About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners.
As I could see, you understood very well what happened on that stage. You felt the power of this song and appreciate all the key elements of a Nightwish show: the intricate composition, the high level of musicianship of all band members, the stellar vocals and charisma of Floor Jansen, our Dutch metal queen. Of course, your professional experience helped you a lot in understanding that. As you said, "you got to love them". Welcome among us :)
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland.
Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her.
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.

I'm 72 and can't believe it. I've been to many, many great concerts over the years and hope to go to more when this global nastiness goes away. The one concert I will always regret missing (and I don't do regrets as a rule!) is this 2013 Wacken performance of a band I've enjoyed from their early beginnings. Watching you watching this with such enthusiasm only enhances the yearning I have for this time and place. I look on that crowd through the green tinge of envy! Omg yes! That pause at 14:06 was bad. It does makes sense to pause on that spot from a first time listener's perspective, but the part right before and right after that pause should be experienced together. I wish he would rewind 5-10 seconds after each pause.
It's impossible, just think about how youtube destroys videos, it HAS to be transformative to the point of pausing, theres no other option on youtube.

Nightwish is an absolute juggernaut and every member of the band is a true master at what they do. Their stage-presence is just completely off the charts. Truly a once-in-a-generation band.
In these turbulent times watching someone discovering Nightwish makes my heart smile. No you can't have Floor, but the Nightwish army are always welcoming.
Floor is around 6tf tall and is literally a Dutch Goddess. She can also do growls and lows, watch Yours Is An Empty Hope for an example, it's amazing.

You finally got to Nightwish!! Loved you're enthusiasm and excitement of discovering this amazing band. A lot of people are going to recommend More stuff from this concert(Wacken 2013) and Floor's performances from Beste Zangers, but I am going to send you to something purely mind blowing. This is a Nightwish song off their latest album which came out earlier this year. This is the only live, but in studio performance out there of this song, as all concerts were sadly cancelled this year. As you've seen with this performance of Ghost Love Score, Nightwish's sound is HUGE haha. What I love about this song I'm recommending, is that it's a fully stripped back, acoustic version with Floor singing and Troy(a multi-instrumentalist with Nightwish) on the guitar. It will allow you to really hear her voice as she navigates some truly difficult melodies and how technical she is.

I’m glad you finally discovered Nightwish. Floor Jansen is an incredible beast of a singer. But her base Marco will really surprise you, he’s got incredible vocals for days. He has such arrange for somebody who damaged his voice in surgery years ago. I believe he can’t do falsetto because of it. But you won’t even notice that.
Just to have you know, she is a actual trained opera singer, and did classes, and she sang in other bands before this. After Forever is one .
That's nightwish. Something for everyone. Singing, musicianship, lyrics, performance. They have the total package.
An then you still have Marco(bassist) and Troy(multi instruments "not in this video"). They also have excellent voices. Then you have the harmonies between the three.

Toumas the main creator of NW songs and music is by my meaning one of our times best composers. people talk about NW, about Floor. and yes also about him, but in the overall music scene I really think he is underrated for what he gives people. what he creates..
there is just nothing that just do what NW do.
And if you first let them take you on a journey, it never ends, you crave for more, you need more. its a gift you find no place else.

I'm seeing the Nightwish Army is also known as the "Pause Police". Haha!! Pausing is necessary when using copyrighted content per Fair Use laws in the United States. Yet, this video was still copyright claimed by the music company. So frustrating. Also, I've never in my 225+ reactions gone back a few seconds but I will consider it in the future. Really, Nightwish and Epica is phenomental music. If you are a true music lover, there's no way you will be disappointed. Simone Simons, the lead singer of Epica, and Floor Jansen have even performed together (they are good friends). You'll find out later if you carry on with Nightwish reactions.
Btw, do you want a good showcase of Floor's vocal abilities in just one song? From death metal growls to operatic soprano? Check her with ReVamp, her own band (she was the main songwriter) before she joined Nightwish. The only downside is relatively poor audio quality, but Floor is just incredible. I must have watched something like 30 reaction videos to this song in two days. I’ve been a Nightwish fan since Oceanborn came out in -98 but watching videos of people, many avery knowledgeable in music, just reacting to them with pure surprise and joy is a completely new and endearing angle into their music.
I really wonder if this performance can ever be outweighed by anyone or any group. I wish I had been in Wacken 2013. Fortunately it's been caught on video. This reaction is about 30th or 40th of this particular live performance I have watched. It never fails to bring tears to my eyes.

A Dutch program, Beste Zangers featured Floor Jansen in the 2019 season. Several performances were stunning, including her Phantom of the Opera Duet with Henk Poort, her stunning performance of "Shallow" with Tim Akkerman, her performance in German of "Vilja Lied", a Dutch performance of "Mama" and a wonderful Spanish performance of "Que Se Siente". Besides featuring her prowess of singing in various languages, she continues to dip into her entire palette of vocal colors to create compelling images of each song she performs. I highly recommend incorporating some of these intimate performances to compare and contrast with the truly GRAND performances with Nightwish.

I will say from a singing perspective, Ghost Love Score is one of Nightwish's more challenging songs. It takes a lot out of you because of the length alone. The way Floor does it can be even more exhausting. Tarja (the original singer) kept it strictly operatic the entire time, which I always found to be much easier, despite the length of the song. That said, I am always amazed at Floor's stamina, because her method of performing this song is extremely dynamic and I would say vocally more taxing. She is a powerhouse.
So glad to see people enjoying Nightwish.
I would recommend "Dead Boy's Poem" from Nightwish's Buenos Aires performance. If not that, maybe react to Floor Jansen and Henk Poort performing Phantom of the Opera on the Dutch show Beste Zangers. That's a very popular one, and I'm sure you'll get a lot of requests for it.

To me one of the most impressive things about this performance is the fact that this was part of the Encore so she had been on stage for over an hour already.

I'm sure someone in the Nightwish Army has already suggested it but Marko, the bassist in the band, is also an amazing singer. So I would highly recommend The Islander Live in Tampere. I always suggest Vocal Coaches or Voice Teachers to listen to Your's Is an Empty Hope, Live in Mexico City is my favorite. Floor does some amazing things in that one I love to listen to people explain the techniques for. Hope you continue your journey into Nightwish!

I've seen many reactions to the performance of this great song at Wacken and they all have marveled at the voice of Floor, the genius of Tuomas, the skills of the Band in general. But almost none of all these professionals has ever fanboyed as much as you just did (I'm at 3:29). I love you for that. Awesome.

I almost forewent (is this a word?) my mandatory Gabriel-Bardac-like comment. Almost. You still don't get to be spared:
The phenomenon of Nightwish and even more Floor Jansen is that they will start a song on a scale between 0 and 10 on 2 and you will like it.
Then they will turn it up to 4 or 5 and you will be amazed. Then you will realize it's only the first third of the song. Then they will do really crazy stuff and push it up unto 8 or 9 and you will fall in love with them. And then they will blow your mind by doing serious music. Like 12.
The last two minutes of this song is flawless and should be music history.
After spending most of my life with people not liking my music because it wasn't popular or or mainstream enough for the people I knew at the time. It is so nice to see people enjoying music like this and giving it a chance.
