    If you just cut all of the way through the metal past the hasp the lock will come right off without having to even cut the hasp super easy he made this A LOT HARDER

    I had a similar situation now, 6 years later. I decided it was cheaper and easier and a LOT faster to just cut the latch. Replacement for the latch is going to be about $5 and the lock is $18. It took about 30 seconds to cut the latch. Each situation is a little different, but your video made it easy for me to choose which item to cut. Thanks!

      I made this just to show cutting that style lock can be done with a dremel. On a shed definitely easier to take the latch off or cut it. I cut these locks several times a month on storage units. Damaging the latch isn’t an option. I use a 20v angle grinder though

      Well, I don't think you can take those off with a screwdriver, but that's also just a less helpful video. My last storage unit had two bolts that you could remove with a wrench and two that had round domes that you wouldn't be able to get any purchase on with a wrench or a screwdriver. I assume most storage places don't have hasps you can just remove with a screwdriver.

To get past this specific lock... Ignore the pad lock and cutting tool, simple flat head screwdriver with some elbow grease would romve the brace retaining the bolt on the door (left side)

    • @CFitz
      @CFitz 10 месяцев назад

      I prefer channel lock pliers. If I need to adjust the grip or angle of the tool, or the lock in relation to the storage unit hasp, it is much easier to do with channel locks than with vise grips, where I have to unclamp it, adjust, then reclamp it to continue cutting, notwithstanding that the lock will also get extremely hot. I also cut from both sides. I normally cut about 3 of these off each month, since they have very small keyways, are sometimes installed backwards, so yhey don't always pick easily. Also, a dust mask is a must.

    You do know there are screws that are accessible On the outside of your lock Mechanism or latch that you could just unscrew it just saying I mean I know you’re just demonstrating how to cut a lock but I was just thought I’d point out that you can just unscrew the screws and get into your storage or your shed or whatever that is because they’re on the outside not the inside. And you could just simply use the screwdriver or a wrench and unscrew those screws.
