When 1 cap isn't enough...
have 2. What other stats are confusing?~!
Can we get a video deep dive on thorns? Greatly appreciate all your videos
Hi @xarrio, I have a predicament. Been testing cqc and momentum damage as physical rouge for PvP interactions and all evidence suggest there is a physical damage cap. Now not sure if this is core, cutthroat and what now. But the damage between the two passives seem to be the same. And if there is a cap, what are the modifiers that go over the cap? I know edgemasters and elements aspect increases physical. On stat sheet core skill ranks also does this. But there seem to be a ceiling to this. Wondering if you can do a deep dive into this because I think it would be a pretty big find towards the non poison community.
Can you test vamp powers? Heard that Prey on the Weak does not work.
Prey on the weak is additive dmg instead of multiplicative dmg, so yes, it does not work correctly. Was discovered a couple weeks ago by Ava as well. I've tested this one as well and confirmed it. Haven't heard anything wrong with the others.@@MrAngryfatkid
@@Xarrio ah ok. Thanks for the info. Is there a list of all the things not working as stated? Like envenom is multiplicative, when it says additive, etc.
I appreciate that people do this research and put it out for free. I hope everyone realizes that figuring out these mechanics often takes a ton of time, and we are lucky to have players who are willing to share it.
I have 2 concurrent feelings with this:
1 - I appreciate the effort people put behind figuring these things out and how to communicate that clearly
2 - I find it awful that absolutely nowhere in the game there's indication of hidden caps + how precarious the details tab actually is when testing stuff in the fighting dummy (let's keep existent bugs out in the name of simplicity)
Thank you. 2 minutes into a video and I realize I don't need the Flurry CP anymore. This changes everything and I can further improve.
Big plays, glad it helped.
Xarrio with the important stuff once again! Even if other players made this discovery and not you, as you stated, it is very nice for you to talk about these things. And thats what made me first subscribe to your channel, your content on in-game mechanics that are not very clear to understand fully.
I made a frenzy attack speed barb on the begining of the season but switched to HOTA. One of the things that made me switch was exactly the lack of understanding on the attack speed mechanic. Turns out the 'bucket/cap 1' on barb is the most difficult by far to reach 100%, specialy if you consider not using the new season mechanics.
Thanks for the great video
Ty for the info, very interesting. Idk why there's 2 buckets for attack speed, it make things confusing to build
Our favorite professor returns
Thanks for the credits given and for spreading the word! :) Imagine the pain realizing that as a Frenzy Barb, any other Cap 2 attackspeed is worthless once you equip battletrance. And the same goes for Cap 1 attackspeed once you have ravenous and moonrise as your vampiric powers. I'd really love those attackspeed 'buckets' to be uncapped and multiplicative to each other, it would go a long way to compensate for the lack of overpower in these basic attack centric builds.
Nice that you put a video out I tested all this in s1 for my arclash build and it was a fuxkong headache good stuff
You the real G for making these videos for the general public.
Oh, good - finally ... A video talking about an *actual* 'break point' (and not that B.S. where people were using the term to refer to ilevel). Of course, this stuff still just looks like the beginnings/basics ... These folks still need to figure out animation changes relative to IAS input.
Thanks! I've been looking for something like this since the start of season 2.
I think the Druid list is missing the Swooping Attacks spirit boon. What bucket does it go into? #1 would be superfluous, but #2 would make a difference. NM: saw it answered below. #1 bucket it is. At least we know for sure we can skip it this season! This does make Blood Howl more attractive.
Id like to know how to choose weapons: weapon dps vs certain dps stats like ranks to a skill, or like +50 dps vs +30% dmg to xxx.
Seems druid is missing Swooping Strikes from it's class tab. This has been game changing playing with Crone Staff druid.
Maybe I missed it, it looks like Swooping Attacks Druid Spirit Boon is missing on the spreadsheet. And the Accelerating Aspect should 15-50, not 25-50. The Rapid Aspect should be listed 15-60, not 30-60.
Valid suggestions. In case it wasn't clear, this is the max value for each attack speed source based on the slot it can be. So Rapid is 30-60 (30 max on non 2h, 60 max on 2h). It is also a very, very temporary display of this while we are working on creating a larger theorycrafting compendium for the community.
Great share and cal tool! ❤
very well and interesting ty. Could you do some videos about damage and an other with armor/DR please? it would help us a lot!
I have a series on DR /armor that you may want to check out: ruclips.net/p/PL5GXa9pP7xwVf7V6K4Xh55s6nU8W7XBC9
Is there any particular thing about damage that you are thinking about?
yes i have already checked! but i dont know if you speak about how DR works independantly of armor/if there is a limit amount of it. For exemple if i take x damage and i have x armour and x DR vs lvl 100 mob how many damages will i receive? I dont know if its possible to calculate this but it would help. ty
@@Xarrio
did not seen the videos in fact i will have my answers there i think ^^'
Nice deep dive. Good explanation
With Ball Lightning build, using ravenous and AS on gloves is nearly enough for cap %80 + %15 = %95. I always think about accelarating aspect can not increase AS cap more than %5. With chain lightning enchanment, accelarating aspect can push this bonus to %120. And with Unstable Currents we can reach %145 AS bonus. This will be %245 AS, 2.45 attack per second. Am I understand right?
I'm going to use this to max the as on the andariels visage puncture build for sure, assuming it isnt already maxed
anyone figure out which bucket the new glyph from midwinter blight falls into?
would love to see a video about thorns
Isn’t the 200% solely because of ravenous and moonrise? Because in S1 it was 100% cap right?
thank you!
Good info. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Are these calculations still valid with Season 3? I ask because with the loss of Moonrise and Ravenous, we can no longer max out bucket #1. Thanks in advance.
Yep, still valid, and yes, also harder to max out now.
@@Xarrio I appreciate the prompt response! Checking your site daily for your new rogue build for this season. I've played RF rogue since day-1 and found your cold/poison build to be the most fun at the end of last season.
awesome!!
i have a question.
Rogue ATS testing sheet on Attack speed spreadsheet. In test9, it shows 8.9 F, and in test10, it shows 8.6 F, but the measurement seems to be 10 F. Does this mean there is a set minimum for generated F?
Try asking Ava in the diablo 4 discord. He is the one who did those tests and would be better suited to answer your Q.
Could you explain how attack speed actually applies in combat? Would I have to click faster than my attack speed to benefit from it? I can see how it works with channeled / continuous attacks, but "click attacks" would depend on me clicking faster than my attack/s right? Does holding the button in effectively run at attack speed then?
Yes holding the button down will go at max attack speed
Does AP affect other things than castspeed of let's say basic skills and core skills? Poison ticks? Bleeds?
So what number is showing in the character stats screen? Is it just one of the buckets? Or both combined?
I've tested adding Aspect of Ancient Flame to my sorc. And when it triggers the attack speed stat only goes up by a 5 percentage points. But the attack animation is a lot faster. So I'm not sure if that stat screen is accurate.
I asked Ava for you, here is what he said: "Both buckets should show up on char sheet if it is general attack speed. I have verified that this attack speed is correct with frame data, same with the barbs who did the testing
For basic attack etc, we had to do frame testing only since it doesn't show on the character sheet.
Not sure why it only went up 5% tho"
what about breakpoints ? reaching a certain amount of AS to trigger the faster in game skill animation is what really matter for AS so what are those breakpoints pls?
There are no breakpoints. They have specifically set it up not to work that way. You can never reach over the 200% from the buckets, regardless of what you do.
Thank you for this! How do you get 80% on Ravenous? Doesn't seem like i can get more than 67%
Having 200% movement speed will give you 80%.
I saw a screamheart video where he did some testing and found anything taking attack speed over the 100% cap only gives 50% of the value. I guess that is not true?
Nope
people who are saying diablo has no content to offer are wrong.. there is a lot of it if you wanna deal with all of those bugs and "features" haha
lol true, I feel like half of my time I spend just testing/figuring out how the game actually works.
Yep lots of content from figuring out wtf is going on when you think you’re doing something right it’s not always the case 😂
Cheers i think i get 100% from each your brain is bigger though. Awesome and thanks for showing.
dang only one i wanted to see is necro!
you sure there isnt 3 buckets? 1 for normal ias increase, 1 for over 100% with mostly skills/legendarys, and 1 for basic attack speed?
Yes. There is only 2.
Is Paragon board a possible 3rd bucket?
Paragon stuff is in the first cap/bucket.
so if i have 80% from ravenous and 20% from moonrise its useless to have AS on gloves or on elixir right?
Yep.
Playing as frenzy barb, I needed to see this. Might drop ravenous
Ava frommmmmm RATTTTT CLANNNNNNN
Attack speed doesn't speed up DoTs does it?
Nope.
What about swooping attack for druid boon?
Bucket 1
