Tempering and masterworking in this game is absolute garbage.. I dont even bother with it gambling to get the gear i want is not fun and makes me not wanna play the game half the time.
Not only does it not say this. It says it works exactly how you'd think it works (stacking multiplication), which it doesn't. It's either a massive miscommunication or a terribly coded math bug.
I was going to masterwork a full set of gear with life per second, I did the math and realized that if I crit 3 times on all 3 pieces I would still only have 2100 life per second, even with skulls and healing received % it would take nearly 30 seconds to fully heal my rogue. Life per second is worse than garbage.
Life on hit really falls off in wt3 and 4, you'd have to invest in it heavily and get a loooooot of hits to have any meaningful healing, personally it should be buffed a little@@edvaedan9161
I knew the 5% was always based on the original value of the roll. I also knew they got the greater affix number by the base roll + 50%. Didn't know about the greater affix upgrades not going off the total roll value. Good video!
This is HUGE. Thank you so much for doing all the work on this and sharing this golden info. It's definitely going to help me a ton with which stat to focus on for Masterworking.
So always before you even start masterworking a decent or strong item, you want to make sure to have the best possible base stats enchanted and tempered, even if it's getting super costly and/ or risking it getting bricked? For example I have very good stats on my golem necro, not perfect, but good. I pump basically potential millions of gold into it to get perfect base stat and my tempers gave me 2x my desired stuff, but with kinda midly rolls. 3 temper tries are left. What do you do now with this item? Going to risk a temper slot for a higher roll, before starting to masterwork? Or let it just be? Also, what happens then when you decide to risk the temper rolls later, after the masterworking to lets say rank 8? Will the temper roll show up the base stats of that roll( basically reseted) or is it going off of the already pushed numbers by the masterworking. This system is not rigged, it's bricked... plus made up by a genius devil xD
So at the end of it all, if I got this right, upgrading the 92%, we get a bonus 6% total at the end of it all? as in ((80*1.2*1.25)+40)+92=252 if you upgrade greater vs (92*1.2*1.25)+120=258.
nice vid! realized some numbers were off for GA but I just didn't have it in me to dive deeper in and find out the cause. made a formula just in case anyone's interested Base + Base [(0.05 (M-T)) + 0.25C] **GA - multiply final value by 1.5 M - masterwork level T - Tier of masterwork completed C - stat crit times edit: corrected one in comment this is only for pure numbers, for passives its another story of legendary vs uniques.
GJ on the equation. Though there is 1 correction needed. GA only applies to the base value. Not the final value. So your equation would just add .5 * Base Value if it is GA.
@@Xarrio ops my bad. Thanks for the feedback! Corrected version would be the same, just a tweak to GA multiplication Base (if GA x 1.5) + Base [(0.05 (M-T)) + 0.25C] M - masterwork level T - Tier of masterwork completed C - stat crit times
So master working is split into two seperate additive bonuses that multiply. The 1.05 multipliers add up to a 1.45 multiplier and the 1.25 add up to a 1.75 multiplier. You then multiply your base roll by 1.45, then 1.75 then add (base roll•1.5)? So Base Roll • 1.45 • 1.75 + (Base Roll •1.5) is our equation for finding perfect Masterwork stats?
I started developing my character after watching your video. I have now cleared pit 124 on the 9th day and am challenging pit 130. I will prove that your build is excellent by clearing up to pit 130.
Has this been tested on ga items like base stat or flat numbers as well? Just curious if its for % base stats only or is just all stats across the board work like this.. If so this is something that 100% needs changed and actually goes against the power scaleing of what the ga+mw for end game are supposed to accomplish
So really you want to focus on max rolls that are non greater affixes to upgrade instead of the lower rolls correct? Obviously GA will provide more overall stat, but for raw number upgrade better roll = more?
Maybe I fell asleep, but when you masterwork, you don't even get a chance to decide what is upgraded, do you? And for this example, I would think his weapon would have double % vulnerable damage.
I would ask it here in case someone knows the kinda related answer. I made firekuna sorc. In chest it have flame shield ranks GA and tempering in flame shield duration. It came in with 12/12 on flame shield duration. How could I know if that tempering is better to being rolled on the skill rank GA itself or the duration?
"The basics of percentages are usually introduced around ages 8-9, in the late Lower Elementary years." Diablo 4 players : No one would believe this mechanic works like this, those maths are so intricated :O
Curious now, what does it mean if a chest armor with GA max life has lower item power gets masterworked? Since it wont usually have the highest base roll of maxlife

I'm just going to assume the 92 wins, because that's the base value of the affix. While masterworking a Greater Affix (which is already boosted by 50%) is increasing a lower base value. Really helpful video thanks! Can you explain how it works with ranks to skills? I masterworked both a necklace with ranks and a necklace with GA ranks and both times those affixes got upgraded the ranks didn’t change or improve at all! What a ripoff
For legendaries with skills, GA, each Crit MW, and 12/12 will upgrade the skill +1 eventually. lt may not upgrade immediately on the crit MW, but it will upgrade at some time by the time you get to 12/12. For example, a +2 skill will be +3 with a GA, will become +4 with 12/12 and with 2 MW crits, it will become +6 by the time you get to 12/12. The exact upgrade rank at which it will increase can be determined, but it is a little bit more complicated to figure out (Wudijo did a good video on it if you want to check it out, or just go on maxroll and use the builder to see when it'll upgrade).
Geeez, ty for that!! I did the math so many times, but obviously never checked the result 😬. Probably because I replaced the item or stopped master working when it would have become obvious 😅
