I'm a long-time D3 player and I started D4 two weeks ago. Demon Hunter was my main in D3, but I'm not liking the Rogue in D4 so far. I've found the reverse in D4 with the Necromancer. It's a weapon of mass destruction!.

Your d4 content is the best and no one can deny it. You just get it man. I'm glad your channel has blown up recently. So Mac keep it up
Thank you. Very new to diablo.. used a few videos to learn everything I need up to level 70. But this video just explained that; A) I quite obviously need to hit 100 before worrying about my gear too much B) What the goal actually is when i get there. Video was clear and precise. Thanks again. Liked and subbed.
Finally got started on S4 after a brutal work week! Got to WT4 at level 50 and now just leveling up! Watched your Day 1-2 vids during work breaks so I could spend today more efficiently, thanks Mac for this tempering/masterworking tips!!
Someone in the forums made a good point. The devs wanted to hit that feeling of excitement when you get a great drop… but what we’re getting instead is a feeling of wariness on a great drop. “Well… i got something i want. I hope tempering doesn’t go awful.” Tempering results seem to land at, “Well that’s usable” or “that could have been a lot better but at least it was the affix i want”. When i’m getting ready to temper, it has already conditioned me to expect the following: “this temper manual has 3 affixes… 2 of them would be acceptable but i really want a specific one… so it’ll probably hit the third one at least 4 times in a row, if not every time.”
Ehh, I think its more 2 points of dopamine. You get the dopamine of getting an amazing 2-3 greater affix item, and again getting a perfect or near perfect temper roll.
Great Video, thx. The math with masterworking at 15:24 implies that a greater affix will not be increased by 5% but rather it's 5% of the standard maxroll of that affix.
I'm a very casual player and I needed these explanations. Thank you for this video, helped me so much in the understanding of the new way Diablo IV works :) Awesome guide for me :D

I just started D4 few days ago and had no idea what everything you cover in this guide was so thanks very much. Btw, couple years ago I reinstalled D3 and was surprised they were still doing new seasons, and actually still are, anyway I’m sure they have a basic map for D4 for next 10 years so we’ll conquer that lvl200 pit or whatever it is soon enough 😈

One helpful thing I've been doing while dealing with gear and tempering is occasionally unsocketing my jewelry gems while choosing and tempering gear. That way I know where my base resistances are at, and often means I can run with only 1 or 2 gems and still be maxed. That way if I find a good piece of gear that is missing the proper resistance, I still have some wiggle room.
Thank you so much for this video, I finally made my return to D4 after only playing in the first season and this made everything so much more clear for me

Hey Macro, here are my thoughts on the player agency element of the tempering system. If an item with GG affixes or greater affixes rolls the wrong tempering for your build, the item is bricked if it cannot be used on an alternative build/character. Masterworking can be reset and I believe the system is fair; it has a high cost to do so and feels truly ‘end game’. If that item is bricked through tempering the excitement and joy of experiencing that initial drop is null and void. With the new system I thought the intent was for us to keep our items with us on our journey and collect the perfect set (perhaps I’m misinterpreting). Having no agency over my item after failing the tempering rolls for my build just feels rubbish.
