      You should do a video about how the insurance racket managed to hold the trucking industry by the balls and demand every company require drivers to have two years of experience before they could hire anyone. Rob included.

      @philsonnenberg6092 Месяц назад

      @@user-iw1wp6em3j no mega carrier needs 2yrs experience. Swift/Prime/CSRT/CR England to name a few will hire you right out of truck driving school or they have a school to train you. I would not advise doing this tho since they also require 2yrs service to pay for the training.
      Private fleets will require 2yrs and it is due to insurance. However, it's not a "racket". Its liability as more truck driving accidents will be from drivers with less than 2yrs experience. This is a fact and most insures will not even touch a company with less than 20-40 trucks if they hire under 2yr experience drivers. Risk for the insurance company outweighs the rewards for them.

      Can you imagine how much things would cost after that? Just look at Cali and this minimum wage debacle. Overnight prices at fast food went up 20% in places. Some of the places simply shut down. Also, $35/hr. You're joking right? My coworkers average $40-$45/hr at thier $0.70/mile. While I respect your idea it would bankrupt most carrier, large and small, other than the flipflop carriers that would still haul the loads for pennies per mile.

    I understood the "paid in sleeper" deal a bit different. I was told this was due to CRST and its training habits. This from a former CRST trainer. They were paying trainees something like $300/week and keeping them in trucks for months! While the trainer was making bank on his mile along with the trainees miles. Trainees were even stuck in the truck when trainers went home. I don't think it means what you think it means. This was a CRST deal and not something industry wide.

      @@MuthaTrucker You have been in the industry for some time I assume. As have I (32yrs). IF, and that's a big IF, it ever come about that team drivers get paid to sleep. You can bet companies will just lower the per mile compensation. Mega carriers (and some smaller carrier) will never pay for anything without cutting something. Again, this entire case is concerning trainees being taken advantage of. I am not bagging on CRST as all mega carriers do not compensate trainees like they should. I drove motorcoach. Obviously 99.98% of all U.S. motorcoaches do not have sleeperbirths. The coach company I worked for did a lot of charters between Ohio and Walt Disney World. That requires a two driver shift. The, "lead" driver would be sent half way down a day ahead and put in a hotel room ro rest. The, "relief" driver would pick up the passengers, drive the first leg, pass off the coach and then head to the hotel to get rest then drive the company van back. The miles and time spent in the company van and hotel room were paid as deadhead hours and miles. That is the right way to treat your divers. Team drivers should be paid similarly. At least give the ones sleeping deadhead miles.

      @@jakefriesenjake Yes, that’s right bro, companies will give what Trucker’s supposed to get, and they know that they need to treat the Trucker’s right, and with all respect, that was the good ol days for Trucker’s 15years ago. The ol school perks for Trucker’s is now a thing of the past, it’s too bad the new generation of Trucker’s/year2020, didn’t even know about it, and never know that Trucker’s have those perks to begin with. They only thought that the industry is the same as it was before, like what they are seeing and experiencing right now, that there’s 5-10 truckers waiting in line to replace them, in a blink of an eye. And they just thingking the industry is shit like before, and just suck it up, and continue to work like a dog, and only open up all their complain to fellow Trucker’s, and not directly to the company, until they reach the point to be discouraged, making them to quit and find another career.
      To be honest, I would never ever recommend to all my friends that I know, to become a Trucker right now at this current situation.
      It’s better to have a 9-5 jobs, having the benifit of going home the same day after work. Less fatigued and stressed. Less beat up and damaged in the body and health, always with the family love ones, and always confident that you are always safe at all times, without even trying to be safe. Because, as we know, being a Trucker is dangerous. Anything bad can happen on the road. Accident is always following us, beside us or in front of us on the road, just waiting to happen, it can be human error, mechanical failure, and extremely dangerous type of weather. As we know, A Trucker’s top priority is Safety at all times, in everything we do, decisions making and actions on the road. Add this one right now, is the worst part doing this job is the Traffic, that makes the job more stressful.
      I came into the industry seeing the drastic change, I noticed it right away, that it’s not going on the right direction, instead of moving forward, it’s like the Canada course right now, it’s going backwards.
      Unlike your time 15yrs ago, this current industry, if it happens a Team driver have one less experience and the other have enough experience, and he doesn’t know that person, he will exploit it, the experience team driver will demand more abd take what is all left on CPM for his benifit, the rookie will not realize it, but eventually as he gain more knowledge and experienced he know the truth later on.
      Other situation, is when a Team have both enough experienced, no matter how long they work for the company, as long as the minimum fulltime CPM pay for Team drivers, it will stay the same. Until they quit. Unlike back in the day, the more years you work for any company out there, the more voice for you to have to let them know what you wanted. It’s like ask what you want, and they will give it to you.
      Right now, if you do that, they will just laugh at you.

    Technically, truck drivers are " On-Duty " every hour they are in the truck. I haven't driven a company truck for years, but when I did I was responsible for that truck. That didn't mean only when I was on duty, that meant all the time I was away from a terminal. Let's say you are on your 10-hour break or 34-hour or just out of hours and someone hits your truck. You have to get up and tend to the problem, you can't say I'm on my break come back. When you do get up to tend to the problem you are in violation. The Government wants to be technical on certain things, like counting every minute of your time with ELDS, yet other things they don't. Truck drivers have been getting screwed for years, out of their time and money.

    Teams are compensated for being in the sleeper, they make 1.50/mi split. Thats 0.75/mi for all miles, not juat what you drive

    • @supertruckertom
      @supertruckertom Месяц назад

      Who is paying $1.50 and is that as a Company driver, lease, or owner operators?
      LTL teams are around 90 cents split for Company drivers.
      Last week we did 6580 X $0.9= $5922 plus 9 drop and hooks @ $20 so $5922+$180 =$6102 then divide by 2.
      $3051 each driver.

    Some jokers put 3 of those "barnacles" on my truck and a few boots. -From 3 different companies. Took all the sh#t off and recycled it.
    -If you live/work in the City prepare for these jokers running these scams.
    They pay for a few $100-200 boots and start scamming. Make a few G$ and move to these barnacles that cost them even more. = Try to get $$$$'s from drivers to take all this stuff off. Not just trucks but regular vehicles now also = but usually they just tow/steal the vehicle.

    I'm a team driver and I'm confused. As a team we get paid for every mile the truck moves. Sleeping or not, as long as the trucks moving we both get paid. I think this applies to mentors and their trainee. Not team drivers. If we didn't get paid while the trucks were moving, there would be no point in teaming. So something is misunderstood here.

    Nobodys is going to pay for a driver to sleep. There isnt enough money in trucking to make a profit as it is, so i dont see this going anywhere. Trucking companies that run Teams will switch to running solo drivers. I also dont see any shipper laying out the extra pay to sustain this idea.
