    I did my first "self" tattoo last night. Came out well. First time on real skin. Used your video series to do a lot of the prep work, fake skins practice, lining, shading, gray wash, etc. Still working locally with shops trying to establish an apprenticeship. Continuing to draw, paint, pen and ink stuff, work on flash, practicing with my light board for stencils etc. Keep up the great channel. appreciate it.

    I just have to say BRAVO man.... I've been doing tattoos for almost 20 years been to acouple hundred conventions and after watching this video you by far are now one of my favorite artists. Your technique using that mag and the skill that you have laying in the greys and shading giving it depth was top notch and the way the buildings came together in the backround was just phenomenal, I had no idea it was going to look like judging from the stencil. Absolutely beautiful keep up the work bro and don't ever stop you have and eye that only acouple in the world EVER had. your are destined for greatness...

    I tattooed my leg a few years ago. I can confirm that your leg/hip/ass will hurt more than the tattoo. Take breaks and stand up to let the blood flow again. Took me a few weeks to get feeling back to normal. No joke!

    • @ArtSomething
      @ArtSomething  4 года назад +3

      You said it perfectly !!! Cause the pain of the position really does hurt more then the tattoo and yep it takes a couple of weeks to get the leg feeling normal again. Its for that reason I am slow to get back at it and finish it up lol!

    Just stumbled upon your channel a couple of days ago and I love what you're doing. I've done a few stick and pokes on myself and I ordered a machine yesterday to take myself to the next level. So many tattoo artists online are honestly kind of pretentious in that they refuse to help newbies. Thank you for putting up this resource for us just starting out, you're saving us from making a lot of mistakes that wouldn't only leave us or other people with some bad ink but can also be dangerous with infection and cross contamination. I honestly don't ever see myself making a career as a tattoo artist just because my artistic talent isn't really there, but I think it'll be a fun hobby to design and execute my own tats for stuff that's simple enough to not need a professional, plus it's a hell of a lot cheaper than paying a shop minimum every time I want something small lol

    Just to clarify, because I don't think you covered this (maybe I missed it).
    Running the mag sideways means rotating the machine so that you are using the corner of the needle, not moving the needle side to side. That can really tear up the skin and cause some nasty scaring.

    again, best educational tattoo channel ive found by far. The thought crossed my mind when you used the magnum as a liner, do people ever use magnums(not curved) the same way you would use a wide nib or broad marker to do black-letter calligraphy(the kind where u hold it at 45 and use that angle to change the thickness of your lines)? it always seemed like the ideal solution to me, but I have only seen people line and fill stuff like that.

    I just did my own calf last night, I now know that feeling……LOL…..staying in the position was worse than the tattoo itself…..Mine wrapped toward the back which was quite difficult to twist into a position to get the right angle to get it right. Wanted to color it in but couldn’t stay in that position any longer, did the black work and some color accents, will fill in color another time…
    BTW - great videos, learning so much great info and lessons here…keep them coming!

    I’ve done my first tattoo on my thigh, it turned out GREAT! Big Lego dinosaur with beautiful line work! Healed up beautifully! Love it!
    I’m officially wanting to fill in a space on my non dominant upper inner arm. My only reservation about tattooing my own arm is the stretching of the skin. Every video I’ve watched of people tattooing their own arm aren’t stretching the skin. I’ve read about people using tape? Not sure how effective that would be… Any tips on this? Have you tattooed your own arm? I suppose if I can’t get a comfortable and firm hold on it I’ll have to have someone else do it cause there’s no way I feel comfortable enough to tattoo on Unstretched skin. Just doing some research before I make my decision. Thanks!

    Your a magician when it comes to using that mag as a liner ! Been trying that technique over and over since I seen how well you use it . Your dead right about your legs and hip being more sore than the tattoo ! Jesus Christ I think I’m going to be walking around like hunchback of Notre Dame before I get done with my legs or the hang of it to tattoo other people 😂 🧑🏼‍🦽 as always man your videos are the best , all of us out here appreciate the videos more than ya know ! Still think if you shaved you’d be a mortal tattoo artist like the rest of us 💪🏼😂 I keep trying to comment when your live to harass ya lol but somehow miss it every time . THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE ALSO 💪🏼 Keep rocking brother Keep playing those good tunes too .
