I've had a 4K Sony Camcorder for over a year now. A lot of people that make RUclips videos seem to think a camcorder is just for old senior citizens or something. My Sony AX-53 has 20 times optical zoom like this one does, and it has very good stabilization. This Canon camera has better data rates at 4K though. And it has two card slots. Don't overlook owning a modern camcorder.
and the Canon G50 has more manual control options.
@@NickDe3 Yes, the Sony AX-53 is kind of old now actually. But the stabilization is pretty insane. And I can actually fit the Sony AX-53 in my pocket if I wear my police type tactical pants.
@@RichardsWorld The image stabilization on the G50 should be pretty good too. I own the G40 which has the same body as the G50 and it has pretty good image stabilization.
Before using canon dslrs. . I osed sony prosumer handicams.. My first was the HC-90 Standard Def. Then upgraded to the Sony HC-7 High Def Mini DV camera. But the screens both went bad from opening and closing and turning the screen around and etc... After 3 years of use each. It really sucked. When I upgraded to my first dslr a Canon T3i. I have hardly rvrt used the flip out screen due to this fear of the screen going bad. The wires and the solder joints eventually weaken and break. Therefore no longer making contact for the screen to work. I loved both my Sont Handi cams and wish they both still worked. But now I use my 5D mark III and 80D for video and stills. But I still hardly use the flip out screen unless I truly need to.
I think the Sony camcorders there 4K options are amazing I feel most people. Look at a camcorder just like I was just for home movies it's not that great. But camcorders are pretty good and not everybody needs a DSLR with interchangeable lenses cuz a lot of people if they start RUclips they can just throw the camcorder on a tripod and get pretty decent quality and not have to worry about shallow depth of field or not I've always been a fan of camcorders because they allow you to zoom they always stay in focus. And they're good for the content that I shoot thank surf videos and other things that require a zoom with good image stabilization but you are right the Sony that you're talking about is pretty badass
What I like about camcorders is the "GO TIME" factor. You show up, your subject is ready, you whip out your camera and its GO TIME! No fiddling around with switches and button and menus and settings and lenses etc. I have been at trade shows and demo days with my professional camera buddy and as awesome as he is....he often has to tell me to wait so he can setup the shot. Set the camera for the new conditions etc etc. Not on every shot but many times during the day we are waiting for the camera man to "set up". Some events have scenes that need to be shot RIGHT NOW! or it's gone.
Camcorders are always in focus, have built in everything (almost) you just flip open and hit record. Ad in image stabilization and 20x optical zoom and 4k....its a run & gun dream come true. Of course if you like DOP shots DSLR's are the way to go but I am a trade show/ events guy who wants everything in focus. I am not making cinema grade movies and don't want to.
This is it. I've made a lot of videos the last few years with a DSLR and given that I fix the camera a lot to appear in front of it, coupled with the time restrictions I've experienced, the actual video quality of most of my work was poor - a lot of scenes out of focus, exposure too high etc. My biggest regret was not getting a camcorder, which would have very competently filmed my entire work with continuity, save for a minor lack of cinematography. If you have the time to compose shots and solely being behind the camera is your passion then great, get a mirrorless/dslr. However, given the trend for vlogging and what not, where people are filming lots of material in short spates, I wonder if we'll go full circle soon and people will turn back to camcorders? I just think the trade off for a camcorder is better, and I'm about to sell my dslr for a camcorder, most likely the ax700.
Do you think a cam corder would be good for shooting Ecommerce Fashion video on cyc wall/white wall backgrounds because you don't want depth of field, you want the model and the clothing to always be in focus?
I've been using Canon camcorders for some time now. I'm a one-man show shooting multi-cam and I like the ease of a camcorder. Just ordered two G50s and plan on ordering two more soon. Looking forward to shooting 4K!

I picked up one on eBay and it was obviously not used very much. I have an older, smaller HF200, which does HD and has stabilization but the HFG50 is in another world so far. My question is, would it be better to use the HFG50 to do football games or my new R7 DSLR? I film start and stop on every play in the game. So the R7 would not time out. I have the lenses to use the R7 from up in the press area. I do find the HFG50 zoom to be quite effective even at the distances a stadium environment places you in.
We prefer G60, it is a bit more pro. Do you recommend G50/G60 or GX10 for standard videos on RUclips? Interviews, Reviews, Street Vlogs...

I was seriously looking at this camera and looked at a lot of reviews, but ended up ordering the Sony AX53 instead. Picking it up Tuesday, I hope I made the right decision.

Looking to get a new camcorder and struggling to pick which one. Sony is out as my older Sony had a problem 1 day after the 90 warranty expired and they would not cover. I had to pay over $200 to get it fixed. Therefore, I am looking at a Panasonic HC-WFX1K and this new Canon. Not sure where I am going to go. Would like a new DSLR but right now these camcorders are more in the budget to get 4K.

This camera looks legit man!!! I dunno if it will ever be a Vlogger camera though since it's a cam corder. Not sure how it will end up. Definately has a lot of features though on it. As far as your question goes I don't look like I'll be upgrading my camera this year as I just got it couple months ago and I love it with my lenses I have already. Cheers

I was thinking of getting a camcorder for their infrared ability, and zoom. I do astronomy videos and when I try to demonstrate equipment at night, my Canon 77D really falls short, even with the ISO up and a fast lens. I'm interested in the Panasonic HC-W580. it also has a second camera so you can record your reaction as you're filming something in front of you, and it appears screen within screen on the same file! Looks like a good addition to me.
Should I use that for RUclips Videos or something little more expensive?

I love it! I would love to upgrade to this camera. While I love how I can switch from taking beautiful photos and shooting video with my Canon DSLR, I think this would be a pretty great upgrade. no brand war just wanted to know your input between sony AX53 and the Canon g50 . i have a ax53 now and i'm thinking about returning it because the 4K video is horribly blurry/choppy when you pan back and forth. not so bad if you go real slow. just asking ..BTW i have a canon T5i and it is amazing . the pictures i get blow me away

Thanks for review and don't always need to be making money with your cams either. Great for recording your kids sporting events/parties too! Big Zoom, Stabilization. Easy...throw in your bag, not worry about using/ruining your pro gear.
First off, love your channel!! I shoot workout videos, Would this be a good camera for that?
I can do all this with my modified yi 4k plus.
You can also modify a gopro 7 black for 10 mp vari focus lenses. For less money (maybe).
Although I suggest buying a pre-modified one vs doing it yourself.

I picked up the Panasonic HC-V180K camcorder for $200 after Christmas to replace my iPhone 6S. Recording live events with the iPhone 6S was always a hassle with limited memory space and battery power. The camcorder has interchangeable memory cards and batteries, a 50X optical zoom, a zoom microphone, and a better low-light sensor.
Nice quick review. I'm looking at carrying a lightweight video...or lighter weight than my 1DX and 120-300 and 500mm combo for shooting aircraft. Would you recommend a system like this?
I have been shooting with the canon Legria HF G25, it's an older model but it does really well in low lighting.

to me the DSLR and mirrorless are better for indoor highly controlled situations wile the camcorder is way better for out doors ,shooting on the fly in situations that pop up. that's why i have one of each.
I have been looking at the Canon XC10 for much the same reasons. Plus the specs have good Still options.

I use 2 canon cameras hf-g25 and hf-g30 fot long livestream production ( 4 to 6-8 hours ).I think the third camera will be a canon also.If this camera have 4K over HDMI will be nice but i dont think will have that.

Lord Callous I would get the m50 for Photography and RUclips content. The camcorder only if you want ease-of-use and don’t want to worry about changing lenses. And if you plan on recording long for content.

why wouldn't you get a sony ax53? sonys 4k camcorder. being sony, I'm sure the picture is better and the stablization is for sure better, and it's at least $100 cheaper.
@@mexicanfrusciante I have taken a look at the a53. Before Black Friday, the price was actually comparable to the M50, but lately, the M50 has been running much better deals - as low as 599 for Camera and Vid creator package.
Sony ax700. This cam has a 1/2.3-inch 4K UHD CMOS sensor.
I was thinking about the BMPCC4K. But, now I hear that the next batch won't ship until April. The new Panasonic S1 full frame camera is coming out in March. As a film maker, I'm drawn to the color science of the BMPCC4K. But, as an owner of a GH5, I am also attracted to the Panasonic S1. So, those are the two cameras I'm considering for 2019.

Surprising value for a Canon, I am sorry but a lot of folks miss the ease of event recording with a good old camcorder. Being able to zoom in and out smoothly with a proper rocker is something lost on folks. I am really looking forward to seeing how the 4k footage looks since it super samples from almost 20mp. Should help with noise, its main competitors from Panasonic and Sony have 1/2.5 sensors vs its slightly larger 2/3 inch sensor. This is pretty big considering that was the size of sensors in professional camcorders back in the day. The only weakness I suspect is is lack of ND filters.
Tip: buyers that can afford this are not in junior high, so your point that this camera "Just Dropped (!)" just makes us fear you have nothing substantive to say. Turns out, you sort of do, ... but mostly for folks who aren't yet familiar with cameras in this range. Fine. Nice job teaching the new converts (really). But how does this compare with, say the XC15? And when can we expect to see reviews targeting serious users? And quality demo footage? I see one can pre-order, but it won't ship til Apr.
