen of Metal...
Nightwish are the nr 1 Symphonic Metal band ever existed - and they are still evolving and are currently preparing their next world tour.
I would advise you to stick on some more Wacken 2013 songs, before you move on to Wembley and Tampere 2015, Buenos Aires 2018, and the Human Nature album.
In Nightwish's first era, they had Tarja as Lead singer. Her style and singing was opera oriented.
Then Anette came along (you have heard BBB) - and her style was more versatile and pop oriented, which Nightwish seeked to evolve, and get away from the operatic style (which was never intended).
And then Anette during the middle of a world tour got sick and was temporary exchanged with Floor Jansen - in September 2012, in Denver.
Floor was at her sister's wedding, when she got the call - jumped on a plane from the Netherlands to the US, and learned the setlist in less than 48 hours, and entered the stage in Denver.
And then Nightwish's 3. Evolution started. Floor brought along a more metalish style and stage performance - and a grab / control /dialog with the audience - plus her phenomenal powerful and versatile voice. Together with her personality, she boosted the band's energy and creativity. Tuomas (composer of 90 - 95%) of all Nightwish songs - suddenly had no limits in his writing - Floor could tell every story, no matter the style or technique, he could ever imagine - and far better also..
The themes of his songs changed from deep personal thoughts into more difficult and complicated / complexed things like the Evolution, wonders of the world and the nature etc etc.
All Nightwish songs are complexed and deep - and so are the compositions of the music. It has so many layers, and the poetic lyrics are often written in ways that the listener can make his/hers own interpretation and let mind fly away in memories and /or deep thoughts.
This is another level of music, you have entered.

There is no wrong versions of Nightwish.The band has a long history with twist and turns in music and band members.It's only the toxic part of the fandom that thinks there are wrong versions if you don't react to their favourite. Bye bye beautiful is absolutely worth of reaction.Yet I think it's tragic and sad due to circumstances that it was born from.I don't like to listen to it very much due to that fact.But it is Nightwish and it is GOOD. Nightwish is A BAND and it is not just about the singer. There is a massive catalog of music behind them and Nightwish was already well established, GREAT band way before Floor joined.Don't believe the cheerleaders if you want to get to know the band, listen to the history too. Floor is great to the Nightwish as the band is now but she didn't make the band happen.She got lucky they asked her to join. And she is perfect for them but then Nightwish was also great before her.Because of the mastermind who is capable of writing to different band members, styles and instruments.The keyboard player, TUOMAS is where the things happen.So listen what you want and make up your own mind.Don't just go with the hype.
Nightwish have so many great songs and are best live. Stick with songs from this show Wacken 2013, you can’t go wrong… Storytime, Song of Myself, Romanticide and after you have done the Wacken show check out Tampere 2015 and Wembley 2015.

But I think you need a proper kick to the ears.
Try one of these : Song of Myself, Romanticide, Storytime... you look like you appreciate a rough ride. Nightwish can bring it.

This is why people need to pay attention to bands from other countries. There is a LOT of good stuff out there.
This isn't the pinnacle of what Nightwish can do. This is just a small taste. You have a lot of Floor's vocal talent, Marko's epic bass and supporting vocals, Emppu's killer guitar solos, Troy's eclectic instrumentals, and Jukka and/or Kai's masterful drums to discover. Not to mention 2 past singers who also bring a unique and amazing history to the band.
All of this, of course, is because of Tuomas Holopainen (keyboards) writing some of the best music for this band.
