    We used to have that model T Series in Australia for a few years, but they dropped them for some reason, I think it was when their new R Series cabover was introduced.
    They were always tandem drive, manual transmission, factory right hand drive, and they’d generally have a bull bar and extra fuel tanks. They weren’t a high line either like in the video. A lot of them were in daycab configuration on tipper work, there’s still a few around, but I don’t know where the interstate ones went because you just don’t see them anymore.

    • @GeenIdee2
      @GeenIdee2 5 лет назад +1

      In holland a company still convert them to a T-series. That started from the moment they dropped this model, and now they also designed one on the latest generation.

    I dont know if its because im American but I freaking love European trucks. They just have a futuristic look old or new. I love all of them. Scania, Man, Iveco, Volvo, Daf, etc I love them all. They dont got much space, but they are so cool.

  • @connork5339
    @connork5339 5 лет назад +12

    Very interesting explanation why the T Cab was discontinued. In North America the percentages were similar at the same time but reversed. Back then their were many cabovers sold in the 70's and less in the 80's. For a very long time now, no manufacturer sells cabovers in Canada or the US.

    • @williambolger5296
      @williambolger5296 5 лет назад

      Interesting, I often wondered why the cabover no longer exists in the states. Length regulation has a lot to do with it in Europe also, need to have shorter trailers if tractor unit is longer -to keep within limits.

    • @karlosbricks2413
      @karlosbricks2413 5 лет назад +1

      The main advantage of a T cab is the ease of maintenance as well as increased space in the cab, which in europe is overpowered by the advantage of a longer trailer a comparable cab-over can pull, whereas in the US your left with this single disadvantage and no advantage over it.
      sometimes a ''t cab'' design is also cheaper to buy/build

    • @ricardolopez5352
      @ricardolopez5352 5 лет назад

      In the us they stop building coe's because they weren't fuel efficient, but in some parts they still have over length laws that would benefit having coe's on the road

    Opticruise always used to have the additional clutch pedal. That is not a "fancy item" or even rare... Scania offers the Opticruise without clutch pedal for about 6-7 years. Before there was nothing to choose...only with clutch pedal. Which was actually very good, especially in winters.

They currently are the only company in the World Still offering V8 Diesel Lorries. During the 2000s the German Companies 🇩🇪 Mercedes-Benz and 🇩🇪 MAN were offering V8s in their Lorries but they killed them off after 2012. What a Real Shame.

However my heart is set to the scanias. Dont get me wrong I like the usa trucks but scanias are just the best in the world in my opinion. Also in scandinavian countries v8s are really popular due to the rougher conditions. I know about the v8s on scanias and would love to drive a 770s I also knew MAN stopped there v8s but I didnt realise it was so recent!

      @@Trucker-Moosey Your Welcome. I'm an American but I just love to explore the History of Cars and Lorries (My Passion) and I've known about the Euro Lorries for a While. A lot of People in the USA desire the Scania because even though it's Swedish; the idea of a V8 with Lots of Power is Traditionally very American. I tell people here all the time about French Cars (Renault, Peugeot and Citroen) as well as all the Euro Lorries (Mercedes-Benz and MAN) 🇩🇪, (Scania and Volvo) 🇸🇪, (IVECO) 🇮🇹, (Renault) 🇫🇷 and (DAF) 🇳🇱; they've never even heard of them. Most people in the USA don't even know French Cars even exist and don't realize that Volvo is Swedish or that Mercedes-Benz is German and also Engineers Lorries in addition to Cars.

    look at the mileage over 1 million kilometers and going like a dream

    • @Romans--bo7br
      @Romans--bo7br 5 лет назад +1

      Jacinta sweeney.... In US miles, that's "only" 629,455 miles.... hardly even "broken in" yet. lol ; )
      I really have to respect you drivers in the EU, Australia and many other parts of the world as well... having such small sleepers to rest in, when we have sleepers (custom built for "owner-operators" as I was for many years) that are almost as "deep" (front to back) as some of your whole power units are from nose to tail. Of course, we were in the same situation with our own COE's (Cab Over Engine) before the government finally got their collective heads out of their "rear ends" and fully removed the maximum wheelbase limits on the "power units" ("tractor"), and left it up to those in the industry who know far better, what works and what does not... depending on what their particular use was for the truck.
      Once they got rid of the tractor unit wheelbase laws.... the COE type power units, Very Quickly disappeared from the roads and highways here... especially those that ran "long haul" coast to coast, or pretty well anywhere.... after all, what driver wants to be the first one "there" in an accident.... with no long hood in front of you, just an 8th inch skin of aluminum and a windshield?!!?.... not to mention the fact that it is Much harder to jackknife a rig with a long wheelbase tractor, than it is with a short wheelbase.
      The longer the wheelbase of the tractor in relation to the length of the trailer, the better your chances of recovering from any potential jackknifing situation..... if, you know what you're doing at all... which is really questionable with the young generation that is "out there" now, pretending to be "truck drivers".... at least here in the US, sadly.
      Another Huge "plus" for us, was once the COE's disappeared, the truck manufacturers (as well as "aftermarket" suppliers), developed the "walk-in" sleepers.. sure is nice to be able to just get up and be able to walk into or out of your sleeper with room to freely move around, with no "dog house" to have to climb over to get in and out of the sleeping area like we had to do with the COE's... and as many fellow truckers have to put up with in many parts of the world that are restricted to short wheelbase laws on the power units.
      My heart truly goes out to all of you "out there", because I remember well, my early years of trucking here in the US (started in the 1960s), and having to either climb through a very small window in the back of the cab (and NO escape door from the sleeper in case of emergency, like a fire), on a "conventional" (truck with a hood - like the T500 Scania here in the video), or climbing over the "dog house" into the sleeper in a COE.

      @@Romans--bo7br you can't compare an american trucks with european, I 've driven pete, kenworth, western stars, inter, freightliner, sterling, and the american trucks are many many years behind the european, now I am driving a kenworth T800 2010 isx cummins and 18 speed and I feel that I am driving an URAL 4320 from russia, too small cab like peterbilt, too unconfortable trucks right here in america, but what happen is that all the drivers believe that they have driven the best trucks in the entire planet, that's crazy, I tell my buddies if they drive an european trucka don't want to drive american trucks anymore and they get angry with me, that is the same that you want to compare any american car with an european car, America is behind the time in tecnology, fuel efficiency and comfrt for the driver, almost all the trucks have air ride suspension in the rear axles and trailers and not in the front axles, that is the most crazy that I ever seen, but here in america they thing they are the best drivers and the best in everything and have just driven american trucks, when you drive in Eurasia, siberia russian trucks and the all the auropean territory including morroco and then drive in america west coast to east coast including florida and NYC then you talk about driving and trucks, all old american truck drivers have driven here in america and want to talk about driving skills with the new generations about experience hahaha

    I think that is the one made in Holland, they do still long nose scanias from regular Scanias. Vlastuin makes torpedo models even from newest Scania series. So the interior etc is fromfirst of R series so my quess is that this is made by Vastuin from regular R - serie Scania

      Perttu Karttunen This example was not built by Vlastuin, this is genuine SCANIA built T-Series

      @@stavros969 thanks from correction! I thought that the last T - series was made with the old 4 series interior. That interior caused my confusion.

      @@Scaniam true that! My grandfather drove an Volvo F88 (or as we call it in Finland "Volvo kasipari" means Volvo eight pair or double eight) in the 70's and told me that it was the best truck at the time and ecspecially in the twisty forrest roads
