Emppu, the guitarist, typically wanders all over the stage, both offering encouragement to the other members, as you saw, and playing practical jokes. During one piece at this same concert, he walked by and turned off Floor's in-ears. Of course she recovered quickly but it was a cute moment. Floor has been known to respond in kind. You noticed that Emppu drinks Corona. Floor has dumped his bottle and replaced it with apple juice, which he despises. Quite the surprise on stage! The bottom line is, these people love one another. It's heartwarming to watch them over time.

Can you believe that at the moment of this concert, Floor (the singer) was a member of this band for only 10 months? Nightwish and Floor are a match made in heaven.
This is not correct. Floor was not officially. Made the lead singer until the autum of 2013. This concert was in the summer. She, herself said in an interview. That she felt she was not good enough to sing for the band.
Yes this band is from Finland like I am. Usually the bass player is doing their songs, but sometimes together. The singer Floor Jensen is classically trained opera singer. Fans call the rections Floorganism and band Nightwish army. They are really popular around the world specially in south America. Sometimes groud even have tears off happines in their gigs.
She was _asked_ 10 months earlier, if she could POSSIBLY come and fill in later becayse their then current singer was pregnant and might not be able to sing the last shows of the tour. Well, things went a bit sideways and Floor was called to help. Tuomas (keyboards and most of the composing) said:"please learn the setlist in 48 hours". She did and this is day four.
Canadian regiment reporting for duty. Dear sir, 15 min of you "jibbering and jabbering" on about Nightwish is only an appetizer for us in the Nightwish Army. Well done! Great reaction. You have an incredible, diverse journey ahead of you with Nightwish, and the Army will be with you. Look forward to the next! Thank you. This whole concert was amazing, my favs are Romanticide, Song of Myself, Storytime and Everdream. Two songs that you must also check out that are their longest are Poet and the Pendulum (Wembly Arena Concert) and The Greatest Show on Earth, the Tempere concert version. By the by, Tuomas is the keyboardist and the composer. Do your research ahead of time on Poet especially, it was a "band breakup" song of sorts, and it is a huge emotional journey put into song from the members processing the departure of the bands original singer. Great Show on Earth is music put to the evolution of the universe. Their newer stuff is incredible too and a totally different flavour. Shoemaker is a song honouring scientists and in particular, Eugene Shoemaker, a NASA scientist. There are so many more. Enjoy!

As a 64 year old great grandmother who is a brand new Nightwish Army conscript I am not ashamed to admit this song both gives me goosebumps AND makes me cry. The multiple Floorgasms are simply a bonus.
Heh, love you Melissa. And welcome to NW-army. There is always room for another fan. I turned 43 just today, and started to think years back. Suddenly realizing that i have been a NW fan for aeons. I can already hear the footsteps of the Nightwish Army approaching the comment section. Don't worry, they are a cool bunch. Prepare for the rabbit hole of your life.
What amazes me most about Floor's performance here is that not only was she relatively new to the position of lead singer of Nightwish, she was already an hour into an incredible performance when she knocked this masterpiece out! She is a great fit in Nightwish, a real virtuoso in a band of virtuosos. Watch the whole concert if you get a chance. It's well worth the time spent.
Hello [Key of] Geebz ! Nightwish fans here, your reaction just appeared on our radar.. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing in 2013 at Wacken Open Air festival, in front of a 82k+ audience. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra, London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. You have a good ear. As I could see, you appreciate all the key elements of a Nightwish show: the intricate classical-structured "cinematic score" composition, the high "purple level" :) musicianship of all band members, but most of all - the stellar vocals, versatility and charisma of Floor Jansen, our Dutch metal queen. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps. I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. lol " Hope you'll continue this journey with us, so I'll drop here a list of songs with the current lineup of the band you may like (please consider this list of links only as "a tip of the iceberg", an indication that they have a vast and very diverse repertoire, and not as something mandatory): "Romanticide" live at Wacken 2013 (metal) ruclips.net/video/zz_7OCCQlXs/видео.html "Storytime" live at Wacken 2013 (uplifting vocals) ruclips.net/video/pvkYwOJZONU/видео.html "Ever Dream" live at Wacken 2013 (uplifting vocals) ruclips.net/video/1Xi4n8dJcF8/видео.html "Song Of Myself" live at Wacken 2013 (dark/metal) ruclips.net/video/lQu5QjidHWg/видео.html "Dead Boy's Poem" - live Buenos Aires 2018 (soulful ballad) ruclips.net/video/S8E3L7ggLMM/видео.html "Ghost River" live at Wacken 2013 (metal) ruclips.net/video/05eitd-EA6I/видео.html "Dark Chest Of Wonders" live at Wacken 2013 (metal, the greatest show opener ever) ruclips.net/video/OvOD6xecph4/видео.html "My Walden" live at Wembley 2015 (celtic / folk) ruclips.net/video/knqeI807ZlY/видео.html "Sleeping Sun" live at Tampere 2015 (ballad) ruclips.net/video/rsotlzr9wNw/видео.html "Stargazer" live at Tampere 2015 (operatic vocals / metal) ruclips.net/video/NhEuAPYm_Ug/видео.html "Slaying The Dreamer" live at Buenos Aires 2018 (metal) ruclips.net/video/wA44tjaP5n0/видео.html "I Want My Tears Back" live at Buenos Aires 2018 (celtic / folk vibe) ruclips.net/video/TBOdgxjb0kM/видео.html "Devil & The Deep Dark Ocean" live In Buenos Aires 2018 (metal) ruclips.net/video/t26r_vAYQ0Q/видео.html "Weak Fantasy" live at Tampere 2015 (dark metal) ruclips.net/video/AN239Pbqbjo/видео.html "7 Days To The Wolves" live at Wembley 2015 (dark metal) ruclips.net/video/XvsfwAPbWXc/видео.html And if you want to hear Floor growling :) then try "Yours Is An Empty Hope" live at Mexico City in 2015 ruclips.net/video/DuwY1d-KIss/видео.html Last but not the least - they just released their 9th studio album on April 10th named "Human :||: Nature" - just take a peek to their official playlist: ruclips.net/p/PLihZ3gi5Yvzc0pfH2cbNKUUX8o3pb8eVg (for example: "Shoemaker", the 3rd track from this album, tells the story of Eugene Shoemaker, one of the founders of planetary science, whose ash was sent on the Moon after his death, as a tribute from the scientific community ..) You being a composer you would probably really enjoy the poet and the Pendulum by Nightwish. read the backstory of the piece . it really puts it in perspective.
82,000 people at this concert this song was about an hour and a half into it and she was still powerful. The best thing is that they are all equal in the music. No one over powers the other it is all about the music not their egos
The composer is Tuomas Holopainen aka Metal Mozart. And welcome to the Nightwish Rabbit Hole. Once you're in - you never wanna leave. Espescially from a composers side of view.
So correct! I have been calling him a Metal Mozart since I first heard of Nightwish a few years ago. I have been hearing their music when Tarja was their lead singer, and I fell deeper still when Floor started to sing with them. The talent is off the charts.
Affirmative. Let him find "The Poet and the Pendulum" or even "Greatest Show on Earth". Not to forget the absolute beauty of Floor and Troy doing the unplugged version of "How's the Heart"...
The guy touching people's back is their lead guitar player. He has a reputation of being a prankster on stage. His touching them might have been a nice gesture, or he might have been turning off their in ear monitors lol
Floor Jansen is the lead singer, and she's the swiss army knife of singers. Talented in a wide variety of styles. Arguably one of the best singers alive today.
Floor Jansen is the third singer of nightwish and she is classically trained and a professional voice coach as well, she is currently doing cover songs and a master class online on her RUclips channel, check it out, awesome 😎she is probably the best female singer ever, awesome 😎
I saw Tarja live, she is my favourite. I wouldn't say best female singer ever. There have been some amazingly flawless vocalists. Examples ready if challenged.
Yes the latest albums miss a bit the explosiveness, to me this counts for whole band not only floor. But isnt this a characteristic of something that only belongs to the best bands?
@@ldd2142 of course. Nightwish albums sound great but live they are even better. But only the last album is bit softly produced compared to previous ones, guitar is not as aggressively pronounced, of course, that is how Tuomas wanted it, but I guess live version will have more power can't wait to see how new album will sound live, I think we will be pleasantly surprised
@@AleksandarGospic Yeah the guitar tends to be pulled back a bit in their studio stuff. Can't wait to hear Endlessness and Tribal with a more powerful guitar.
@@KeyOfGeebz Tuomas Holopainen - keyboards and main composer - basically writes most of this music. Choirs, symphonic orchestras - he throws the lot at you. To create the same sound on stage - the use of backing tracks is inevitable. As is the joining of the sixth band member of Nightwish - Troy Donockley. An instrumentalist that plays Ulliean pipes, tin whistles, bozookie and other instruments since 2007 as a guest musician but as of 2013 as a full member - the same year Floor Jansen was enlisted after she was asked in 2012 to fill in after Nightwish and then lead vocalist Annette Olzon parted ways in the middle of their US tour . Floor was with the band less then a year when this show was recorded.
@@KeyOfGeebz In the "pause" the same phrase is repeated four times, double bass 10:22 , reeds 10:37 , bassoons 10:49 , flutes 11:10 . Later, when Floor "conducts" the crowd you can hear the band play the almost exact phrase. Tuomas does that a lot. He introduced an idea somewhere in the song, or even in the intro, then let it come back later.
@@KeyOfGeebz No triggers... the band synchs to a click throughout the entire song. This is why the drummer never stops moving: if he loses time during rests the entire band will be off with the orchestra
Nightwish is a Finnish band and here are the members currently: - Tuomas Holopainen - Keyboards & main composer/arranger - Finnish - Floor Jansen - Main Vocals - Dutch - Marco Hietala - Bass & Vocals - Finnish - Emppu Vuorinen - Guitarist - Finnish - Kai Hahto - Drums - Finnish (In the video you just watched it was still Jukka Nevalainen, he left as the drummer in 2014 and is now with the band's management team) - Troy Donockley - Uilleann pipes, tin whistle, vocals, guitar, keyboards, bouzouki, etc. - English The backing tracks are recorded with the London Philarmonic full orchestra and choir. They had 2 previous singers Tarja Turunen 1996-2005 and Anette Olzon 2007-2012. Best method for reacting to Nightwish that I figured from watching reactors and discovering them recently and exploring their catalog myself: Keep the particularly long and complex songs listed below, if you have not watched them already, for after you have seen all the more standard ones from the 4 live shows mentioned in the numbered list: - Ghost Love Score (Wacken) 10 minutes - The Poet and the Pendulum (Wembley) 14 minutes >>> Doing some research on the background story for this song is very important to be able to appreciate the meaning of the lyrics. - Greatest Show on Earth (Tampere) 21 minutes 1- Just do all the Wacken 2013 songs, they are all great. 2- Then the Wembley 2015 ones that are not part of the Wacken show. 3- Then the remaining songs from Tampere 2015 that were not in the previous 2 shows mentioned. 4- Then the older songs from Buenos Aires 2018 that were not in the previous 3 shows mentioned. 5- To see what they can do with a cover and if you like Marco's singing, watch their interpretation of Pink Floyd's High Hopes. 6- Then you can explore Floor's versatility with her band ReVamp's live performances of the songs Disdain at Graspop and Wild Card at Bloodstock. 7- And finally go in the deep end of the Floor talent pool by reacting to her performances on Beste Zangers in the order the episodes aired. For the first 4 steps, you can alternate between shows, but I would recommend to still only take songs that are not performed in the previous shows mentioned, as they are ordered in audio quality from best to worst. From watching a lot of reactions, in my opinion this is the most efficient order to discover the rabbit hole that is Nightwish and Floor Jansen. That should keep you busy for a while. 😀
@@MycontentisgoldJerryGold Problem with After Forever is it is very difficult to find a good live recording, but if you know of some, please let me know and I will be glad to add them.
@@shuriken4852 just thinking that If one want to get know Nightwish as a band. Then its good check also some songs performed earlier singers (Tarja and Anette) too. Afterall Nightwish did not have any bad singers. Today there is Floor and she is great one.
For a Story: Emppu(Guitar) likes to turn off Floor's(vocalist) in ear during certain pieces. She has responded at various points by switching out his beers with apple juice, which he has spit out near equipment so they had to tone it back since there is a ton of equipment on stage. During "I Want my Tears Back" Wacken 2013 you can see Emppu tell Troy (multi-instrumentalist and vocals, not on stage for Ghost Love score) that he is going to turn off Floor's monitor at about 3:45. Emmpu then turns off her monitor at ~3:58, 4:02 she reaches back to turn it on, 4:04 Troy shakes his head cause he really did it. At 4:28 she does a spin as Emppu passes behind her again to keep an eye on him. In front of a crowd of 82,000, they are still messing around. As another note to the character of the band, the DVD for the Wacken 2013 show has the names of the German tour bus drivers in the credits. Not just them, but the full crew and a lot more people than are normally mentioned by bands in their credits.
Watched her stare him down as he passed behind her ... he looked like a rat caught in a trap! One of the funniest things I've ever seen in a concert video. Thanks for sharing!
Yes but the studio version is best. Idk why everyone tells people to listen to the live version all the time. Unlike Ghost Love Score the Greatest Show is not as good live.
@@kmasse81 I think that's just come down to preference. I love both versions, but I prefer the live version because its a performance, and not just a song. If I had to pick between only the audio of each version, then I might go for the studio version.

I'm also a student of orchestration and really love that element of Nightwish's music and Tuomas's genius. Really glad to hear your appreciation for the interlude that a lot of people just want to get through. It's the rare rock or metal concert where you get to hear a bass clarinet! Nightwish is one of the rare bands (for me) where the live performances are often better than the studio recordings: except in regard to really hearing the orchestral elements. The studio versions allow one to hear the entirety of Tuomas's thoughts, and in conjunction with the unsurpassed energy of the live shows (I've had the good fortune to attend 3 Nightwish concerts) allow for the total experience. Given your own field, I think you would really get a lot out of the newest album 'Human :II: Nature.' Not only great music, but the orchestral elements and compositional genius blow me away. You will also really love The Greatest Show on Earth for similar reasons. Another one that I would say to listen to the studio recording after hearing the live (Tampere concert is the best) performance. I'm very much looking forward to following your journey with this spectacular band!
I'm a concert photographer for many years now and I always knew about nightwish, I been to hundreds of festivals and concerts and kept avoiding them over the years passively, cause I wasn't a fan of their previous vocalists. but in february this year I seen the first reaction to this song therefore it was my first reaction to the band with their current singer, and ever since that time, I tear up during that song whenever I hear or see it. and still now, after seeing all possible reactions over the year... I still need tissues... she's an angel!
Might probably have already been mentioned,. but one of the most incredible things about her performance is that it happens a good 2 hours into the gig! And does she sound in the least bit tired? No she bloody well does not!!!
This is true. I've been there and it was awesome! She has so much power and fits so well into the Band... My son, whom I was pregnant with at this concert, is a huge fan of her, too.
Thanks for the reaction! Fun fact: they're all good friends and have great chemistry on stage, they're all so good at they're job so they will often move on stage and socialise with each other or the public (especially Emppu, the guitarist). It makes the live performances even more enjoyable.
@@KeyOfGeebz Honestly, stick with this concert for the next few songs, it's arguably their most consistently amazing performance. Romanticide, Song of Myself, Ever Dream, Storytime, then you can start venturing into some of their other stuff. There's a few epic songs that should be reserved for later after you've gotten to know the band and their history. This would include Poet and the Pendulum, and The Greatest Show on Earth. Then you can diverge off into some amazing side paths including The Islander (Live from Tampere), The Phantom of the Opera (End of an Era) featuring their original lead singer, High Hopes (Live Pink Floyd cover). Then come back for some more classics like Dead Boy’s Poem. Eventually you can start to check out their stuff from their newest album, or maybe wait for live versions.

Tuomas, the keyboardist and main composer for Nightwish is a big fan of movie soundtracks. His favorite composer is Hans Zimmer. He would love to be involved in writing movie score in the future. Nightwish is playing to a Pro Tools click track which also includes a full backing track from the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Metro Voices Choir. When they play indoor gigs you are able to better hear the details of the backing tracks. There is so much more to hear from this amazing symphonic metal band my friend. I too have written some songs in my day, but Tuomas is a master at using cinematic soundtrack techniques in his metal songs. Nightwish does some very heavy music, but they also do many softer songs with interesting musical compositions. Tuomas loves to use key changes as well as time signature changes, along with extreme dynamics to add dramatic impact to his music. He is also a wonderful poet, which he incorporates into his music as well. He loves poetry from some of the masters, such as Whitman, Thoreau, and Byron. We lovingly like to refer to him as The Metal Mozart. I loved your reaction and have the utmost respect for you and others of your profession. It is such a momentous achievement to be able to obtain so much musical knowledge. Understanding all of the color of the different instruments and how to weave that magic tapestry together as a whole. It must be such a thrill to hear you compositions played live/or recorded for the first time by a full orchestra and/or other musical textures including electric instrumentation, vocalists, and possibly choirs. I loved your analysis and commentary of this reaction video. I look forward to additional reactions to my favorite band. Just subbed for the ride. Hope you cold improves and enjoy the ocean. Surfs Up! Peace.
Welcome to Nightwish fandom. This is often the gateway song for the discovery of the band. They have a deep catalog. The band has had three lead singers and several line up changes over the years.
Floor is indeed the third singer of this band and in my opinion she is the best most versatile vocalist in the world ever, she can sing whatever she wants to sing from opera till deep grown man growls and everything in between. But i have seen concerts with the previous singers (Tarja and Anette) and you don't hear me say that they are bad because they're great vocalist but just in the genre that they do but if you look at the band chemistry with Floor on stage you can see that they are love what they do and i missed that Feeling with the previous singers they have fun together and when you're having fun in what you do then you're at your best. You have just scratching the surface now and if you watch all the other songs of wacken 2013 from Nightwish.....they will blow your mind song after song after song. thnx for you great reaction and greetings from the Netherlands
Oh, we have a newbie here... Soon my friend soon, soon you will begin to understand the scope of the rabbit hole you have just entered. And then you won't because you'll just be stunned by the following song Welcome to nightwish, remember this day.
You comment about it being cinematic is spot on. The keyboard player is their composer and in an interview he mentions his liking of film scores as what he calls contemporary classical music. Great stuff!
@@KeyOfGeebz ruclips.net/video/iEzZRMthhXU/видео.html ghost love score is a great entry level song into the Nightwish rabbit hole. There's so many more that you'll have to react to now that you've scratched an itch that you have to go back to lol. Try this one. There live performances have phenomenal recordings and the clarity is worth listening to. In my personal opinion I think that the live recordings are better than the album version. This one is called the Poet and the Pendulum. Do a little research on the meaning behind the song. The lyrics are very dark and very personal. Also it's a very long song so feel free to elaborate on a long reaction.
When I first heard from Nightwish, it was the year 2004. They came around with a single called "Nemo". It took me instantly into the world of Symphonic Metal. I fell in love with this huge combination of hard rock, symphonic parts and an opera singer. I had no idea that Nightwish were active for years at this moment. I never heard from them before. But I was sure I MUST have the album. So, I went to buy the album when it came out. What an album! "Once" is its name. But I had no idea what was on it. Yeah, "Nemo", of course. The follow-up single "Wish I had an angel", of course. But also "Ghost Love Score". This chorus! So fat, so complete, so over everything that I have ever heard. And I was sure, nobody can sing it better than Tarja Turunen. But sadly she left the band. I have no memory of her successor, Anette Olzon. But, man, then came Floor Jansen. Well, I didn't know much, but I knew she was a great singer. But could she stand "Ghost Love Score" since this is their masterpiece? Well, she sang everybody and everything to the ground. What a singer! Can you imagine that she is also able to do death growls? Like somebody commented here: Tuomas: "What vocal range?" Floor: "Yes" "Ghost Love Score" is such a great song. There is no better rock song in my opinion. And now I can say, nobodycan sing this song better than Floor.
@@spendsox Its a term used for the masses of Nightwish enthousiasts. has nothing to do with the 12 years I spent in actual armed forces I agree, good point ;)
Because there will undoubtedly be more requests from that show: Make sure to use either the official live version (for single tracks) or the "correct speed" version here on youtube. The full-concert version with the most clicks has a bitrate / framerate issue which slows it down slightly, means the pitch is off. You probably understand the technicality better than me, but there you have the info :D Great reaction, keep it up :)
It's so much more interesting to see ppl who actually knows what they are talking about reacting, than the "random no clue youtuber reacts". Key has an interesting view on the production and composing side of things that I really enjoy. Knowing the difficulties behind such performances besides their abilities to play instruments and sing is making it so much more enjoyable.
"The Greatest Show on Earth" is Tuomas' (Nightwish's keyboardist and writer) compositional masterpiece. You should check it out. It's very long, though, but definitely worth it. There is also an awesome live version of it. That song still gives me goosebumps every time I see it live.

Floor is a Dutch deity she comes from Friesland (northern North sea coast province) where the ancestry is most close to the Norwegian/Nordic Vikings! Her version of The Phantom of the Opera with Dutch opera singer Henk Poort is a thing top behold. It catapulted her already insane career into warp speed and re-energized Henk's career as well. It went crazy viral some years ago and Henk ended up doing a tour with Nightwish where they re-did their Phantom of the Opera song with huge crowds. Also fulfilling one of Henk's youth dreams of singing in a rock/metal band. Floor also released here first solo album shortly after.
If no one has said it, Nightwish runs a backing track off a computer, back stage, for the orchestration and backing choir along with a click track that every member has in their in ears.
I've spoken with several who have been to various large outdoor concerts of this band & they all say how stunning the level of production is in quality, but the boss of this band, the keyboards player, has a reputation for demanding only the very best of everything & everyone.
Storytime is also one of the cinematic songs. And everything from the Wacken 2013 show is good, because of the good work they did. Wembley 2015 is really good one too.
welcome to symphonic metal, now that you have done a nightwish reaction, our army will show up, your channel will blow up, their songs will appear all thru your comments, and as we in the nightwish army say, most singers sing what they can, floor sings what she wants
Hello Sir, member of the Nightwish Army here. When I got your video on my suggestions I thought "23min reaction for Ghost Love Score? That's a lot even for this song" but I gotta say, it didn't felt like that long. From your method I liked at which parts you paused, when you just threw in a short note without really disturbing the song, your short rewinds after your breaks and your nonverbal reactions, both intentionally and unintentionally. Also it shows that you have profession in what your reaction is about and that you understand not only what you're talking about, but also what they are doing. So, that said, keep up the work, I would love to see more reactions to Nightwish from you, made in the same quality as this (and this is meant without sarcasm, minor disturbances can happen anytime, you covered them well). Since Gabriel already provided his usual Nightwish manifesto (he deserves more likes, but I've seen you already noticed it, which is great!) I'll only say a few personal, less objective words. Tuomas Holopainen, founder, keyboarder, song writer and composer for almost every Nightwish song is the mastermind of the group. Ghost Love Score is by now one of the older (but probably most reacted to) songs of them from the Tarja era, but it still shows the talent of Tuomas, which he then only repeatedly proved to still have and even to be able to better himself again and again. Floor on the other hand is the heart of the group, transmitting any emotion of a song directly into the hearts of the audience. You just witnessed only a part of her capabilities; as Gabriel mentioned you can also hear her growling and especially in their longest track (which is as long as this reaction video, so if you ever do this, maybe prepare a can of strong coffee) you can hear her go full ethereal, unearthy goddess. I won't go into detail though, because I don't want to ruin the surprise and experience. Her biggest talent is to switch vocal styles in what feels like milliseconds, changing from metal goddess - or Valkyrie - to loving queen to ... something other. Long story short: welcome to the world of Nightwish, loved your reaction and hope to see more; I'd be happy if you did some research now that you witnessed them the first time. It's always great to see the surprise in first reactions and it's totally cool to go in them unprepared, would spoil a lot of fun, but at some point it gets a bit frustrating if views seem to be a bigger motivator than interest :) Best regards from Germany, hope you continue your journey through the vast fields of Nightwish's music history with us!
Wow Alexander, thank you so much for your comments and information. So much for me to learn about Nightwish and looking forward to it!! Again, thank you! 🤙🤙

The woman starting with opera and took it the rock tour was at (I thought) AGT and took it from opera to Highway to hell from ACDC. Briliant performance was that.
The songwriter and composer Tuomas Holopainen would be totally in his element composing movie music. In fact, Nightwish's most recent album "Human. :II: Nature.", is a double-cd release, where the second CD is essentially a 30 minute classical piece, called "All The Works of Nature Which Adorn The World". It's utterly gorgeous. A fan made a video for it that Tuomas himself loved - it is as beautiful as the piece it's made for. You can find it here: ruclips.net/video/RnOdQ5WNZJk/видео.html
I would call it a NeoRomantic ( not in the 80's sense, but in the orchestral composers' semse. Yes I know you know this Abba but the comment is for the less informed) piece, but whatever the genre, it is truely inspiring music.
What I liked the most about your analysis of the composition, apart from all the professional comments on the music and vocal techniques, is the way you reacted at the end. I mean the emotional reaction. I'm a quite a sensitive person myself, and this combination of musical and singing strain at the end gave me the same reaction of emotional catharsis. That's what real art does. Thank you for this video. Definitely liked it!
Nightwish army is here! 😁🤘 I will never get tired of seeing people experiencing Nightwish for the first time! 😅 Loved your reaction! I've seen so many but you brought something different and your own! I hope you will do some more because this is one of the best bands on the planet and if you are a composer then what can one say, in Nightwish we have metal Mozart called Tuomas Holopainen, I'm sure you want to see more! :)
Finally the professional insightful conposer reaction and analysis of Nightwish Ive been waiting for! Its a much needed, ESSENTIAL perpective sorely lacking in Nightwish react sphere. Id love a more in depth analysis of this, and also on other Nightwish epics like Dark Passion Play and Greatest Show on Earth. And even more beyond that, Nightwish is a treasure trove of clever composing and various styles.
The orchestration was done by Pip Williams (former producer for 10cc and The Moody Blues), based on the original song composed by the band's keyboardist.
Great reaction brother. I love watching people with some knowledge seeing this for the first time. Its staggering... the finale still gives me chills and wet eyes. Cheers man😎
Freaking enjoyed your reaction. PLEASE PLEASE continue on the NIGHTWISH journey BROTHER you will not be disappointed. Any song by this band is a treasure.
On a compositional level you should check out Nightwish The Greatest Show in Earth. It’s over 20 minutes long but has a ton of awesome orchestral and instrumental music going on
Thank you for the reaction 😊 Nightwish does use backing tracks for a lot of instruments and backing vocals, since the keyboardist and composer Tuomas, who is the brain behind the band, feels that fans deserve the whole experience that happens on album as well. A lot of the songs from Nightwish were recorded with the full London Philharmonic Orchestra (since Once -album), so there's a lot happening and Tuomas as you said, only has two hands. I suggest, if you are open to suggestions, to take a listen to Nightwish - Poet and the Pendulum live at Wembley. It is my favourite song and I think you will love it as well.
Nightwish Army Denmark 🇩🇰 checking in. I can see the others have filled you in quite a lot already. I also agree on it is to early to some of the real epic masterpieces - like the greatest show on earth, which have around 600 soundtracks..... You have to be given Tuomas's compositions in smaller portions - to really understand the reason why Tuomas is considered to be the Metal Mozart. Notice how tight the band are, nothing overdone and this is live!! And as you noticed, Floor is the singer of the this century - and you have only scratched the surface, believe me! Welcome to the world of the Nightwish Universe 🤘🤘👍

first time on your channel and loved your reaction and comments. I am a 68 year old American who just recently discovered Nightwish (this was my first video I watched months ago) and now I am hooked. Great job.
So Floor, the singer in this video was only a fill-in singer as the band had lost their 2nd singer due to flu and timing on tour. Floor had been filling in for about 10 months at this point in the tour. She later becomes the new lead vocal for the band. Also, this song was around 15 in a 17 song set or about 1.5 hours into playing for them.
How exciting that you are a composer !!! We are used to vocal coaches and musicians and even roadies, but I am so happy to hear your thoughts as a composer !!! You Will Gonna like the song "ghost River" from nightwish at this same concert. Its amazing and shows another side of the singer that will blow your mind
Nightwish usually can make you say wow, feeling goosebumps, appreciate the composition of a master like Tuomas and feeling Floorgasms when she sings. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Welcome to the Nightwish Army!!! YOU WERE NOT READY FOR THE NOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is there a source for this, or a video where I can see it? ahahah

You mean the keyboardist? @@hennahallikainen711
"Singers sing whatever they can. Floor sings whatever she wants!"
And how she wants
There´s only 1 thing that Floor cannot sing.. and that thing is badly!

Enjoy!

Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer.
So be prepared. lol "

Nightwish is a Finnish band and here are the members currently:
- Tuomas Holopainen - Keyboards & main composer/arranger - Finnish
- Floor Jansen - Main Vocals - Dutch
- Marco Hietala - Bass & Vocals - Finnish
- Emppu Vuorinen - Guitarist - Finnish
- Kai Hahto - Drums - Finnish (In the video you just watched it was still Jukka Nevalainen, he left as the drummer in 2014 and is now with the band's management team)
- Troy Donockley - Uilleann pipes, tin whistle, vocals, guitar, keyboards, bouzouki, etc. - English
The backing tracks are recorded with the London Philarmonic full orchestra and choir.
They had 2 previous singers Tarja Turunen 1996-2005 and Anette Olzon 2007-2012.
Best method for reacting to Nightwish that I figured from watching reactors and discovering them recently and exploring their catalog myself:
Keep the particularly long and complex songs listed below, if you have not watched them already, for after you have seen all the more standard ones from the 4 live shows mentioned in the numbered list:
- Ghost Love Score (Wacken) 10 minutes
- The Poet and the Pendulum (Wembley) 14 minutes >>> Doing some research on the background story for this song is very important to be able to appreciate the meaning of the lyrics.
- Greatest Show on Earth (Tampere) 21 minutes
1- Just do all the Wacken 2013 songs, they are all great.
You might also include Floor's time in her first band, After Forever. Otherwise, very complete list. 👌
@@MycontentisgoldJerryGold Problem with After Forever is it is very difficult to find a good live recording, but if you know of some, please let me know and I will be glad to add them.
And maybe some Tarja Turunen era songs as well sometimes
@@Ossi.Myllymaki I am a Floor fan, but you are more than welcomed to suggest you favorite Tarja performances.
@@shuriken4852 just thinking that If one want to get know Nightwish as a band. Then its good check also some songs performed earlier singers (Tarja and Anette) too. Afterall Nightwish did not have any bad singers.
Today there is Floor and she is great one.
Welcome to the Nightwish army. The composer is the keyboard player, Tuomas
For a Story:
Emppu(Guitar) likes to turn off Floor's(vocalist) in ear during certain pieces.
I love this tidbit! Just went back and watched it. It’s hilarious

David, THREE concerts. You are just being greedy. Leave some for the rest of us! I , sadly, will never get to see one.
My son, whom I was pregnant with at this concert, is a huge fan of her, too.
you can see physically the moment the floorgasm struck the old man
Yeah it took a minute but Floor strikes again
Still my favorite description of when she hits that note 🤣🤣
I love seeing first-time floorgasm reactions.
Thanks for the reaction!
Fun fact: they're all good friends and have great chemistry on stage, they're all so good at they're job so they will often move on stage and socialise with each other or the public (especially Emppu, the guitarist). It makes the live performances even more enjoyable.
Welcome to your Nightwish journey, it's long, varied and amazing.
Can't wait!

Nightwish Army Central Florida Black Company reporting for duty!
Surfs Up! Peace.
I love your reaction when you realize she's not done yet and sets up for the high note.
But i have seen concerts with the previous singers (Tarja and Anette) and you don't hear me say that they are bad because they're great vocalist but just in the genre that they do but if you look at the band chemistry with Floor on stage you can see that they are love what they do and i missed that Feeling with the previous singers they have fun together and when you're having fun in what you do then you're at your best.

ghost love score is a great entry level song into the Nightwish rabbit hole.
Like somebody commented here:
Tuomas: "What vocal range?"
Floor: "Yes"
"Ghost Love Score" is such a great song. There is no better rock song in my opinion. And now I can say, nobodycan sing this song better than Floor.
Nightwish is my favorite band, every song they take me on a musical adventure, i love them all.

It's always great to see the surprise in first reactions and it's totally cool to go in them unprepared, would spoil a lot of fun, but at some point it gets a bit frustrating if views seem to be a bigger motivator than interest :)
Best regards from Germany, hope you continue your journey through the vast fields of Nightwish's music history with us!

Floor had been filling in for about 10 months at this point in the tour. She later becomes the new lead vocal for the band. Also, this song was around 15 in a 17 song set or about 1.5 hours into playing for them.
BEST fill in singer ever! Marko must have been pleased when he got a new backing singer....
She gives me chills everytime I hear this song. What an amazing singer and band.
you've got my like when you said "the f*ck was that", you've got my subscription when you mentioned engineering. reaction done well, sir
How exciting that you are a composer !!! We are used to vocal coaches and musicians and even roadies, but I am so happy to hear your thoughts as a composer !!! I'm happy to see that Gabriel and the rest of the NIGHTWISH Army are on board already ! I can't wait to see what you think about the tons of amazing songs that Nightwish offers ! Happy to find and subscribe to your channel !
I've been burned out on GLS reaction vids for a bit but you brought the magic back. Thanks for such a quality reaction!
Yeah, I agree. A new angle of vision.
Loved your reaction. Especially your face a few moments before she hits the note at the end where you realize where she's going to go with her voice!😂
You Will Gonna like the song "ghost River" from nightwish at this same concert. Its amazing and shows another side of the singer that will blow your mind
The video ur watching is waken 2013, with an estimated 80,000, the keyboard player is the genius behind the songwriting and composing
Yes, yes, yes! Haven't watched it yet, but I wanted this so much!
Nightwish usually can make you say wow, feeling goosebumps, appreciate the composition of a master like Tuomas and feeling Floorgasms when she sings.
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
