- The first in a series on shooting better. In this video we discuss how to stabilize your wrist and develop a good grip for speed shooting - this should help you shoot faster and more accurately. The grip on a pistol is the foundation for both speed an accuracy. Managing recoil helps the gun recover faster - so we discuss locking out wrists so you recoil control will be the best it can be. Great grip overview - in your video on trigger control , it would be be cool to show how you can use your red dot in dry fire to isolate what happens to your POA when you break the trigger - I try to identify how much trigger finger , where to place it on the trigger face and how to modify my grip to ensure that the dot doesn’t jump on the break - and of course it’s slightly different for every pistol specifically striker fired ones
Maybe a video on your strong hand / weak hand grip and how you pass the gun to the weak hand quickly and safely in competition ? I know that I under train weak hand shooting and the various mechanics associated and have to force myself to do it , at longer distances my groupings can be less than impressive lol !

I do really agree of what he said about recoil management which I applied even my gun is upside down shooting at the target by holding it with my two fingers in LITO VALLES PSD.

Great demonstration on managing recoil and proper grip on pistol shooting as well as shock absorbing stance, knees bent a bit. Something to take for consideration, very effective. You have no idea how much I needed to see this… been fighting with grip inconsistency for a long time now. Finding ones best grip is one thing… consistently grabbing that best grip on each draw, at speed and after reloads or transitions is yet another challenge… then doing all of that consistently while having to put most of your focus on how to efficiently execute a stage… often the grip falls apart as the brain allocates so much focus on so many other things. I guess the M’s and GM’s have reached a point where the grip is so soaked into their muscle memory that they no longer need to allocate much mental focus on it. This is a very humbling sport indeed! 🙏🏼
Definatly one of the best explain videos of pistol grip...takes 1000's of rds to even get a handle on the correct grip let alone being good at pistol shooting...everyone should get a 22lr pistol in my opinion to get reps down cheap

Last night, I was working on my stance, aim and grip. I noticed how my quads were engaged and wondered if I was standing wrong. I watch this video and feel much better about my stance grip. Trigger finger placement is what I need to work on also. Can't wait to get to the range to apply what was taught in this video.

Thanks a ton for this video. I've been struggling with a low and left issue for ages and this video made me realize my hand positions were off by just a bit on my CZ75. Just got back from my first range trip with the new grip and my issues are pretty much completely gone, I'm shooting right where I'm aiming and my groups were quite decent too. It even made a pair of aftermarket flat grips, which I'd tried previously but hadn't gotten along with, suddenly start making sense as well!

This is phenomenal content. Very well explained for something that is very difficult to convey in teaching shooting.
Really glad you spent some time discussing elbow position. When I was first learning, I saw a lot of comp shooters externally rotate at their shoulder (elbows low, aimed toward the ground), so I tried the same. I eventually figured out that keeping my elbows high and a little wider worked better, but I still wonder about the guys who do it differently.
As a first gun owner (Canik TP9 Elite SF) this video was very helpful. Thanks for all the info. Subbed.

Great tips man! When I learned to shoot not long ago the instructor didn't say anything about elbows. I saw a video about bowing then out a few month ago and it helped me shoot better no joke! I had great accuracy but shooting fast was a challenge until I changed my stance with the elbows and what you spoke about in this video. I think a lot of people will benefit from these tips.

You're exactly correct to say that this video is very helpful for beginners. To know how to manage the recoil, is one of the very essential to know for every shooter. To prove it right, with humility I'm inviting you to visit LITO VALLES PSD, where I performed some shooting drills like: Shooting a toothpick with my .45 cal. pistol holding it with my two fingers as well as shooting targets at a distance of 20-35 yards by holding the upside down gun with my two fingers only. It's bec. I know how to manage the recoil of my gun. That's why I absolutely agree with you this video is so helpful to both shooters in any level.

I was just working on something similar last week, practicing DA/SA bursts of fire as in a combat/terror scenario when you have to put down multiple rounds fast.

Check out Milspec_Mojo's channel. The collaboration that he did with Garand Thumb was a great video on controlling recoil and rate of fire. Also he demonstrates his techniques with a gun without a compensator. To me that is far more useful since none of my carry guns are compensated.

The best grip video by far. Some help on strong hand thumb hitting/riding the slide lock lever. I notice one view your strong hand thumb waspulled back a bit. Great content and very credible.
