I should have mentioned that your build will be different depending on how many boards/points you have. A 4 board build will be different to a 3 board build for example. You won't start off with a 4-5 board build (if you ever even get that far), you'll make your way up to it...making copy pasta builds even more difficult for this system....there are just so many variables. Well, this game will be bit more like PoE in this regard, compared to D3. It might be worth thinking about the order when you theorycraft the level 100 build. Feels like noob bait to plug crucial resource or survival related board as the last one, making your character feel bad for the first 85 - 90 levels, until you actually reach the critical rare nodes and plug a huge glyph to that 4th board and such :D. And yeah, it's possible prioritising QoL board and pluggin it first, may make the build suboptimal on higher level and there might be respec required on 90 - 95+ to alter the board connections, orientation and pathing. Probably not always the case though. In PoE people usually solve this by adding multiple trees to PoB, which show you how the build author progressed through levels and it sometimes includes a respec at some point. Would be nice to have similar functionality in the D4 skill builder - switch that you flip to see level 50, 70, 90 and 100 version of the build for example. That offers that extra level of guidance people will need to follow the build.

That's pretty cool. I just hope that "unoptimized builds" won't turn out to be trash in the endgame, so that you are pretty much forced to follow a guide if you want to complete the content

One thing that many people don't seem to know is the each of the stats (STR, DEX, INT, WILL) will have different value for each class. Can't remember the exact matching basically it goes like this:
Rogue gets crit chance from INT and skill damage from DEX whereas the druid would get crit chance from STR and skill damage from WILL.
So only focussing on ach classes main stats without rly READING the stat description of ur class may criple ur build🤓
This is such an informative video! I knew most of this before, but it really woke me up to look at what boards I want to pick up in what order because going back and changing the first board will be a hassle!

I find it engaging enough past 50 to keep a sense of progression for sure. It’s fun to plot a path trying to hit up certain rare nodes while getting to that legendary node. Thinking bout the path to take while considering maybe needing more dex, etc to activate bonuses of the rare nodes. I like it.

Nice video man. At first I didn't think the Paragon Board was gonna be very interesting, but over the last week I've been getting deeper into it to try to figure out which direction to go with my Sorc, and there's definitely some tough choices to be made.
I'd think about the enchanter board solely for the 20% increase to enchantments. Only takes about 9 points i think.

Finally, I understand the paragon board system thanks to you! This was by FAR the best explanation I have come across - Thank You so much you just got a new subscriber. Given the importance of these boards and the fact that the order of the boards are super important, Blizzard better not make changes to these boards willy-nilly because that will definitely fk everyone up. I like how dynamic the paragon board system is, it's fun because it's highly likely a lucky gear drop could make or break your plans, or even enable a different path altogether. Any system that promotes uniqueness among players is a good thing.

At 15:00 when you are talking about the requirment for the glyph's additional bonus do you have to have purchased said required amount within the radius or does the required amount just have to be within the radius without purchased?

Also what if in very late game i drop a BIS piece, when i go and equip it, it changes my stat balance and now suddenely i lose my rare node effect beacuse that BIS doesnt have strenght (for example) and i drop below the X amount of strenght needed for that node ? it sounds really bad.
Do you know if we are able to reset points that we assigned to those paragon boards ?

Have you had a chance to look at going into a 7th board on Rogue? I copied the poison trap uber lilith build and noticed that they stopped at 6 and then filled in stat puffers for the 6 sigils. I am currently reworking that to push the 7th board, and grab tons of elite damage and some extra vulnerable nodes.

Would it be best to max out the points in the first paragon board before going on to the second. Is there a limit on the number of paragon boards that can be connected?
The difference in power between people that know what they're doing and people that don't will be immense. Which is another reason why I think respec costs should be pretty low. There are going to be a ton of people that mess up their paragon boards and run into a progression wall.
The Paragon board will probably be the most important thing in character builds for hardcore players (not hardcore characters), especially PvPers
Pvp has been described as a slaughter fest instead of balanced dueling. While the board obviously matters, I doubt they matter 'more' for pvp. If anything, they matter 'less' compared to pve, due to both the numbers of players participating and time spent doing so, and the balancing of pvp itself. That doesn't mean we're not going to see elitist pvpers talking about how crucially important paragon boards are, but be mindful that the loudest people often are not the standard candle they present themselves as, and frequent talking points are not more important than straightforward or easy mechanics that don't require as much thought. Paragon boards will be a core component of the overall build (also including skills and itemization), but builds require cohension between all core parts. They are all important.
@@HeartsOfGreyit's not a slaughter fest. I think it's pretty balanced you have to hit your buffs and crowd controls better and dodge. If you don't it will be a slaughterfest in pvp.

Um I may have e missed it somewhere but this is all good and all but can you refund your paragon points at any time or reset them if you messed up? Hope so because this looks somewhat complicated and I'm sure everyone is going to be changing stuff constantly. If so will there be a cost associated with it?

Ok but how do I unlock the boards? Maybe I missed it in the video but I have reached the connector piece and put a point in it but I don’t have access to any boards yet. Do I have to do a dungeon first or something? I’ve been looking for days and I can’t find anyone that has listed the info.

Is there any end game bosses? Like super difficult, high risk, hogh reward bosses? I just don't want to grind paragon to kill the same stuff we have already killed 30 times

Question!! For Barb rare glyphs that says while wielding a mace/axe/etc. it gives you certain extra bonus, does that mean as long as you are equipped with that type of weapon you get that bonus or only when attacking with that certain weapon you get the bonus??
So it sounds like prioritizing glyph nodes for specific glyphs is more important than legendary nodes? Should you be selecting boards based on glyphs you don't have but hope to find eventually?

What happens should you change an item that would lower skill points that was required to activate a node? Chest has less Int from what it had before?
How are stat points from gear factored into this ? Is it 1:1 ? I've got +5 on all my pieces of gear totalling say 40 Str, but I need 50 to unlock a skill..do I then only need to acquire 10 Str from the paragon board ?

Why do we have to focus on the rare glyphs within the radius? What about those nearby but outside, if they are nice?
Great vid Kanon. One question: can you change Glyphs on the fly or are they in place for ever?
You can swap ‘em whenever. You start getting somewhat attached or sunk into glyphs when you finish a Nightmare dungeon and sink dungeon XP into a glyph leveling it up. But you can move glyphs around whenever.
Fantastic video, I had no idea how complex the system was. I just hope Blizzard understands this and makes any respec costs minimal, because it's gonna take a LOT of experimentation for all of us to figure this stuff out. I do not want to find out at level 80 that my build is critically broken and have it cost something insane to fix it. That would give me flashbacks to D2 where you had 1 respec and god forbid you naively used it too early.
You actually get 1 for each difficulty, but that system was meant to be if your getting wrecked in your new difficulty you can change things up but I've had to scrap more than a few d2 characters because even after respec I wasn't good enough

Legitimate question here. Will ancients/uniques have stat upgrades on them ? Like for instance can a chest piece roll with like +50 for int or will power. And if it does, does added stat count towards your paragon total stats ?
for Rogue, what's the dps formula, how is every bonus multiplied or added together, and what are the differents buckets?

Could an argument be made for a 2 board build and to max out the bottom board for a boost to all damage and defense then be able to grab the legendary, all rare and magic nodes on the 2nd board?
I really like the potential complexity. My only hope is that blizzard didn't make a lot of mistakes with the overall balance. I know there's bound to be a broken mechanic or two but let's hope it's to a minimum.

Can I utilize multiple attachment gates" (the ones giving +5 to every stat) to connect several paragon boards together with 1 board into which points are being heavily invested?
Alternatively, after going through an attachment gate, are you lock out from further investment in the prior boards?
im not sure i understand your question but...you can connect to 1 board at a time and there is no confirmed info on whether you're locked out or not but i am pretty damn sure that you can still continue to invest in older boards. Would have to see in-game to confirm though since I haven't tested that.
@@KanonXO Thanks for the reply. My theorized 1st chosen board is getting used to connect to other boards at the top,right, and left side gate connections. I was just trying to validate that structure is allowed.

What is the cost to reset your boards? I'm lvl 50 and just starting paragon
Something else easily missed is that the four stats do different things on each class. The defensive benefits are the same (Strength is always armor, Int resist, Dex is dodge, Willpower is +Healing), but the other effects vary by class. Most people probably expect Dex to be crit chance, which it is on Barbarian, but Rogue gets Crit Chance from Int. I suspect most classes will want to go with their Main Stat (which is +Skill Damage) and whatever stat gives crit chance. So Rogues will probably do mostly Dex/Int. Rogues won’t want to invest in strength because the only thing Strength provides is armor, making nodes that require strength less desirable.

Good info, and reinforces the importance of acquiring all the statue of Lilith stat bonuses.
Yeah I did think the bonuses were ridiculously small but it makes more sense in light of the requirements for the paragon board. We had 28 statues, 25 of which gave stat boosts. That's about 125 over 5 acts so about 250 total stats. Considering some of my builds require up to 1900 stat points but that you get around 1200 from the paragon board, 250 is over a third of what's missing (assuming you need all four stats for a rare node or another, not all builds will need all four stats but then they'll also probably require much less than 1900 total points) so that's a pretty huge deal.
For my Rogue build, I would go from needing around 450 stats from gear to needing only 270 which is much more affordable (especially since a quarter of that is already guaranteed by one of the unique)

It's a blizzard game. Be always careful with your expectations with them cause their records speak for themselves.
It's probably gonna be a fun ride tho. Most likely. Maybe.
Take your time with it and don't try to be a cookie cutter build. Hardcore offers an extreme adrenaline rush.

The paragon boards should also have a min to max amount of nodes as well as being organised differently within set rules of how distant they have to be from eachother etc.. They keep their legendaries and rares but, like rerolling a helmet for an improved stat (defense 7-11), the amount of INT, DEX, WILL etc. Nodes and inaccessible slots/paths are also arbitrary (Example: Deadly Ambush board = 200-250 INT nodes).
This will 100% guarantee that no 2 players can the same because
1:No 2 boards are the same .
2: The path to the desired glyph is also varied . So if you feel like making a spreadsheet, it will be for this specific character and whatever boards you want him to use.
Any chance of you doing the spreadsheet for all classes and sharing it in a google doc form of some kind
This is why I want the reset all paragon already. It's a pain to reset and try to build something else.

I have respec once and might do it again to save those points I got while I progressed and my char already doing over 80-90+ dungeons with so much dps.
