In this video, I cut a very popular padlock design; the disk lock.
These type of padlocks are suppose to be immune from the threat of bolt cutters because of how their design conceals most of the shackle. However, if someone examines the lock for weaknesses, like I have, then it is easier than you think to defeat a huge majority of padlocks on the market. Hardened shackles slow me down a little but I eventually get through them.
This lock was mounted exactly 5 feet and 5 inches in the air to eliminate any ground-leverage tactics described by many people.
I was taking my time not to bump into the camera with the bolt cutter handles but if I wanted to, I could have breached it in less than half the time. In my opinion, I would recommend a more substantial padlock for locking up high priced valuables. Now, for a basic entryway gate or shed, this would suffice.

The best way to secure something valuable is to use shackle guards which will increase the diameter of the lock as well as hide the shackle from attacks like these.
Employing these security measures as well as installing alarm systems will provide the necessary security layers to help keep your valuables yours.

Yeah, I brought them, couldn't get the on the lock. The apparatus it's on won't allow it. Had to buy a drill & kill it hat way...

Not realistic. the frame its locked to bent and gave you a working area. Try a semi trailer or maybe a chain link fence handle

I lost the keys the disc lock at my storage. They're telling me a bolt cutter will not work. They said there's a certain way to cut them off & they want to charge me $45.

What was the actual type / brand / duty of Bolt Cutter? Because I have to cut that actual kind of lock off my shed...
They're 42 inch bolt cutters that I bought from Harbor Freight Tools. They cost about 30-$40. You can find them on Amazon also. I believe the rated cut capacity is 1/2 mild steel, but I have been able to cut hardened shackles on padlocks up to 7/16" diameter. They're not Irwin or some other professional grade cutter, but any cheap Chinese made cutter should do the trick👍

It's just some big 42 inch cutters I bought from Harbor Freight. They're inexpensive Chinese made cutters, at the time, I paid 36 bucks for them.

Ummm, how many people have a lock that hangs that far from whatever it's locking? The disk lock I lost the keys to lays flush against the door, which your video doesn't cover. Thanks anyways, I guess.
+Amaya Hikari If it's on the ground then it's even easier. You have more leverage at lower areas that you do in the air. Kind of how it's harder to pick up a box that's at head level than it is if the box were at waist level.
No, I'm pretty sure I said "flush against the DOOR", not the ground ... It's about eye-level for me since there's a step up from the ground to the door.

That's for sure! Some are better than others but when it comes to Masterlock, I wouldn't even waste my time.

I'm trying to break locks the old owner left all over the back yard. There are legit reasons for this.

,any lock could be cut with bolt cutters, the thing is some locks are harder to cut than others, not all locks are made equal.
