Can't say is underrated af
I was thinking this when I watched the DEHH review. I can't believe nobody brought that up as a favorite track
my favorite song
Best feature on the album
Yeah was a stand out for me as well
Bobby Snake Best joint on there
"and teletubbies show up occasionally and throw percosets in their mouths". That's pure gold
I think you just aren't Travis intended audience. Some of the things you complain about are considered positives to his fanbase. Never even heard Travis but I enjoyed this album, but your criticims are understandable.
These kind of comments are repetitive and do nothing for anyone involved. He doesn't need to be a part of the "Target Audience". It's his opinion. Take it or leave it.
00maniacmanny00 Yeah I said that in the video. Unless you turned it off early. A lot of people seem to do that. But yeah I’m definitely not who he’s speaking to. And that’s cool. But that doesn’t mean his album is beyond criticism. I know you’re not necessarily saying that tho.
@@mykectown I should have said "I agree that you aren't Travis intended audience" because I did hear you say that. The other guy said you don't have to be the intended audience to criticize an album, which I agree with, but I think when you can't enjoy an album content-wise, it can make it seem less appealing sonically.
@@SYMShutYoMouth no he doesn’t need to be a part of the target audience, but it would help him understand the appeal of the album more if he was. It just seems like his criticisms of the album come down to personal taste, which is perfectly fine
@@asher2102 wtf else is his review of an album supposed to be other than personal taste?
I think he listened to the wrong album again
B. Stone Nah. I didn’t. But thanks for he concern.
Myke C-Town this aint chief. skeletons is produced by tame impala if you know anything about him hes productions supposed to feel like a wave washing over you. So ur criticisms are “dry”
midnight stvr Nothing you just said means anything. I still don't like it. So get over it, man. We don't share a brain and you'd be a much better person for realizing this.
😂😂😂 facts.
Imagine not liking tame impala
Tear da club up, tear da club up!!!!
beezy430 BITCH (Sheck Wes voice) !!!
i had the same opinion as u and myke, i fell asleep on this album. i think rodeo was better
I thought it was fuck the club up.
beezy listening to the editing clean version
@@BenjerminGaye that's the remix with the hot boyz so there's 2 versions
That shirt is dope asf.
Just for some clarification on the issue of the transgender woman. She was among the models invited to the shoot, and simply just didn’t make the final cut. She wasn’t removed because of who she is, she just wasn’t on the photo that was chosen for the cover. Not really a story there, just people drumming up drama for no reason
Yeah, I kinda figured.
And you know he can't be transphobic, cuz his father in law is trans ......people don't use context these days and that's crazy
His father in law being trans doesn't mean he can't be transphobic. Just like someone's daughter dating a black guy doesn't mean they can't be racist. That being said...I've seen nothing to say he's transphobic so I'm going with him not being.
You didn’t think AstroThunder was distinct compared to the other tracks?
Myke you are a big inspiration and you always get me into exciting music. Saludos from Argentina!
Coffee Bean is amazing
"break the monotony from what sounded like the same beat over and over again" lol
bro you're wilding
Even tho i think this album is really good, great review myke
Love the content you guys put out Myke! Keep up the hard work
Myke, have you listened to beauty and the beat by Edan? If you have, what are your thoughts?
What are some songs that have the beat like carousel, with the yelling?
Myke, what do you think of Chris Brown Artist wise? Would like to know your opinion...
Wow didn't expect this. I really loved this album Travi$ came through like he did on Rodeo imo. A more psychedelic to his formula. NO BYSTANDERS, SICKO MODE, STOP TRYING TO BE GOD, SKELETONS, COFFEE BEAN and WAKE UP were some of my favorites. IMO he's taking Rocky's place for making unique pop rap with a psychedelic/creative aesthetic.
People really slept on testing 😔
Billy Overton Coming from a Rocky Stan who listened to it numerous times. The shit was trash son not sorry. If you enjoyed it cool, but it could've used a couple more years on the oven for refinement.
Nope.
Testing is much more unique/creative and psychedelic then astroworld, easily the most unique rap album of the year, rockys style/visuals are much more complex than travis's too, but I do agree he's coming for that spot against rocky, astroworld was hella underwhelming tho
@@ilovecody7514 I think you'll change ur tune in a few years but w/e.
I thought I liked this album, then I realized I was just listening to Sicko Mode over and over again and nothing else.
TRAVIS SCOTT - ASTROWORLD w/ DEHH REVIEW: ruclips.net/p/PLBREYXCBgn81PyhVcFRnVmTvHByx_XkbB&disable_polymer=true
I think Travis was hungry, and made progressive strides, throughout his mixtape phase and then after rodeo he fell into a kind of meandering complacency. Maybe it’s the price of ‘making it’ though I’m a fan for sure
Facts
100% true
Never thought I’d ever see a video of Travis Scott saying his own album was ass (I’m just playing I’ve seen all those travis reviews love you man) 😂
Myke you have notes you look at or something? I kept seeing you look down
I'm amazed. Even Myke knows three 6 mafia deserves the love. That's all I needed to see. Review over. Great job as always Myke.
I think how you physically described AstroWorld is good.Floating around in a sleep cycle is what makes this psychedelic trip connect with people, imo.
I really like this album. His music didn't do anything for me at first but as I've given his music more chances, I've been really enjoying his music. I haven't heard his stuff before the Rodeo album yet except for a song or two but I will sometime. Sorry that the album didn't do much for you but thanks for reviewing the album. Keep up the good work :)
Did this man just say James Blake stole the whole album 😭 Cmon Mykeeeeeee
Where can I hear that vocal sample in another song? From carousel.
I dont get how you couldn't like Stargazing. It hooks me in and makes me want to listen to the whole album
Myke, do you mind reviewing CARE FOR ME by Saba? I was really waiting to see how you received that album. The album was also reviewed without you, and I was really hoping you would sit with the album and catch all of the little nuances in the sound and the story that Saba is painting.
Lol Myke’s a fool for the jabs at Rod at the end. That shit was funny.
Can I get some album recommendations for grieves, cunning linguists and murs.
Thanks for the review Mike
Before I watch this thank you Myke for taking the time out of your day to do this. You didn't have to go the extra mile and for that I applaud you 👍🏾
Would you be willing to review saint jhn collection one mixtape . It’s a dope project and is Very underated.
Can you review "Not Like Us" by 3TIME? Drops tomorrow!
what album are u talking ab???
It’s crazy hearing you say you don’t like Travis’ sound when he has this dark, punk aesthetic that I’d assume you rock with. A lot of his best sounding songs were features and outside of his projects.
This album was a real slowburner for me. I kinda had the same feelings as you did at first but as I kept listening it became really great! Just give it a little time
Myke the Kid C Town! And it's been a while 🎶
If u ever have time, can u review amerikkkan kkkoruption by capital steez
Cool review!
That new KA (Hermit and the Recluse) is dope as fuck. Highly recommended if you haven't heard it yet!
ouch, I thought he'd like this a little more, I still liked it though
Tiny t-shirt gang! Thank you based god
Tiny pants too. Task Force here to protect at all cost. Tybg
You’re right, Myke
wavy review thanks for the honest review people just say its really good just coz it sold very good.
Could you do a solo review for Saba - CARE FOR ME please 🙏🙏🙏
Can you review M.I.A. - Arular album, it’s considered one of the best hiphop albums of the 2000s , I would love to hear your take on it , it’s really experimental!
Couldn't agree more with the James Blake love
Legitimate question. Is there an album that is predominately trap which has a compelling theme or arch that makes the whole album an enjoyable and compelling listen? It seems like the trap genre is meant to be fodder for playists, radio, or clubs and the album experience always falls flat.
MYKE! please review the Black Thought & 9th Wonder's new EP!!!
You need to turn up the brightness
I respect your opinion and great video
Not that it matters to you but the sample in Carousel was used in lieu of Big Tuck (the voice you hear at the beginning of the track). That's a big deal because he's a legendary Texas rapper. He used the Beastie Boys sample and quite possibly was the first time Scott had ever heard that sample being used. Also, when you examine deeper you realize that Travis Scott being from Houston used artists on this track from neighboring big cities (Big Tuck - Dallas and Frank Ocean - New Orleans).
As a native of Houston, this album resonates heavy for me because I caught all of the references.
Aye_Jones FKA Marvel_Jones Glad somebody caught that sample
Shot By Nolan alllllreadyyyy 🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾
lol is the 'lets find out' a varg reference?
COSMIC666 Ha! It wasn’t but that’s funny!
i alway enjoy hearing your opinion no matter if I disagree with most of it. but in Dead End Hip Hop you get to explain your thoughts to your friends and on your solo reviews it feels like your talkin' to a camera. you should try having someone behind the camera and explain your opinion to them. your energy is contagious when your around people but lower when you only interact with technology
Hey Myke any chance you'd be willing to react to "Care for Me" by Saba
captainahab405 Dead End reviewed it already
Dylan Connely He means he wants Myke to do a solo review on it since he was not there.
Ricardo Alba Shit my bad
Churches chicken biscuits are top tier
I also thought of the moby album cover when he said that! everyone else says its a moby dick reference, witch is Travis Scott's favorite book.
jay I don’t think so. The “jump” part leads me to think it’s about Moby. But who knows?
imo from a sonics perspective Rip Screw sounds nothing like Sicko Mode, which sounds nothing like Carousel, which sounds nothing like Stop Trying to be God, which sounds nothing like 5% Tint, etc etc. I'm surprised that this specific criticism came up a lot in this review and in the DEHH one as well (maybe it's because Travis himself has a similar sounding flow and/or cadence on some of these songs?). The thing that impressed me the most was how diverse it was and how well the features were used. Great album
After listening to this album multiple times I’ve realized that there’s only like 5 songs worth coming back to.
Bruh I respect this so much I agree with you on this Travis Scott hyped this album way 2 much he tried to make it like a rodeo but even that album is mediocre at best but still has great production which makes it likable at certain moments
I honestly was not and still am not a huge fan for his 2 previous albums before this one. But for whatever reason this one just clicked on the second listen. Sure his other albums had some great hits but this is the first time I actually enjoy almost the entire album. Glad to see hear your opinion though because I happen to agree with you on some parts, anyway great vid man!
Rico 210 Ortega Im surprised to see people like this album but not Rodeo. I love both albums but Rodeo is in a legendary tier of albums for me
Yo Myke, Sadistik just dropped a new album!!!
HOLY SHIT
Damn really wish myke could click with Travis’ music, I respect his opinion I could see how he wouldn’t fw it. ‘Cant say’ wavy as fuuck
I almost completely agree with this review and I’m 19 so I’m supposed to completely disagree with you. Your opinion and honesty is appreciated man 💯💯
Please review taboo by denzel curry
I personally like the album a lot but great review
I heard something totally different. I didn't like birds in the trap but this was great to me.
James Blake, Kid Cudi's humming, & the Harmonica are the best part of "Stop Tryna Be God"
Took me a few times to get through the whole thing but overall I like the album. Stop Trying To Be God, Skeletons (produced by Kevin Parker of Tame Impala 😉), and Coffee Bean (which reminds me of a MBDTF sounding version of Kanye’s ‘30 Hours’ with the vocoders and grainy sound) were highlights for me. But unfortunately there’s a couple tracks that felt really uninspired.
Rodeo remains my favourite Travis project still. It’s a trap masterpiece IMO.
KurVibes That Coffee Bean comparison was perfect
I guess Travis goes for a mood/vibe ,and that's just not exactly what I go to an album for.
NEW SUBSCRIBER!
yaaaaaaay
Myke if you have time, it would be dope to have you review Care For Me by Saba. It’ll be cool to see what you think of it. You’ll probably love it
Haris Ahmadzi Dead End reviewed it already
Dylan Connely He knows that, but he would like to hear Myke’s review on it since he was not there during the shoot.
Myke needs a new mic ! Great video as always though!
I get ASAP Rocky vibes whenever I listen Travis Scott especially on this album. While I enjoyed this album, I think that ASAP Rocky does the "creative mess" sound better. But Rodeo will always be an amazing album to me.
TheLuiscelaya agreed! I always thought Travis was biting A$AP Rocky, but he doesn’t stick the landing quite as well
That windows movie maker editing tho
I feel like Myke gonna love Stop Trying To Be God
How are we not gonna say that his flow on sicko mode isn’t the smoothest thing ever
My favorite tracks are Stargazing (100% cuz of that beat switch, that beat is ridiculous), Carousel, No Bystanders, Astrothunder (Thundercat on bass makes that track for me), Stop Trying to Be God, and Coffee Bean. Sicko Mode is only good during the first beat switch with only Travis on it. So if you count Sicko Mode, I only like 7 out of 17 tracks on this album.
I feel like if Travis trimmed the fat and made a lot of the latter half of the album less samey sounding and stuck to the theme park theme this could have been his best album to date..but he still hasn't topped Rodeo imo.
I feel you on something about Travis's music just not working for you. No matter what I can't get into anything he puts out. For me it just feels flat.
Honestly I never liked Travis Scott until I listened to Rodeo. Birds in the trap was okay, Astroworld felt like a return to the Rodeo sound.
He says whats on his mind
Did you know that "Ohh, Ohh, Ohh, Ohh" line was sampled from "The New Style" by the Beastie Boys?
Jesuren Quintana Nope. Still think it’s played out tho.
You sure you listened to the right album?
I'm kinda curious to know what album Myke accidentally listened to instead of Astro World.
I've been waiting on another backpack classic
He listened to Denzel curry tabboo. He said in another comment
This is why I'm amazed when people say Travis is on the same playing field as Kanye as a producer... Kanye has evolved and can adapt as a producer, Travis for the most part has one style and it hasn't really changed since he came out in 2011. Kanye can weave between Hip Hop, pop, soul, R&B, alternative and even club production. Travis is a one trick pony I'm sorry.
You must havent been listening to his music travis has used edm pop r&b rock what do you mean one trick pony
Jacob Miller gotta agree it can blend a little bit for me but there’s distinct use of other genres in his production especially of rodeo
What other hip hop artist has The 1975 on a song or Tame Impala? Or Stevie Wonder?
You’re dumb. Travis is the most diverse rapper in history. Listen to sky fall, whole lotta lovin, sky fall. He makes rock , edm and etc type of music. Listen to his discography before looking dumb lol
MTWENTY Even though he might not be the best rapper, he’s definitely a very good composer in my opinion. You don’t have to agree with me, but he definitely scored a lot of points on composition on this album. He’s the glue.
To be fair the stereo panning on the "OOOH!" on Carousel makes it sound like it's going around your headphones like a Carousel, I thought that was pretty creative
:/
@@mykectown LOL to each his own
Maybe could you do a solo review of Denzel Curry TABOO?
Emanzboss14 DEHH are doing it
@@jackd9259 did they confirm it? Where'd you hear that?
Emanzboss14 Myke said in a comment that they’re doing it next. He thought they were doing Denzel first that’s why he was listening to it.
@@jackd9259 ahhhh sweet! Thank you.
Skeletons is about the only track that felt polished to me. Loved that song and RIP Screw
SABA-Care for me please.
When you create two beats and start a song with one and end with the other....is this a beat switch? Why are we acting like this is something interesting??
It’s fine if you don’t like it. That’s why I’m here.
But u love testing?
Yeah. And?
Myke C-Town you are fucking great i will say it again
Testing is better than this album my guy, real talk.
Myke C-Town sorry bro but testing was horrible and forgettable asf. He literally put out that album because he was contractually obligated to or else he’d just keep chasing his fashion dream. put that into perspective listening to it next time.
@@mykectown kind of feel like this is what testing should have been
I get insomnia. I'll check it out.
BRO James Blake's on the back part of Stop Trying to be God hella underrated. Legit all the reactions i've been watching people been skipping it. Thanks for recognizing it for me
Damn ..
PapaChampu Wrong album.
I know what he means. I felt the exact same. I did not like this album for weeks. Just recently I would randomly put this on as Im doing something(showering, washing my car or even just browsing on the internet). I didn’t think about it twice to put it on and it leaves me very conflicted on if i like this album or not
travis never doesn't disapoint.
RIP Screw >>>>
Fake Four! Love the shirt!
