Neat little way of examining the effects in IDPA. I will say a friend just bought a P365 macro with the built-in comp, I put the slide/ upper on my EDC 365XL lower and I could immediately notice the irons returned to zero faster than before. Never shot a comp’d gun before that.

Good stuff. Thanks. Oh, and I completely agree that triggers matter less the more you shoot, at least with everything other than bullseye matches. I, too, obsessed over triggers when I first started out with my CZs. Not so much anymore. I may smooth out a gritty pull with some polishing but even that's just because a gritty feel annoys me, not because it'd have much, if any, impact on my scores. I'm way more concerned about the ergonomics and handling of a gun now, triggers are no longer my over riding concern.

@TheHumbleMarksman I've been following your channel from the beginning and I've never thought of you as a shill. You are one of the very few gun related content makers that I actually trust with providing real information. I sincerely appreciate the time, effort and expense you put into your content. At one point I worked through all the poly guns while carrying Glocks. I determined I just preferred to stick with Glocks and other than keeping my P10F, I got rid of everything else. This was before Sig came out with the better 320 lowers. I also went through the Glock trigger circus. After going to a red dot years ago I realized the trigger made no difference to me. The dot taught me sooo much. My only mods on my Glocks now are a reduced power safety plunger spring, an Overwatch Precision NP3'd dot connector, and a light polish.

Holy smokes you packed so much good information in here!
PS. The people who talk smack about competitive shooters, and getting kilt in the streets need to watch a specific video. There's a video of a competitive shooter in Brazil essentially going full John Wick on some hoodlums. His accuracy, speed, ability to transition targets...I assume they come from the time he spent training. Could be wrong, but it sure as heck looked like all those reps for competition paid off.

I’ve thought about buying a ported barrel for my G34. Previously undecided , I think your data my persuade me.
    Any way…
During the entire intro, I couldn’t help but think of Mr. Levy and his Glock 17. The dude is an animal with it! He is a case study on how shooting well; a “rounded 2x4” with poor trigger ergonomics, is something that is possible with time and effort.
I believe that the Staccato XC just barely fits into the CO/ESP box. If it doesn’t it’s really really close and could be modified to do so.. if one doesn’t mind “massaging” a $4300 gun😢😢.

I shoot thumbs forward as I learned from good shooters like you, I've heard all kinds of things for example my instructor told me when I first started gripping my XdM Elite 4.5" OSP I would use the trigger guard as a push/ pull like method kinda like that of a horizontal gas pedal....,😂 But the instructor didn't approve as his argument was I'd start pulling my shots to the left by strong arming occasionally. So ever since then it's thumbs forward and now I have a WML and looking at a Arms Republic compensator. I bought the Griffin arrangement one for $60 but I don't really like it's performance so I'm trying something else.

I bought a Timney Alpha Trigger for my Glock 19. Then I upgraded it with the Johnny Glock combat kit. It did "feel" nice but created nothing but problems. So much so that I realized I could no longer carry the gun and trust my life with it. And since Im one of those rare people that likes to carry every single handgun I own, whether big or small, this really bothered me.
Having a "nice" trigger reminds me of someone who sucks at golf buying a $3,000 set of golf clubs. That person will not play those clubs any better than they would play a 20 year old set cobbled together from various garage sales. It takes a tremendous amount of experience and skill until the equipment you are wielding can begin to factor into improving your results.
Once I realized this I swapped back to an OEM Glock trigger. Wish I had spent the $400 in trigger upgrades on something else.

Hand raised. I thought Humble’s trigger comment was off the mark. It’s hard to shoot well with some shit Glock trigger.

@@zen-Tii I don’t think he’s far off the mark tbh. I have a p365 with a trigger I absolute hate. The triggers in the Sig striker fired lineup just don’t do it for me. But every now and then when I take it and shoot and IDPA match with it, I don’t even notice how much I don’t like the trigger.
That being said, I like that my main CO gun has a really nice trigger. I get all giddy when I start my dry fire session and that makes it more fun.

Yeah, that comment hurt me in the feels, but it's true. With the proper solid grip, upgraded triggers aren't really necessary. As you can tell, I don't have a proper grip. 😂

Cool video. Though the topic is comps, I really liked the section discussing what matters and what doesn’t to the performance of a handgun. I do question whether cleanliness of the wall is more than important than you give it credit for - for the average shooter - because the characteristics of how a trigger breaks affects trigger control and followthrough, does it not?
I also thought it was interesting that you think you got a little lax with your fundamentals when shooting the comp’d guns, but that the comp’d guns took someone with perhaps weaker fundamentals and improved his results. I’m not sure that’s a good thing for someone without a threshold level of training and experience. Is it a concern in your mind that comps encourage development of bad habits?

@the humble marksman for jus mainly fun but also some competition here n there and speed, would i be better off going with a tanfoglio witness clone or a 2011 style pistol?? As in which one is faster or better?? Also with 2011 are commanders or govt length guns better for adding a comp to?? Ive seen several ppl on RUclips sayin that commander guns are actually some how faster something about the slide cycling faster?? Im thinking of jus going with the tanfoglio clone since i already have one 2011 style pistol that i coild compare to and then decide which platform i wanna put real money in to and customize to the way i want it although im sure theres not many options for threaded barrels and comps for that gun but ill jus have to see i found a list on a forjm of all the possible upgrades for the gun and its only like $700-$800 so its not like ill be out a ton if i dont like it or it turns out to be a crap gun even tho all the reviews so far have been good theres some negatives like the trigger sucks but that can be remedied, any help is greatly appreciated man!!!

You mentioned S&B and 115s. I’ve been buying the 124s. Just bought an XC but that’s all I’ve shot though it’s. Are those pretty good rounds for comped pistols ?

Interesting I don’t really shoot competition I just bought I’m not just when it came out the radiant arms compensator and I put it on my Glock 19 I can say I did see a difference, not tremendous difference, but there was a difference getting back on the site was quicker … where are the Comp did shine was shooting plusP ammo . Which I was not surprised about it all. It was a dramatic difference shooting with and without with plus P. All that being said I do own a few 44 magnums both Smith and Wesson one is a 6 inch and the other one is the 4 inch comp . There I have to say the compensator really helps out with recoil . That being said though anyone that’s into shooting and shoots 44 nose you do not get the same velocity out of a 4 inch to get the maximum for velocity of a 44 mag do you need at least 6 inch barrel ..
so I guess from my perspective, at least a comp is a good thing, but in no way a necessary thing .
Thanks for the video great video for sure

13:50 Instead of working up a load that puts minimal gas out the muzzle, what if we could put a rubber wipe on the end of the comp, like rubber wipes found in older suppressors, to keep the gas from escaping out the muzzle. I think that would be an interesting thing to test

I qualified using an EAA/Tanfoglio Witness 45 with an integrated compensator, in the police academy in 2001. I don't know if the compensator helped or not, because my only experience with pistols prior to that was annual qualifying in the Marine Corps with (for the first year) a Colt 1911, and then the M9 Barretta after that...and obviously neither had a compensator. At the end of the day I shot 299 out of a possible 300 with that pistol. I haven't had a compensated pistol again, since then.

So you really like the Shadow Systems. I was interested in it but, saw videos that said they were having malfunctions with theirs. It is the Navy Seal guy from Georgia that has long hair. Can't remember the channel name. I thought it was strange that it wouldn't be reliable because it is just a Glock with improved ergos.

@TheHumbleMarksman Well right. I guess at the end of the day my thought. As a none competition shooter, I would want what makes me go faster if accuracy doesn't suffer. I guess there is acceptions, price being one. But to Quote Eleanor Roosevelt, It is all about SPEED.

@FishFind3000 That maybe or don't they supply Pmags with their gun? Now I haven't had issues with Pmag Glock style mags but, don't think they are as reliable if dirty etc.
