Of course, it's cool, to get items that make you godly, but it shouldn't be best for most of the builds. Thanks for your deepdive into it!
So dont use it? I have one and don't use it.. Things shouldn't be nerfed or anything just because its BiS people should just use something else. Like the broken boring bugged Spirit born... I don't think they should nerf it I think they should buff everything else.
Just a quick thing about the stealth. In a group its very nice for reviving people. Another thing you cant initiate trade or inspect (atleast via the emote wheel) with people in stealth which is kinda funny and annoying at the same time haha.
I got one of these out of random mythic cache and was severely disappointed bc I have been playing since season launch and it was the only mythic I had. I killed duriel/andariel like 100 times at least and had someone else in my part get 7 mythics alrdy. I guess I didn't fully understand the power of +1 to passives but you've given me hope.
TL;DR version. +1 to passives is massive. This thing is even more massive for stealth rogues because they have a temper that adds even more + damage on first attack after exiting stealth
I got my 2nd spark after killing T4 Grigoire. I was debating if I should craft Tyrael (so much defense), starless (lots of damage and resource) or this. I think I'm down to choosing between this or starless, and your video is really convincing me it should be this with all the misc passive benefits! (For a chain lightning / spear sorc). Being able to stealth as a sorc will be convenient as well, opening helltide chests without mobs pinging me, getting to the next spirit shrine in undercity, etc.
In arpg games, there are always BiS items. It's okay that there are BiS items. The only condition to this statement is that every once in a while the BiS items changes. This game is a series of changes. I am not worried about this item.
The fact that it also improves key passives at the bottom is so op. Druid gains 2 extra companions instead of 1 with the new key passive. Loving this item.
I literally booted up my PC just to check this on my spirit born. It does not (at a glance) appear to give me 1 in all key passives. Did you mean it boosts the one key passive you do have unlocked?
You should have added some gameplay examples as well to visually show a difference in damage of what the shroud can do so it's not only spreadsheets and theoretical damage.
Hilariously I was just asking about this in the discord yesterday and started spreadsheeting it for my spiritborn build. I think the big holdup to using it is solving resistances without Tyreal's, but I'll be working on it
I switched to it today as I was lucky enough to drop it. With spices I am almost at max rex. Armor somewhere in the 300-400 range. Honestly, it does not even matter. You have so much HP and barrier that nothing will kill you unless you are pushing really high pit levels.
It’s definitely a weird one because it’s like… yeah it’s really strong. Tyrael’s didn’t have an actual interesting effect by itself, but the stats on it felt impactful. This new thing has stats that make me want to cry even thinking about putting it on, a legendary power that reads, “this item almost never does anything,” and then one of the strongest implicit passives of all time. Even Shako which is nutty is like… a series of strong things on top of a power which is strong. I think mythics are just in a weird spot in general where they need to be overpowered to feel mythic but they also need to be generic enough so that almost any class could feasibly use them. They dont do anything insane for any one build or class so theyre just kinda generic and boring but they need to be because like.. imagine I’m playing blood surge and then a mythic drops that’s like, “increase the maximum number of all minions you can have by 1.” Cool, but it’s not for my build and could never be for my build unlike the other ones where they COULD be used but aren’t good enough. I COULD use Doombringer’s generic power but it doesn’t end up being the best thing I could put in that slot. So who knows. Not a game dev and I’m out of adderall for the foreseeable future so brain is fried.
Honestly they need to wildly rework the mythic system. What is the point of an equipment that you won't even see until long after you've already cleared everything the game has to offer?
@theMagos The point doesn't change, there's just simply no way to get a mythic before doing everything. I'm almost paragon 250 and stopped playing because there's just nothing left to do besides grind the same stuff for arbitrarily bigger numbers. I've seen exactly 0 mythics. Changing to a normal class won't change that.
@theMagos I did continue playing until one of the later difficulties (not sure which one), and realized eventually that it was completely pointless. It seems they haven't learned from that. It would be nice if there were new enemies or activities or SOMETHING other than just a bigger number for you to experience when replaying. Yes, grinding is PART of most RPGs, but it should never be the main thing. I've played a ton of these games and this + Diablo 3 are the only ones where I found myself stuck in literally endless grinding toward nothing. That's just not fun at all. It would be better to cap all the numbers much earlier to incentivize creating/trying new characters instead of grinding just to make 1 character have a bigger number.
Could be drawbacks. Spiritborn has a passive that increases the cooldown on Defense skills, for instance. That could potentially break a build. I'm using it of course becuse it rocks
New subscriber. Enjoy your content and the work and thought you put into your videos is appreciated. I will be trying the Shroud largely to see if a Minion build will do most of the combat while I remain a cloaked Overlord hidden from my enemies. I REALLY HOPE that will work if for nothing else the cool factor. As someone who likes to make builds that are "Off-Meta", items like this and the Harlequin Crest make it possible to do so.
@@MacroBioBoi Sigh.Very sad. That seemed like an obvious win for Necromancer. After all, your character is not the one attacking. Your minions are. Though I can understand why game mechanincs may make that impossible. Unable to make the distinction. I would settle for minions not being subject to the "Fear" mechanic. Why are they feared? They are dead. They have nothing to lose save the favor of their Overload.
because you're moving the resistances from tyrael to tassets? people already uses yen or rakaroth to cap resistances over tassets even with the max cap on resistances that it offers. besides, tassets and shroud leave little room for defensive aspects, especially considering that you'll always want to slot in shaco
It dropped for me yesterday and I almost dismantle it since I didn't find the stats all that interesting. I'm glad I didn't, I just saw this vid and tried it out, and it felt amazing
and I thought it was unfair because the stealth is < any rogue form of stealth, lol. but, i also didn't know how, exactly, +1 passives worked. i would assume it only adds to your already selected passives; being as it is not, then +1 passives is MONSTEROUS since you're, basically, adding +20 skill points, depending on how many passives your class has. THAT'S NUTS. +20 skill points and infinite stealth... yea, not fair.
On the PTR this item wouldn't break the Stealth if your minions attacked. It made for a godly fun Druid/Wolves/Minions build that created some new gameplay approaches. But now that this has been nerfed, the Stealth aspect does indeed seem all but worthless now. Maybe they will rebalance this in the future to make it interesting to play with rather than just a passive booster.
it dropped yesterday for me and it was a huge bumber when I realized, it won't procc the aspect and the dmg multiplier at all. The +1 to all passives is great, but it comes with the cost, that de rest of the item is more or less useless (at least for my build) beside the armor.
The stealth is broken. Enemies still run right up to you and attack. The auto-stealth also stops triggering after a few minutes. You can go over a full minute without attacking and you will never re-stealth, and +500% damage on the next attack after breaking stealth is additive so it's completely unnoticeable (assuming stealth actually worked).
Thanks Macro for the breakdown of the new Mythic. I see Maxroll uses this on the end Game Bloodwave build. You say in this video that it's not so much on getting Stealth to Proc, but it's about the passives buff. If I equip this on my bloodwave build (which i LOVE by the way), should I worr about the 2 second damage delay or just simply play the build? The delay confuses me as I cast 3 waves per bloodwave... does the 2 second delay start from when i hit the "button", or does the 2 seconds start couting only after the 3rd wave completes?
Just a thought experiment, how good do you think shroud of false death would be if it give +1 to all passives that had 0, 1 or 2 purchased points in them?
I just had a quick question. I have 2 false shroud chest pieces. Both have a greater affix, one has a GA for dmg out of stealth and the other has a GA for resource gen. Which one would you recommend? I am currently playing a crushing hand spirit born speed farm build.
Cool video, thanks. I totally agree with your recent tweet. That you dont have to play the strongest build of the season. I tried spiritborn, I've reached T4 in notime. However, I simply did not feel it. Now I switched to sorc. Which is shit, but I enojoy the game. THANKS for your work. Big fan.
The damage this item gives is all good and well, but what about Damage reduction Tyreals gives us? Going from Tyreals to Shroud will make us so squishy? Especially in T4 Pit, or am I wrong?
My biggest gripe? When you go to the world, boss, you can't inspect people in stealth. Had 7 other people using the chest earlier. I had nothing to do whilst waiting!
I like this item apart from the stealth. Stealth is such a thematic class fantasy, I was running hordes and 3 different classes all running around in stealth just felt and looked dumb.
In order not to be so OP, could it be a good idea to make a +1 to all passives only if they have at least 1 point manually allocated? That would force you to put points into passives to get benefited, and take them from somewhere else, creating something more balanced.
Na thats just dumb its a mythic in a PVE game who cares if its OP just leave stuff alone blizzards problem is they try and balance everything and that makes the game boring... I don't play to be nerfed and balance I play the game to farm for the BiS gear and be OP af. If I wanna be nerfed to the ground and balance I'll go back to play Destiny 2.
It’s a dungeon crawler, who want to be a roleplay. In both games are always BIS Items that are op. So all is fine. We should talk more about weaker classes
i legit closed the game since im a necro main ... and while im listening to you on my second monitor my minions keep walking all over the place wich im not even kidding costed me a high pit ...
The rare node relentless (attack speed) on the frailty board is not working for me. I've reset my build twice testing this and confirmed it doesn't work (not showing in the stat page). Specifically, the secondary bonus does not work, and I have more than enough dex to achieve the bonus. The reason I care so much b/c I need that 2.5 % to cap my attack speed for the cult leader node. Any one else ?
Macro my brain don’t work good, will it rock on golemancer? I gambled my 2 resplendies and got this and was bummed out but if it bangs help me understand!
I had no idea this was that powerful. I didn’t read the +1 to all passives. I ended up salvaging it. Grrrrrrr! Right after i salvaged it, i got a ancestral unique with +95% total armor which put me over 2k armor at torment 2. I could have kept it & equipped it. Grrrr
My Fireball Sorc wears 3 Mythics, 4 Uniques and 2 Legendarys, what does this mean? Well in reality people screaming for Set Gear already won, cause Mythic/uniques basically act as one, only time you run a lot of Legendarys is early on, you know, when you farm for your Set, excuse me i mean the Mythic/Uniques to replace almost every Legendary you have
Whats the secret to damage? I feel like i have enough attack power but ppl tell me its irrelevant, i have everything amcestral with 2 GA, im at around 2.1k main stat 15k attack power yet i kill kinda slow on tormen 2.... where did i go wrong?
@@Mike-om4tv that doesnt tell me much. Granted dont have everything maxed out, namely glyph which are at 30 and masterworking which i have 4/12 on everything, i dont see how that alone would get me to T4 or to comfortly kill on 3. Is the build itself bad? Im a rogue barrage build with imbuements, word of harkon, flickerstep, windforce, condemnation for uniques.
@@warglaiveflailer5491If you only stack 1 damage bucket, you’ll quickly find diminishing returns. You need to combine different multiplicative damage sources, like Crit Damage, Vulnerable, Elemental … the more different damage buckets you’re using, the higher your damage will skyrocket. On top of that, it’s better to get 1 glyph to 46, then have 5 glyphs at 30. Lastly, tempers and masterworking can make a big difference. I’m not a rogue player, but for my Spiritborn build it made a massive difference when I hit a masterwork bonus on Resource Generation. It made my damage skyrocket. It’s important to know what the big gun is in your build, and how you can support/optimize it.
I thought hewed flesh didn't proc necrotic carapace? When did this change occur? Necrotic procs when your skills or minions form a corpse. Not when a passive forms a corpse.

TL;DR version. +1 to passives is massive. This thing is even more massive for stealth rogues because they have a temper that adds even more + damage on first attack after exiting stealth
Sadly the damage after stealth is still negligible on rogue. Its additive and doesn't snapshot but the passives are insanely good on rogue too
I got my 2nd spark after killing T4 Grigoire.
Yes i agree. D4 is a seasonal game now. There should be a BIS thats godly OP. Anyway season ends and all is reset.
The whole purpose of a Mythic unique is that everyone would want it. Not just for certain builds.
"Like looking at the ultimate!" lmao. Again great video for breaking it down for every1 why False Death is soo good.
@@arbitrage2141it’s an unintended bug that gives +1 to key passives for both Druids and Barbs
You should have added some gameplay examples as well to visually show a difference in damage of what the shroud can do so it's not only spreadsheets and theoretical damage.
Hey man, I absolutely love your videos. Thank you for putting so much time and effort into developing your content. Keep it up!
Hilariously I was just asking about this in the discord yesterday and started spreadsheeting it for my spiritborn build. I think the big holdup to using it is solving resistances without Tyreal's, but I'll be working on it
I don't think people even cap their armor and res in high pits. I'm on HC so I do, but yeah
They dont do anything insane for any one build or class so theyre just kinda generic and boring but they need to be because like.. imagine I’m playing blood surge and then a mythic drops that’s like, “increase the maximum number of all minions you can have by 1.”
Cool, but it’s not for my build and could never be for my build unlike the other ones where they COULD be used but aren’t good enough. I COULD use Doombringer’s generic power but it doesn’t end up being the best thing I could put in that slot.
So who knows. Not a game dev and I’m out of adderall for the foreseeable future so brain is fried.
This chest dropped for my rogue this morning and it's absolutely insane
New sub! Great video and aligns perfectly with my current Necro Blood Surge build. Simple and easy to follow!
And the best Thing for soulrift overpower crit build, U can snapshot the "Out of stealth" dmg modifier :)
Honestly they need to wildly rework the mythic system. What is the point of an equipment that you won't even see until long after you've already cleared everything the game has to offer?
Play something else than Spiritborn and you won't "clear everything the game has to offer" as fast...
@@MassiveSwordAndCards Grinding is the very core of arpgs. Did you stop playing Diablo 2 after beating Baal on normal?
I'm using it of course becuse it rocks
doesn't really matter the Prodigy's Tempo plus fast attack speed pretty much reset your cooldown real quick anyway
Or have a shako with three masterworks into cooldown reduction. Along with midnight suns reduction, cooldowns are a non issue.
Now do the math for Spiritborn , its fucking insane since they have the most broken passives ever, easily double the damage.
Gold. Just pure gold your videos.
Thx! Sad news though. When your minions attack, you lose stealth.
Tassets of the Dawning Sky stonks on the rise
Tassets went from never use to pretty legit
because you're moving the resistances from tyrael to tassets? people already uses yen or rakaroth to cap resistances over tassets even with the max cap on resistances that it offers. besides, tassets and shroud leave little room for defensive aspects, especially considering that you'll always want to slot in shaco
@@pablodrogo spiritborn doesnt even need resistances :D
@@pablodrogo they might not be BiS now but they're a fantastic option for solving the resistance puzzle (I'm using them with shroud currently).
I had this in my stash for a few days wondering why is it mythic and it's very weird item. Today I've learned what I've missed and was blown away. 😂
Dealing damage prevents stealth from triggering. DoT effects will cause that. Like Iron Maiden if you’re using cursed aura or bleeds or poisons
If you have a mercenary companion, that prevents stealth from activating. Dismiss your mercenary to test, if you like, you'll notice stealth works.
I'm macrobioboi, not rob. You don't wait for the stealth, ever.
@@MacroBioBoi Sorry Macro, i edited my comment too late. Thank you for the education on Stealth.
i slapped this armor on the second i found it for my sorc. 35 free skill points basicly and crazy upgrade in damage resist and armor
as a barb I am not impressed, however if I was playing an overpower build I'd be thrilled to drop one with a GA on resource generation.
So if you get +1 or 2 to passives you have not put a point in you still get the benefits??
Yes
Just a thought experiment, how good do you think shroud of false death would be if it give +1 to all passives that had 0, 1 or 2 purchased points in them?
So this is no good for Rogue? Like Dance of Knives when you come out of Stealth and start spinning do you get that bonus?
Glad to see I’m not the only one who keeps getting ga stealth damage 😅
It is incredible to free up skill points and even some aspects. A fun mythic for sure.
I just got this and was wondering if it was any good. Appreciate the vid
Found a 4GA shround... What do you think the best to crit on mastework?
Max life
yes thank you very much i was supper confused why this armor was so good
For my first craft should I get Shaco or Shroud of False Death?
I wonder if the bonuses are calculated separately or all together. There's a noticeable difference between +50% and +5% ten times.
I just had a quick question. I have 2 false shroud chest pieces. Both have a greater affix, one has a GA for dmg out of stealth and the other has a GA for resource gen. Which one would you recommend? I am currently playing a crushing hand spirit born speed farm build.
Resource gen if that's relevant to you.
Question: if you already have 4 points into a passive but not acquired it, does the shroud of death activate all of them even though not acquired ??
It doesn't matter what gives you points in a skill, you have it.
what's strange is you can't inspect someone that is in stealth. maybe why it doesn't proc in town because you can't trade them either.
Big fan.
I overall like the new class, but with all the bugs making it utterly overpowered, the game becomes super boring super fast :(
The damage this item gives is all good and well, but what about Damage reduction Tyreals gives us? Going from Tyreals to Shroud will make us so squishy? Especially in T4 Pit, or am I wrong?
Sad I can only like 1 time. Great work Macro!
Uber uniques is the new tendency. That until they release green sets.
It’s the plus 1 to all passives THIS IS MASSIVE!!!!
I really wanna combine the stealth attack with pitfighter ring on rogue for something
Great vid as always.
Like for the extra sheeds ❤
I still believe that shako and now Shroud should only give you + to active skill/passive respectively
Im still waiting for an item in d4 to be as exciting to find as like the sigons set in d2, that you use from about level 10-20......
Ho - ly - Cow, that looks like the golden standard for non-specialised base builds now.
I like the shroud mechanic. Reminds me of D2.
i legit closed the game since im a necro main ... and while im listening to you on my second monitor my minions keep walking all over the place wich im not even kidding costed me a high pit ...
I doubt I'll ever get to T4 without the expansion. 😂
As always, very interresting! Thank you very much 😊
5 second explaination; shroud is the new shako. Thats it. (Channeling rax's recent holloween video.)
No the only thing that will ruin Diablo 4 is Diablo 5
Macro my brain don’t work good, will it rock on golemancer? I gambled my 2 resplendies and got this and was bummed out but if it bangs help me understand!
It's pretty good on golem
@@MacroBioBoi would it suitably mitigate losing +4-6 golem mastery?
@@MacroBioBoi got a GA mendelin on masteries and feeling complete. Thanks so much for the guides and work put into this season amazing stuff honestly.
Grrrr
This might be a stupid question, but i'll ask it anyway. Can i use this on minion build?
Sure
Been farming tf outta Andariel and Duriel and this thing won't drop for me
Did get a Shako and 2 melted heart's tho
My Fireball Sorc wears 3 Mythics, 4 Uniques and 2 Legendarys, what does this mean? Well in reality people screaming for Set Gear already won, cause Mythic/uniques basically act as one, only time you run a lot of Legendarys is early on, you know, when you farm for your Set, excuse me i mean the Mythic/Uniques to replace almost every Legendary you have
A must have uber unique is bad for the game. Thanks for the explanation of why its useful
Very informative video ty
Whats the secret to damage? I feel like i have enough attack power but ppl tell me its irrelevant, i have everything amcestral with 2 GA, im at around 2.1k main stat 15k attack power yet i kill kinda slow on tormen 2.... where did i go wrong?
Multiplicative sources of damage from enchants, paragon board, glyphs
A few seasons ago they fixed it
this or tyraels might? For spiritborne build
Thia armor.... im botg wondering how effective it is on infinimist in its current state, and realize this rewards builds that can tap into multiple archtypes of its cpass, such as unmaker giving benefits from shadow and bone passives
