    I was a tattoo artist for 10 years but in 2012 I went back to school and got into software engineering, still doing a tattoo here and there on family or friends.
    I need some extra cash after a recent divorce so part time firing the machine back up,
    My kit is old and needles now expired so am re-upping my stock and found all sorts of terminology I hadn't heard before, plus wanted to see what guys are doing nowadays.
    Not as much has changed as I thought but still I learned quite a bit here.

    I self taught tattooist learned from practicing on my self never really seen videos like this never been in a studio. Although on little quiz at the end was glad to know your selection of needles were very similar to my style minus the script where I would have used 03, 07 and the 09 rl mainly just because that is what worked for me over the years awesome man video was dope.
    I took a long break from tatto when went back to graduate software development which was career change but since graduation and find jobs are not as available as was once made out I returning to my tattooing because I was good at my tattooing and really just wanted a career change. Tho with that not working out and being left looking for work for so long now I have ultimately decided that I should have just continued my tattooing passion perhaps I should just went and done an art degree lol.

    On the 1st question I was thinking 1203 liner and the 1007 so glad to see I was somewhere close 😂 just got my equipment about a month ago and it’s been a learning curve but it helps a lot to think of it like painting. My problem I’ve been having is parts of lines fading and just being superficial rather than staying in the skin. Which I believe is a result of me not stretching the skin in those areas or moving too fast and too shallow. (Btw I only tattoo myself so the tats I’m referring to are my own, wouldn’t go putting my craziness onto somebody for life, at least not at my current level.)

      If you've found any let me know! I haven't even picked up a gun yet, I want to have as much information as I can handle before even beginning to try, and have the best headstart. Quizzes would be WONDERFUL

    Great video and very detailed demonstration! I have a question for you, which needle you think would be best to use for camouflaging stretch marks and would reach the dermis layer at the same time?
    Thank you!

      lusian welson for stretch marks personally I’d use a round shader as they don’t give a definite edge and have a more feathered look. Thanks for watching!

    Hey, on killer ink you have the option of your standard round liners, then you have "super tight", I guess you get a crisper line with the tight grouping but does the line come out noticeably thiner and are there any downsides

    • @JonoSmithTattoo
      @JonoSmithTattoo  Год назад

      Personally i don't like super tight liners as I think they restrict the ink flow.

    Great vid, one other thing to note could possibly be, bare with me I need to try and put this into words lol,with the thinner gauge needles ie bug pins, it may be worth noting that if you were wanting the line weight to be like a 5rl in a 12 gauge it’s possible you’d need to buy 7rl’s as the gauge is obviously thinner for the bug pins, hope you don’t mind me commenting.

    I have a question. Disposable tips have labels like 5ft or 7 rt for example. How do you match them with the needle? I've been trying to just guess, but sometimes i end up with a tip bigger than the needle and stuff like that 😅 thank you very much in advance!

    • @JonoSmithTattoo
      @JonoSmithTattoo  4 года назад +1

      Make sure not only the numbers match but also the configuration. For example a tip that states it’s a 7FT won’t accept a needle that’s a 7RL. Because FT means ‘flat’ and RL means ‘RL’.
