Good morning 👋 So what do you all think of the new ‘Mirror Cam’ ? Is it a feature you would like to have on your truck? Comment below, and thanks for watching👍
When you have conventional mirrors you can lean backward or forward to widen your angle of vision. Every professional allday driver does that and it is essential for safe driving. That is the biggest problem with mirror cam and although mirror cam has some good features it lacks in basics of safe driving.
@@jajesamsigurno1002 it's a brand new feature on the actros. I'm sure in future updates, they could very well include head tracking feature. so that the camera can adjust the angle when you move around in the cockpit.
Nice. I drive the only for 5th gear Transport. And I love the in-cam system. I actually prefer it to normal mirrors. I clocked about 18000km in October. Hope you also find it better. Only issue I think I have in the inside mirror that should have Xzoom when reversing in blind corners to help visually or enhance visually. And I did have one stop working. Parked up for the night as a tramper (containers only) and the drivers side would come on. Anyways spent 1 hr waiting for road side and the bloke had never seen one before. Lol. Nice start. He called etc. We found the easiest way, which was to pull the battery terminals off and waited for 10s and reconnected and it was working again. I think each inside screen is a separate unit with its own motherboard so just needs a reset. Hope that helps. Happy trucking.
A camera would need lower mega pixels to allow more light which is good for low light like night time driving. One thing being implemented now is pixel binning like what Huawei does with their phones. They have a 40mp camera but it bins every 4 pixels together to make one resulting in a 10mp camera in low light. The larger the pixel, the more light. Mercedes really is doing well with their tech and they have the knowledge of building trucks to make sure everything is robust and works. Love the Actros.
Great video again Stavros lad. Love the Actros design. Get me one of these with the soundtrack of an open pipe Scania V8 and that's all I would ever need 😀
I think the mirror cam should be smaller. I agreed with you stavros when you said it creates a bigger blind spot. Its clearly bigger than the A pillar. Needs to be made smaller😉. Nice video stavros as always 👍👌
Brilliant! Nice surprise seeing the Newby's truck, which lives near to me. When I was 18 and worked for GKN Autoparts (a zillion years ago), I probably had to reline the brake shoes for that truck - when it was only about 10 years old!
Good noon. Hello, guys. I m a member of ur fans' family.I watch ur every video as soon as possible after publishing on RUclips.take my love from BANGLADESH.
Love that Bosch sat nav system that deputed on Suzuki cars, has a lot of features for it’s price. Damn, we need mod kits for the Tamiya Arocs to feature the mirror cams.
I caught a glimpse of an Actros 1 to a truck being kitted out at Roy Humphrey's in Eye in Suffolk, England. They are a Renault specialist so not.sure how an Actros 1 tow truck got there or if it is in their fleet but it looked incredible. Stavros if you can find that truck the you must do a video on it. I have no more information. This sighting was a few months ago.
Enjoyed that! The edition one looks amazing. Would be worried about those mirrors letting you down, if they shut off suddenly or something. I'm sure they've looked after that but having seen a dashboard light up like a Christmas tree on a new 1999 Atego before, I'd be cautious :)
A nice view of the mirrorcam. Indeed there seems to be a big blindspot. However, stavrods, you are sitting really close to the wheel. I would to think that sliding back the seat a bit, and pulling the steering wheel out a bit would help.
Well done on the OFFROAD lad......regards the Mirror cam....mmmm I find a cloth handy for keeping em clean and fek it Stavros I have my doubts lad about the whole thing, but wey hey who am I to judge what others may find the bees knees!! Btw lad, my first outing back in 89 behind the wheel shunting from coal boats was in a 1628 owned by my great friend and employer at the time Floyds in Foynes!!
Hi Stavros enjoy your videos love it when you drive older stuff just watched this as our fleet is all Merc I think everyone will go for mirror cams in the end but Merc always want to be first then all the others just improve on there ideas like EPs gearbox and teligent gearbox all the others make much better boxes.Couple of questions though 1 you said the truck remembers your lighting/display choices from your driver card is that only on top spec models or poor man's spec??2 have Merc made improvements to the gearbox and ride quality???keep up the good work
Unless you often drive narrow roads, otherwise i like the truck mirror outside, because it often focuses on the mirror. Plus the road in the mirror is moving all the time.
I believe the screens could have been better inside. As in, they could have a sharper and less bezel-less display fitted in there. And congrats on winning the off-road competition @Stavros.
Just drove a 2020 25/45 as a new driver who had previously driven Volvo FH’s. I absolutely hated the screens as do most of my colleagues and the blind spot on the offside. I was also surprised how much more jerky the auto gearbox was and how much more difficult smooth progress at low speeds was. I am a Mercedes fan so this is nothing more than my honest view of my short exposure to the Mercedes. I feel like I need to give it another chance….
When approacing narrow space where you only have a small clearance on both sides, how to avoid accidently breaking those cameras? They are both not visible from your driving seat I guess? Should be placed lower I think.
Great tech the mirrors etc sat nav good.tho more often than not if there’s a truck crawling up a hill it’s a merc or as we call it a German hill detector 😂
Im sure Mercedes builded these cams strong enought to win colisions with normal side mirrows and the most Sidemirrows are under the cam from the heigh. If it realy breaks it shouldent be more ornate than a normal mirrow. You just got a cam with cable to replace. Nothing more. The main costs will be the part itself. A normal sidemirrow costs about 200 Euro i think the cam will be about 400 Euro but just lets wait.
@jurgen DX try new things. Don't judge if you have tried it out. Its called giving things a chance. I love it. Wind noise in minimal now. I hear other vehicle tyre sounds. Not wind rushing and increasing fuel consumption
I’ve not had a drive in the latest Merc artic but it looks impressive. What’s the gearbox like on it? Ahh remember driving that 97 model, EPS gearbox 😆more like machine gun alley when it didn’t like ur selection, I eventually named it The Atrocious 😁
The Germans are kings of over engineering, mirror cam is just another thing to ream you at the parts counter. Not to mention the blind spot from the screens.
Hello, thank you for the video on M.Benz's page leave a similar comment if you replace the mirrors by monitor camera, better to put the monitor in front of the driver, because what sense it makes to put them in that space inside, covering the vicion field, I don't see any advantage
Anybody know any prices for , lets say one of these screens , or the whole system going bad? And how does it compare to lets say changing a common mirror that's been knocked clean off the truck?
The cameras are situated at a higher level than conventional mirrors, meaning the likelihood of knocking them off other passing vehicles, lower. They also pivot 40 degrees forward and 60 degrees back if struck. Additionally, the camera is protected by a thick plastic case, meaning if hit hard, the case would take the impact. In terms of back-up should the cameras fail, all of our Service24 hr vans carry spare conventional mirrors that can be fitted to the truck, so the driver can safely take the vehicle for repairs, however 90% of the time, the camera will be able to be fixed on the road-side. In answer to your question around price, comparing it to the average time a driver smashes or breaks a conventional mirror and has to replace it, the MirrorCam actually works out cheaper. By removing the mirrors, there is also up to 1.3% fuel saving that can pay back the cost of a new camera in just 9 months! :D thanks, MB Trucks
@@Mercedes-BenzTrucksUK Thank you for the comprehensive answer. In many areas of the industry the increase in technology automatically means an increase in maintenance costs, hence why i asked. Depends on the mirror design. Mercedes is not making any effort in mirror design if you look at their mirrored version. Other truck brands are trying to have a better design for fuel economy and less blind spots.
Good morning 👋 So what do you all think of the new ‘Mirror Cam’ ? Is it a feature you would like to have on your truck?
Comment below, and thanks for watching👍
Would never have it, far too distracting and in your face on the drivers side.
I don't like the mirror cam,,,a truck is good with MIRRORS!!Great Video!!!

What happens if you're on a motorway doing 56mph and your truck has a minor electrical fault cutting off the mirrors?
Would love to see an AMG version
Then a brabus version😈
I love Stavros, the enthusiasm is brilliant!

Great video mate. That cab is amazing. Few lucky drivers will sit in that seat.

I like the technology with this mirror cams. But it seems like they glued on the screens at the last moment.
Nice Movie Stavros!
The only problem I have with the mirror cameras is that they can break, unlike actual mirrors
Like in their cars lol
You should do a review on a Volvo FH first or second generation.Or maybe a review on a Volvo FM second generation
Volvo fh2012 review, stavros hasnt done that yet

The Mirrorless 2020 Actros is now the truck to beat. (And Im a Volvo Fan/Vehicle Technician).
congratulations to Mercedes-Benz for Mirror Cam .....it looks so beautiful inside there
You should do a full review of the new Actros... AND PLEASE review all of the older generations.
Gooood Moorning!!
Mirror Cam make it look so attractive

Drove on this road so many times towards Manchester 😄😄
Beautiful truck. Mirror cam system seems interesting. Would like to see how it performs in our Canadian winters. Good test for camera system.
we will probably not see it. Law dictates there must be physical mirrors.
Nice! Any update on when the new AROCS will be delivered in the same new format?
I'm awaiting the production confirmation for weeks now!
if I'm not mistaken, there are aerox series in Indonesia, but don't use electric mirrors
future trucking looks awesome...
It would be interesting to know if you get camera whiteout at night time,if a car is overtaking with poorly adjusted headlamps.
Good morning Hector 🤗 What's the story with the new mobile phone arms on your left to right pillars 😅😅
Edition 1 lovely truck compared to some of the ones rattling around our roads.
I used to work there back in 98 building merc buses
I believe the screens could have been better inside. As in, they could have a sharper and less bezel-less display fitted in there. And congrats on winning the off-road competition @Stavros.
love the Edition 1
Y don't they put the left mirror cam closer to the driver, middle of the dashboard or where the radio is??..

Great vid!
Stavros, OUT OF ALL THE TRUCKS, which once is your favorite???
Stavros, come to Latvia, please! Checkout the Sia Mazjukši JL Scania S500, It has the custom interior!! 😏🤗
I was waiting for actros mp1 test :(
In the span of 20 years they went from analog prettty much everything to digital everything with mood lighting
So they did!!
I’ve seen a new one on the motorway in great bear livery
The touch screen is the same i have on a Suzuki baleno MY2018 !!!

Ps didn't realise they had a track at the back of Wentworth 🙈

Good video great content, would be cool if you could get a Foden on here.(no laughing)
I THINK YOU NEED TO TEST THESE TRUCKS LOADED.
Nice,,, cat you show volvo fh16 750,,,
Morning Stavros did you go to the festival of lights in Crossmaglen
All the electronic gizmos in the edition 1, yet they use a cheap plastic inboard height indicator.
Could you do review of 1st or 2nd generation actros?
Is the pink light just in the edition 1
Can you do a Another renult magnum vid I love that lorry if you can’t I love the vids
Hello bro... hello from malaysian truckers
Why are Euro trucks classed by HP when torque is a more important value?
Not here , power is everything when you are limited
Cool
In Norway in freezing temperatures driving snow etc etc I’m not convinced hence reason Scania is still the go to unit.
What about Vovlo?
How to spot mercedes new actors 2019:
1. Look at mirror
2.look at headlights( it should be led light for signal)
Im not even a truck driver but still here lmao
What did you win?
Why keeping the front as a mirror and not a camera, same with the one downwards on passenger side.
Because they are much smaller and don't hurt the fuel economy as much.
Better with classics mirrors. But they want to be different of other brands.

What if i accidently split coffee on these mirrors? Its the end of my journey, at scandinavia icy roads?
