    Hey Dave, I've been studying tattooing for a long ass time, I understand completely every part of a tattoo needle (diameter, number of needles, shader/liner/mag) the only thing I don't understand is how you know when to use what tapers. I would really appreciate if you did a video on just tapers.
    Thank you for teaching me so much, I've loved learning from you, you make things so easy to understand!

    • @techne9992
      @techne9992 3 года назад +1

      Hey. Man, tapers determine the dot size. The long tapers slip into the skin and leave a smaller dot. The medium tapers punch through causing a larger dot. So long taper is good for smooth shading. Less trauma, more passes, smooth. Medium taper more trauma, but more effiencient for color packing. Tapers control how the needle enters the skin. Dot size

    I have a recommendation for shading without an RS, use the liner upside-down. What makes a liner so non-conforming is the auxiliary needle that acts as an edge that generally delivers the cutting foundation for the skin to conform to the other needle-press. This helped instill steady-handedness and attention to drag when it came down to lining with a needle that does not manufacturively conform to the angle of my left-handedness-of-choice. :) sorry if this opens pandora's box but I'm swinging on Dragonhawk's rotary-tail here lol

    I love your videos! They are not too long but gets straight to the point and very clear! I just started tattooing and practiced a little bit on fake skin but it feels terrible. I mean it's basically silicone, rubbery so I am pretty sure it's far from skin texture. I am so ready to tattoo myself (my leg) just to practice on REAL skin hahaha
    I do have both sleeves and full back done so I am not scared. I just don't know what design I should do lol

    Hey @Art-Something - thank you so much for this video, this is exactly what I think everyone learning Tattooing gets stuck at - and there's only so many ways you can explain angles and weight etc... Don't know if you remember I commented before, but this is just the sort of thing I was mentioning would be handy, and you'll absolutely nailed it! One thing would of been helpful to explain the differences in Taper? I've been told that a longer taper will hold more ink so you don't have to dip it as often, but that makes it more likely to blow out (? think that's the right term is it?!), so using a smaller taper with less ink can be easier to do finer work perhaps, but requires more consideration of how often and how much to dip? I love how you've got your left arm with your practice work too - I've just gotten that started myself haha!

    • @ArtSomething
      @ArtSomething  4 года назад +2

      Thank you very much Haydeez I really appreciate that!! 👍👍 And great point, I will have to make another video down the road explaining what each taper is best for. Thanks again Haydeez for the support!! 🤘🤘

      @@ArtSomething Thanks is all to you brother! Following your channel get started and chatting with you here and there in the comments - makes me realise why a lot of people like twitch streamers and stuff, you're on the level mate! I love some of your charcoal work btw, I love working in charcoal and pastell! The other day i did a couple of pieces with some cheap rotaries I've bought, and a friend who's an artist has a nice Coil Liner and a Hybrid cartridge machine she's going to sell me once the lockdown is over so I've taken the plunge now from stick and poke, to machine. Been rewatching your videos and the things you've explained so far really gave me the confidence just to get stuck in. Obviously the bits I've done on myself so far are janky 😅 but they're my Jank, and I can live with mistakes made learning something, and fixing them is another learning curve so all bless! I'd love to show you a pic, shame can't comment photos on here!
