You have a like Sir for this world class content. I made sock puppets and hosted a puppet show at birthday party for my friend’s young kid; but the children ridiculed my creations... I quickly recovered when I presented high quality ice cream cake, which caused the parents to smile as they put down their torches and pitchforks.
Excellent point about figuring out grip. That’s my current struggle, and I think it’s due to varying or incorrect instruction on the initial shooting fundamentals. I think a lot of basic pistol instructors focus so much on slow bullseye type shooting it can set people off course when speed becomes a factor.
Basically that with 3k-5k of GOOD dry fire reps minimum. Range time for me is almost exclusivy fundamentals so it's good I actually like practicing those. Grip, sights, trigger press, draw, recoil management, target transitions and reloads. You can do a LOT of good training with only 200 rounds and some dry fire each range trip, which is especially nice in times like this with ammo shortages.
Learning to present the pistol to the target, whether from draw or high ready, with economy of motion is my challenge. For whatever reason, I tend to lower my head slightly as I bring the pistol up to eye level -- a wasteful extra motion. Hey, good luck with the Beretta!
For newer shooters: when you are figuring out and committing that optimal angle for reloads to muscle memory, be sure to keep the 180 in mind. You don’t want to make your reload grip angle so steep toward your off-hand that it will cause safety issues when you are in a position other than squared up to the range. I’m a fairly casual competitor but have been shooting long enough to see this bite newer shooters a couple times.
I've had my LTT for awhile,I may send it off for the slide cut this winter and shoot carry optics next year......or get a new optic ready LTT. One of each......hmmm
I find the Coolfire is pretty good for this. Not as good as live fire, but in these times of No Primers you can get a lot of reps in without eating up your stash. And you can do short sessions over consecutive days without having to drive to the range, which I find more helpful than one long range session. Good tips here, thanks.
Cool to try new stuff. Switching platforms can be rough. Gotta be mentally tough enough to take a beating (or several) for some matches till you can sync up the new programing, and write over the old programing. And can ultimately be rewarding. May the force be with you!!
Covered the basics. On a more advanced note make sure you've figured out how to draw from surrender, hands on object, and unloaded starts (on belt, on table, etc....).
YT hates those kinds of videos - but my load is Gallant Bullet 125's at 1.125 OAL over 3.9 grains of Sport Pistol - with whatever primer I can find - that with a federal out of Glock 34 makes about 1075 FPS.
@ iamalemontree Just do it. Push out with your right arm and pull with your left. You will start to get the feel, and it will come together in a little time.
The heel of your support hand palm should be pretty far back and you should pull through your fingers - you end up pulling the gun forward with the traction of the grip face and your support hand palm. Guns that are too short front to back make this more of a challenge.
Hey humble just bought a G34 gen 4 I was waiting to upgrade the irons thinking of Dawson but not sure what height to get. Any help would be greatly appreciated
depends on which optic you're using. I'd send them an email or call them and they can hook you up - they can probably even recommend based on what bullet weight you are using.
So are you giving up on your glock 34? I'm still shooting production with my shadow 2 and optic with my 34. I was thinking about getting a Walther Q5 the steel framed one but that Beretta looks good
Excellent content once again, I use Cert Pistol training. Have you tried Cert Pistol with the software? - The movie recommendation if you choose to watch is - Little Man Big Man - Dustin Hoffman .
I use a SIRT - trained with it and the software while my range was shutdown Came 2nd in my first match back after the range opened - best placing ever I think if used improperly, it could create bad habits , but I grip it as if it’s going to recoil and observe the same safety rules as if it was loaded I think it’s a good tool and saves on ammo !
Before I say what I say. Please understand that I am not trying to troll you in anyway. On your draw, you are sweeping up to your eyes. Is this better than, the technique of the elevator ride and press out to target technic? Seriously not trying to troll just a question? Thank. I really do love your videos, especially the shadow 2 stuff. I just switched from Glock. Quickly learned about OAL in terms to reloads, had to re-learn my "make ready" sequence with DA, quickly learned high thumb "bob Vogel grip" for Glocks actually causes issues in a CZ, relearn reload procedures. Just so much.
Maybe an issue for a future video, or maybe it's already been studied to death and conclusively decided, but while the straight line is definitely the least movement to 100% extension, is it the fastest in terms of the least elapsed time until a bullet hole appears in the A zone? For example, if one's eyes can't pick up the sights until the very end of the straight line draw, then one has to wait 100% of the draw time before one can squeeze the trigger. If some other draw path gets the sights in front of one's eyes earlier, then one can pull the trigger earlier, even if not yet at 100% extension, and therefore the bullet hole might appear in the A zone more quickly. Just trying to learn from you, asking because you've obv put much more time and thought into this than most. Thanks!
@@speedrrracer this was my thought exactly. I am just literally some nobody but I have watched alot of videos on this topics and been through multiple shooting courses. It is always taught sights to eyes rather than eyes to sight approach.
@@samcshooting I learned the straight line approach as mentioned by THM above, but I have no idea if it's actually the optimal choice or not. Just wondering if anyone THM or perhaps others have already done a deep dive into this. If getting the sights to your eyes fastest was most important, then we'd all just draw straight up, right? Does the extension actually buy us some recoil management or something, or is it just a relic of old-school isosceles thinking?
How we draw with sights aligned, its more efficient and done right you should not have any wobble when the sight hit the target. Tactical Performance Center has alot of good videos on this.I took 2 classes from them....top notch training.
@@TheHumbleMarksman Good on you Sir! I love it how you aren't "stuck" on one particular pistol or manufacturer. I've never understood why some people are unwilling to try other pistols - conversely, why some can't accept that a particular pistol or manufacturer can actually have something better to offer than their narrow-minded opinion on their firearm of choice. This may be deemed as hurtful to some but I view it as those who are afraid/unwilling to go against the grain. Afraid of being seen as the "odd one out".

Let's all address the real question here: Where in the hell are you finding ammo and/or components to reload these days?! Personally, I'm having to put all my shooting ventures on hold because of the current shortage. 🙄
You'd be crazy to be looking for ammo / components these days. Slim pickings and 5 times the normal price. Should have stocked up during the salad years of the Trump administration.

I don’t count but yeah plenty of dryfire going on
Thanks for the tips... got a steel match tomorrow...shooting in the subconscious is the key... you, the gun and the target and no one else!
I like to think of it as me and the little glowy ball hoverig in front of my face.
Lots and lots of time just loading and reloading even dry firing love the info
Glad I saw this, for some reason I am not getting notified of videos from channels.

Yep, a lot of people get talked to by the RO at my range for doing a mag reload right in their face with the muzzle pointing the next bay
