@@MasterofVoice This is the age of danger for her, in this industry. I hope her parents are strong, and have a great attorney. However, judging her performance with a Symphony... I think she's on the path on becoming a classical singer, with a sway in pop... Very classy, in my musical opinion.

You will never forget Emma's performance. How could you? The first time I listened to this I thought I was listening to an 'angel' sing to me. Emma has become an inspiration to millions of people around the world, particularly those with physical and mental challenges, and they are beginning to try to do things they previously thought would be impossible to accomplish. Andre is doing his world tour right now and guess who is traveling with him? Yep, Emma. She can travel and her mother will administer all the work which has to be done on a daily basis to keep her going. If you read more about her you will find out she was bullied in school at an early age and how she coped with that dilemma. She is 15 years old and she is a wonderful human being whose courage and determination will not allow her condition to stand in her way to do what she wants to do with her life, to sing to us.
Nice to see you again! .

A wonderful reaction to Emma's epic performance of 'Voila'.
I don't know for sure, but I don't think Emma has had much formal training of her voice. For the most part, I think she sings with her natural voice, and relies on her immense natural talent in her interpretations of the songs she performs. As far as her stage presence goes, she appears to be an instinctual performer, simply doing what comes naturally to her. I am not for a moment suggesting that she does not work hard at her craft. Quite the opposite, she works very hard for perfection, and it shows.
Whatever is the case, she is clearly very, very good, extraordinary in fact. She is definately a young artist worth keeping an eye on. She is already mesmerizing audiences all over the world on tour with Maestro Rieu and the Johann Strauss Orchestra, and what is truly astonishing is that she is only 16 years old. I think there are big things ahead for Emma.
Thanks again for a great reaction. All the best.

Some extra information on Emma Kok:
The introduction by Andre Rieu not shown in your reaction mentions Emma's foundation and that she won The Voice Kids NL in 2021, but did you know how the foundation started? Emma also won the first series of Ministars in early 2023. When asked by the producers what she would do with the €25000 prize money (which the rules stated she could only receive when she was 18), Emma said she would use it to start a foundation: a) to raise awareness of her little known condition, b) to support fellow sufferers of all gastrointestinal illnesses, c) to raise further funds to support research into gastroparesis. They were so impressed by her vision that they decided she could have the money immediately. A few weeks later Emma's Gastrostars foundation was born. In my opinion there is hope for humanity while we have young people with the vision to do something like that, coupled with the drive to make it happen. Emma has also performed concerts for the benefit of musicians / artists impacted by Covid, people affected by flooding in Limburg, and those affected by the Turkish earthquake. Emma has performed for children's cancer charities and in addition to her own foundation is also an ambassador for paediatric research in the area where she lives.
    Recommendations
There is plenty of Emma Kok out there but these are special in their own way
'Father' sung in The Hague at a memorial concert on 8th May 2024. Its powerful and emotional..... It's totally off the charts to be honest. Incredible!
    ruclips.net/video/zXWBj7-edWU/видео.htmlsi=P5lxyjWuj9m97Nbo
'When You Believe' (A Whitney Houston / Mariah Carey cover) sung at the Freedom Concert in Amsterdam 5th May 2024; Emma is 16 here singing with April Darby. This was performed with the King and Queen of the Netherlands and Prime Minister and other dignitaries in the audience.
    ruclips.net/video/YG8WV1GFt_c/видео.html
'You Raise Me Up' Another song in the series of performances around, education, liberation, commemoration and freedom that Emma has supported for the last 2 years. This performed at a church in Rhenen near the memorial site of the WWII Battle of Grebbeberg where approximately 800 lives were lost over 3 days in May 1940.
    ruclips.net/video/NIXB7TbeMvw/видео.html
'Laat Mij Een Vlinder Zijn' (Let Me Be A Butterfly) was Emma's first single, at age 13. The butterfly metaphor was always important to Emma. It relates to her health condition and the constraints of her feeding pumps - wanting to break free from them, like a butterfly fromm its cocoon to fly, even if just for a moment..... There is an official promo video but this live performance at a music festival is great. Emma sings in her native Dutch but this video has English subtitles. Her interaction with the crows and confidence on stage defies her age.
    ruclips.net/video/Vq__3YiPemM/видео.html
If you want a real Emma treat....This was only Emma's 2nd serious performance. It was a socially distanced and streamed concert organised by her 17 year old brother for the benefit of musicians and artists impacted by Covid back in 2020. Here Emma is introduced at time stamp 57:28, the video is the whole concert but the link should take you to the right place; a lovely moment with her father adjusting her microphone stand follows before she begins to sing 'Opportunity' by Sia then at 58:28. In my opinion I don't think it is possible to find a more competent or more moving performance by a 12 year old.
    ruclips.net/video/LBLloP4bQLE/видео.html
P.S. at 1:33:05, you can see Emma playing violin, also her brother Enzo (17) on violin, with her sister Sophie (15) singing.

Her vocal range not only in means of tone or pitch, but also from delicate almost fragile to powerful with incredible support from her core using chest and head voice is simply amazing. And not to forget Emma doesn't (or at least at the time of this performance didn't) speak French, she learned and memorized the entire song phonetically. Simply amazing, and having played percussion (mainly drums) in a orchestra myself for almost 20 years, this is the kind of performance where I would gladly put down my drumsticks and enjoy, close my eyes and drift off to my happy place.
P.S. With her petite frame (partly due to her digestive disorder) and obviously this being a French song she keeps reminding me of Edith Piaf.
P.P.S. Good to hear everything is okay with you regarding your health. Ultimately our health is the greatest wealth we have, without it all the money or time in the world mean nothing.

Andy, now I'm going to blow your fuses a little more, and mention that this video, from July 2023 was the first ever performance of the new version of Voila that was put together by Andre and Emma, a very different version of the original Barbara Pravi performance at Eurovision 2021, where it came second. The orchestra had huge problems with their own emotional control during rehearsals, and they all had to work very hard to contain their emotions during the live performance, the first of 12 in Maastricht, and the other huge results of this incredible performance were Andre having the confidence to invite Emma to join him for 2 concerts in Malta, to be a part of his Christmas concert series in Maastricht, and then to be a guest star in his 2024 world tour of 75 concerts, and of course, the other event is that the Voila video on social media has gone massively viral, on RUclips alone, the current views is close to 60 million, and there's also large numbers of streams and views on other sites that RUclips won't let us mention.
Emma was 15 when this video was recorded, and her skills have indeed improved over the last year, and I don't need to mention other videos as such, Roger Clutton has done that already earlier, but if you want an incredible performance, he's absolutely right, Emma's performance of the Demi Levato song, 'Father' at a special WWII commemorative event in the Hague a few weeks ago, that was off the scale, she absolutely nailed the performance, and changed it to enhance it more when compared to an earlier performance last September.
We're all desperately hoping that Andre will give her some more freedom at Maastricht this year, as she's no longer tied by the laws about minors, she's now 16, and we know she's more than able to perform incredible songs with huge power and emotion, we're just hoping that Andre will allow her to fly even higher now, it's very apparent from social media posts that she's a very happy and comfortable fit with Andre and the orchestra, the only thing that's holding her back is the very real limitation of being tied to feeding tubes for 22 hours a day, and that's not going to change in the near future, and another side effect of her illness is that her stamina is massively limited compared to most teenagers, we just have to hope that her foundation will find ways to change and improve the treatment of her disease.
People who know me know what's coming next, and I make no apologies for repeating this appeal on a regular basis, Emma's foundation is almost unique in terms of the work they are doing, there's been very little research into a devastating illness, the effects on the sufferers are huge.
Emma's foundation can be found at gastrostars.nl
Please, if at all possible, join me in making a (regular) contribution to her foundation, to enable them to help patients like Emma, and research this awful disease that has affected her from birth, and requires her to be tied to the pumps and feeding tubes since she was 9 MONTHS old, for 22 hours a day, hopefully, the work of her foundation will find a cure.
One of their main people is a surgeon who has a lot of experience in dealing with gastroparesis, and she is not only a surgeon, but also suffers from the same disease herself, to the extent that as a result of her condition worsening, she's had to leave her role in the hospital, and she is now dedicated to the foundation, and working to help find possible new treatments, or even better the cure that will free people like Emma to live a more normal life, rather than be tied to the feeding pumps for so many hours every day.
It will be so good if the work of Emma's foundation can lead to a better treatment, or even a cure, which will free her to do more singing, and it may be people here who make that possible.

@@KayleeHayes-ui3gp using a laptop rather than a phone is a huge help, but the real motivation is to try and get as much support as possible for Emma and her foundation, her drive and determination in the face of huge challenges has hugely impressed me, and at the wrong side of 70, that's not easy to do, but the reality is that Emma is almost unique, and hugely deserves as much support and encouragement as possible, and yes, the fact that she's hugely talented makes it even easier to give her that support.

Hello Andy, Good to hear that you recovered. I love your reaction to Emma. In the comments I see a lot of sugesstions, so I will not overflow you, but point out a couple of things she does to prepare her performances.
Prior to the liberation concerts she visited the Margraten WW2 militairy cemetery, where still some 8000 american soldies are buried. She introduces hereself and explains why she believes it is important to remember.
Here is the link with English subtitels:
    ruclips.net/video/e5HBdHX6bew/видео.html
Also in the commemoration performance in Rhenen where she sang You raise me up you will see shots of her visiting the cemetary (carying her 2 pump in bag and showing how small she is) before singing the link is in the othe reactions.
She sang Voila earlier but a lot faster, like Barbara Pravi. Andre Rieu and herself rearanged it to this incredable slower and impressive version. Now of course , as you can expect from Andre in a waltz tempo.
Im am looking forward to other reactions from you. Stay healthy and all the best, Jacques Dupain

The original and official video of this legendary performance has the beautiful and heartfelt introduction by andre for Emma included (very important as well) and doesn't have thos annoying subtitles to take away the attention from Emma's performance.

Actually, I’ve seen some Netherlanders say it is a short o sound. Best I can tell from listening to André, you shape your lips like you’re going to say ‘cook’, but then say the short vowel sound as in ‘kock.’ It’s easier to pick out when he talks about Enzo Kok in the intro.

I am Dutch and you pronounce it like kock. Kok in Dutch means chef in a kitchen.

I realize it’s your channel and you can do what you want but you butchered it with all of the stops especially at the end 🙄. Definitely NOT subscribing!
